It is a quiet day here.
Harriet is off meeting her new granddaughter so that will be a fun day for her, no matter how stressful the long drive in both directions.
I'm home now and legs up, icing my knees. For the first church service, I did the readings and the prayers, plus lead singing (we can't call it a choir any more, it is just dh, CM and I and CM can't sing if she's playing the music, especially when it is the organ because she is still learning how to play that.
We had a nice coffee hour, then I had my lunch in the church basement (just cereal, berries and milk today because I had nothing else to bring.)
Picked up mail at the General Store and then headed off to my first retirement home service. One member is in the hospital so I'll have to track her down tonight. Thankfully, that should only mean two phone calls. Everyone else is hale and hearty. The one that was in the hospital last summer is celebrating her 99th birthday today so we sang to her. I had a chance to meet another of her granddaughters and catch up with the one that attends all the time.
The second retirement home service went OK but still low numbers. I told them I'll be back next week. Can't remember if that was booked but I'm making the executive decision to try two weeks in a row. I'm thinking if the services are more regular we may build a following.
After that we went to Best Buy so dh could trade the cover for his tablet (it didn't seem to fit but the issue was he wasn't pressing it hard enough and now it is locked in place.)
We decided to have an early dinner at McD's since we didn't want to cook and didn't feel like eating out either.
Once home, despite being sore from standing for 2 hours, I decided we had to get out and enjoy the glorious day. So we went for a 45 minute walk along the river. The ice broke up today so is only along the shore but the middle of the river is open. As well, the geese are returning so we could hear them and other bird song. It was a lovely walk since we've found a new path (last summer I couldn't walk so we only biked on the bike path but there's a walking path right along the water.) We walked from our building, along the water to the beach and then back home through the streets. Unfortunately, I needed 2.5 miles to hit my target for the day and it is only 2 miles. So I should either spend time doing tidying and cleaning or get up on the treadmill. Or just give up since I'm already over 30K short for the month.
Now I'm icing. I'm going to buy myself the season of Downton Abbey so I can watch that while ironing and other boring chores. But I might wait until I'm more awake.
Next Sunday we have 4 services so that's a bit much. The week after that, just 2 (dh is doing the music at both services for 2 weeks in a row.)
