* DH always makes out the grocery list for the following week, immediately after everything is put away on grocery day. However, I had to add the stuff needed to do spaghetti (I make my own sauce) and misc items.

Apparently ds does not want to walk today? I guess I will count vacuuming as my WALK.

Oh, they probably have no idea what a catch they made in Elizabeth. Nevertheless, kudos to them. (And to second job-offer-ers if they have that much sense.)

We continue in the rather regular task of having workmen expect checks. Today 395 to the company that handles the septic. Considerably more $ than a few years back. Sticker shock. Their co has grown to have a new additional truck, new employees. Tobias was appalled.

You can tell they are in the park at night by the fresh scat on the street each morning. It looks like their diet is mesquite seeds and prickly pear fruit.

Only here can you find this news out, folks. Other websites just don't do the serious investigating.

Dd is taking advantage of science teacher's opportunity offer to the class to retake a test because of some odd mix-up. She studied for an hour last evening. So that is right now, after school, and she will call. So I'm doing a second load of laundry that doesn't need much attention.

Tuesday after school, btw, was a club meeting and the "2nd VP" officer, who's moving, had to be replaced (dd is VP). The vote on 4 nominees resulted in a tie. At that point, the Pres, a senior who earlier in the year insulted a minority in the club (Asians), leaving dd to clean up his mess, announced it would be broken by the seniors. ???? No precedent for this. The all-male seniors went into another room and came back with the result - the male, not the female candidate. Don't know where the adviser's brain or body was at that moment. Dd has told them that this is an appointment, not a elected position, and the boy can help her do the work, but she won't be including him in decision-making as she would elected officers. Film at 11.

Hello, Everyone!

I didn't mean to be MIA yesterday and today, until now, but.....
I logged and submitted a short story yesterday, which is #4, for January issues, and it got sent 9 days prior to the "official" deadline. But then, DH was gone, I had the TV baseball play-off game on, and this player's first name is the first name of my pen name! I went to my file, found a 10-page manuscript for a book of poetry, under my pseudonym. I went on-line, printed up a tutorial, on how to format a book of poetry, so I do it right. I printed up a 3-page example to go by, too. Now I'll be working on poems for that book, by hand, while I get them down pat. Then, I'll edit them, proofread, and put them into order, for a hard manuscript. But then, I got to thinking about another book of poetry, I have poems started for, the title, and ONE MORE. After that, I found the binder with my cover for my fiction novel, paper inside it, to work on in "spare" time? Then, there is the binder with the cover for a short story collection. Argh.

And, when I was getting my binders out, I found a stack of crochet magazines, to sort through. They're on the bunny room desk, I counted them = TWENTY! Then, I found 1 scrapbooking magazine in the crochet magazine stack, looked over to my coffee table, with 2 vertical magazine organizers, full of scrapbooking magazines to = 26!!! NOW- I'll s-l-o-w-l-y sort through the magazines, tear out what I want to make or copy for my scrapbooking projects, go through the crochet magazines, save what I want to really-really make, and discard the rest.

And I have a book arriving on Monday, which I want to read ASAP, so I'll get my LOL, housework, writing of Feb. plot cards done, and snail mail all caught up. When the book arrives on Monday, I'll go from the book reading for awhile, to doing walking, to read awhile, to putter and do housework and LOL, read, do Christmas crochet, read, etc.... yadda-yadda-yadda!

DH just left to go to another county, to another town, to get his driver's license renewed. He'll pick mail up on his way home. I need to put some binder paper on the Costco list, because he'll go to Costco tomorrow OR next week. The list is done. Only need to add the binder paper. I enjoy hand-writing on binder paper 1st, editing it as I go, then log it and edit more, as I key it into the computer. It's like lined paper-writing helps me think in slow motion, so I get more down, in a better light, rather than just jump into a blank page and write that way. Writing by hand has ideas come to mind, followed by logging by hand, making more creative ideas come to mind that way.

Oh, I'm talking way too much about writing. I'll go check my washing machine, get back to my letter I'm writing, and wait until DH returns, hopefully with the delivered mail. Oh, I just remembered: I have 3 publications of mystery short stories to read, a book on how to write mysteries, and 2 mystery books to read, too. Why? Because I want to make like a tree and "branch out". I guess I'm branching out by returning to my passion for poetry, too.

Surprisingly quiet day here. I am feeling better after a very nice long sleep last evening. It is cooler in here today after having the fan in the window this morning. That is really nice.

I've gone through the paperwork, paid some bills, sorted the mail. Read a trade magazine. Answered the phone a bunch.

My back is still very sore, but not so stiff that I can't move. I know it will take a long time to be completely better. I probably should go to chiropractor, but my old one died and new one recommended likely wouldn't do anything until xrays and I don't want to do that unless absolutely necessary. So, I'll just let it take its course.

Going out for a walk around the block. I measured it the last time, it's 1,250 steps. Or 2,500 steps depending how one counts them! Anyway, it's better than sitting here the rest of the afternoon. I've been pretty inactive, answering the phone, reading my book, etc. Moving will be good.

Congratulation to Elizabeth! Hopefully the other company will come through with 2nd offer before you have to tell the 1st.

I guess FlyLady would consider this the WHB vacuuming -- basically just hit the middles, maybe a tiny bit more, and did not do the "baby" room, or the two other rooms we don't use.

A high-level firing after scandal has shaken the city for which ds works, 15 miles away. Sad. It's tough for all because one thing discovered was an across-the-board financial bonus that this fellow kept from just some branches of city workers, causing mistrust of officials, who thought everyone got it. And beyond that, a 52-card pickup now disrupts the expected future, including potential promotions, etc. Oh well, ds is good at what he does and no matter what, he will be who is needed. I'm just grateful he is out of the way of this upset - he and his coworkers have done the best they could.

It seems many in high positions these days just don't uphold their moral responsibilities to other employees. Thankfully, we do seem to see eventual justice in many cases, but betrayals can be scarring. I'm about tired of them in my neck of the woods.
