Sunday Funday

Post by Twins' Mom »

What will you do for fun today! In P&P's basic weekly plan, one weekend day was a family work day, the other was a family fun day. What are you doing today for yourself, with or without the family, to make it a fun day?

Wow, I slept late again today. We were out kind of late last night, but I did mean to get up earlier and get moving today. We are going to the local arts festival today, and having friends over for dinner tonight. Dh will will grill steaks, and I'll do a side veggie and salad. They are bringing cheese/crackers and dh also bought a shrimp ring. I need to figure out a dessert - saw several recipes involving strawberries yesterday, might try if I have time, if not I'll buy something at WF.

I had forgotten yesterday that we were invited to a get together beginning at 9 p.m. last night at a bar. PRobably not my favorite activity so late for us, but this was a 40th birthday celebration so we went for awhile. Was fun to talk to some people I haven't seen in a while.

I need to get rolling....
-breakfast
-meds for me + dogs
-s2s and get ready to head out for festival
-walk dMacs?

House is not in bad shape. Need to do some straighten up later.

Watched a soccer game which was fun because my favorite team won.
We will go out to lunch later to celebrate that I finally have a day off work. :)
Hope everyone has a Funday.

Church this morning was good. When we arrived at church I went to the kitchen area to get DGD3 a drink of water and immediately saw some "red flag" areas. There were 4 ladies working very hard to prepare a meal to feed a couple hundred, but it was easy to see they were not familiar with serving a crowd. I made a couple suggestions and they were instantly very thankful. I'm not the best at serving a large crowd, however I have helped to do it so many times that I do know a little. After I got LO and DGD3 to their Sunday School classes (during the preaching part of the service) then I organized the serving layout for them. After church they served lunch (Indian Taco's) to raise money for a fella who is paralyzed. I applaud their devotion to this person and their willingness to raise funds for him.

It is a common occurrence for people (including total strangers) to stop me and comment that DGD3 looks exactly like me. I never have seen the resemblance until today. DGD3 wanted me to take her picture so she posed with a goofy smile. When I saw the picture of her goofy smile .... IT WAS ME!

Home from arts festival. We bought a couple of small things - a bat mitzvah gift for a family bat mitzvah next Feb, and something for ourselves also.

Stopped at WF for a dessert for tonight. I need to get busy on straightening up and getting table set, etc.

Need to stay on track:
-clear table, set with placemats, napkins, etc.
-make the bed
-clear kitchen counters and bkfast bar (have done once already today...)
-sweep front porch
-sweep/ straighten back patio

Thanks RunKitty!

I'm in the house for a owie fix. DGD3 fell and skinned her knee. It is now doctored & bandaided up. She is watching cartoons while recovering with the help of a snack.

I mowed the Birthday House yard for the first time. Our lawn mower was not made to be used in a yard of this size or layout. I was continually holding my breathe as I took the mower in spots that it probably shouldn't go. This mower is one of the more powerful mowers on the market which is wonderful when it is used correctly.....but all that power makes it a dangerous thing in tight places especially when all the wheels don't stay on the ground. I need to wrap my mind around mowing in a different way. Maybe even push mow the majority of the yard. Hum.....

Still planting flowers as time allows. I have set out another 72 flowers in the last 2 days. I have 36 more flowers waiting their turn. I love flowers sales! 36 flowers for $3 is my kinda price!

Looks like I'm not the only one not able to get here today. Hmmm....Everyone's out having fun? Actually I couldn't get on as the internet/cable were out in our area. It just came back on a few moments ago -so I'm hoping it will maybe stay on now. Know it's sometimes iffy when these things have been out a few hours.

DD was trying to do a couple of job applications for dsonil and couldn't access anything -of course.

I've been going through a bin of paper items (all the way from Sunday coupon inserts to fileable pieces) the last hour or so. Trying to do at least 10 at a crack.

Tomorrow night I have a church council meeting up north, Tuesday I have a women's meeting and tour of the new Salvation Army village for women & families -followed by a lunch, Wednesday I have our quarterly business meeting at church here, Thursday is clear (I think) and Friday I'll be at work at church in the morning. So know this week will fly by.

Hope everyone is just busy/having fun today. Hello to everyone!
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Haven't done much today at all, although we did go to church. My stomach has been upset, a little more than ususal, and I am trying very hard to eat light and take it easy today.
I watered the plants, took my allergy shots, paid the newspaper man, s/s the kitchen and read the paper before I took a nap.

Last night, I am happy to report I finally DID vacuum the master bath and bedroom. I left the vacuum cleaner out, sitting in my closet door, to TRY to encourage myself to finish the job ASAP. Noted on my "Magic Minutes Card" that it only takes 20 minutes to do the bedroom/bathroom, and 35 minutes will get the rest of the public areas of the house. (This is the card where I started noting the times of some of the things I really tend to procrastinate on, for example s2s first thing -- it helps to know if I don't wash my hair, I can be in and out of the shower in 10 minutes, and if I want to return to my lazy ways at that point, at least I will be clean, LOL!)
Tomorrow is another day.
