The 'slower' is nothing I can't live with for now, Kathryn. We can see what happens over the next few days.
I've culled our big filing container. Recycled papers and shredded others and put some newer things in there. Also pulled just a few sheets to go in our 'traveling' file to take home with me -things like current auto insurance, our golf cart insurance. I've got different memorabilia and travel stuff in about 4 or 5 different decorated boxes. I want to sort and organize that stuff so like things are together.....imagine that!!
I need to go to the store but don't want to go until the roofers are done. Hope this does the trick.
There are things on the back porch that definitely need hosing or pressure washing. Think I'll put a couple on the front porch and maybe dd and I can get to them before long. That seems to be a parking spot for a lot of things that they bring home. Trouble is as they sit out there they get completely sand/pollen covered and need a good cleaning. Plus it seems like the garage would be a better place.

Thinking of Mr. Lilac and Lilac.
Well, a change of plans. Not long after my last post, I found standing water - sewage from the smell of it - in our laundry room. There is a drain in the middle of that floor, and from time to time it gets clogged up -- but never like this. I called dh and then I called the plumber, who will be here around 5 pm. Dh came home after his meeting and sucked up the standing water with his shop-vac. He gave the floor an initial wipe down, but I should probably get the mop out and do it again. We opened as many windows as possible to air out the house, but it still smelled a bit when I walked in just now after running errands. I'm not letting water go down any drains in the house today; I have 2 large bowls under the 2 main faucets (main bathroom and kitchen sink). No toilet flushing. I didn't shower today either. I'm an every day showerer so that one is a bit difficult, but I think I'll be OK.
We debated whether or not we still host the Wed. dinner crew. It is possible the problem could be cleared by 6:15 pm, when dh and I get home from work. But it's also possible it won't be. Or that it will be cleared up later. Dh texted R to see if they could host the dinner. We would even cook.
Done:
- self-care
- phone calls re: standing water
- waded through the waters to retrieve Lily's food and litter, which I set up in the bathroom downstairs; she was very concerned about the room and was glued to me for a while this morning.
- got dh old towels as requested
- reclaimed the kitchen
- Trader Joes
- pet store - more hay for Taffy
- postal place for stamps
- lunch
Next:
- make bed
- prep for class
- respond to email from dh and dh's secretary asking for bank info so dh can receive a reimbursement from someone

Hello Everyone! I awoke at 6:30 this morning and my first thoughts were of you,
Lilac and dh, as I knew it would be 5:30 your time. I said my morning prayers for you then dozed again until the alarm sounded. I've been checking in to the virtual waiting room also.
Over the weekend I noticed buds on our flowers planted on the east side of the house. This morning I looked out the window as I opened the blind and saw the blooms. They don't usually bloom until June, but the rain we had last month game them an early start.
Twins', it is so nice that you can keep in touch with a former neighbor who was close with you! Congratulations to your dd on her graduation! Your conference next week sounds interesting and a week at the beach sounds relaxing!
Elizabeth, congratulations on the new car, and good luck with your vacation plans!
Dee, my thoughts are also of you and your dfamily today; you and dh for his recovery, dd and dsil for his new job and for dgd16's situation. ((Hugs))!
Oh,
Helia, so sorry for the stuffed up drain

. Hope it's an easy fix!
Today is an open day for me. Usually if we have errands we will be out, but otherwise I will try to do a little focus work and puttering with small things.

Supervisor has been notified of vacation plan change. My friend in Denver has been notified and invited to the water park with us. He is not sure if he wants to go, he is self-conscious about his weight. Since my boss is leaving at the end of the week, I am not sure who to cc on the plans. I want to talk to him first, so whoever sees it next, sees it as a done deal. Obviously, tonight, I will be making hotel reservation changes.

Finally getting here. Been thinking about
Lilac and DH, likely in recovery...well with the time difference maybe not yet. I'm so glad you caught the med. snafu in time.
Nancy, the plant I have close to my front door is honeysuckle. When I heard that was what you were planting I cringed. Maybe yours will be in a better spot than mine. All those leaves blowing in the front door and all over the porch, that's from my honeysuckle. I wanted to take it out because it's so annoying but DH didn't want me to. He bought me an electric leaf blower instead.
Ha, there's
Elizabeth living in a
cathouse! Sure glad the ceiling didn't hit anyone.
Harriet, tell DD congrats wining the tshirt. Do you have the rest of the thanksgiving menu planned?
My post in J&C just now took a while to go through. It doesn't bother me, I just wait.
Lucylee, I was up working with you last evening. I didn't get through until 10:30 and then I just stopped.
Sunny, my pointsettias now have
RED leaves. Only supposed to happen in December. I think our plants are confused.
6 stops on my business errand run today. Still have to buy something on line. People laugh at us when we try to buy cell phone accessories for these old phones. Why does everybody have to have the latest and best and most expensive of everything, for pete's sake?
I have been tracking business hours to find out why I've been so busy lately.
Missing
LadyM.
Off to do dailies. I'm very behind around here today.

Yes, hoping for an easy fix for Helia and family! Are you on sewer line or septic tank?
I need to continue dealing with papers on my desk. Just made a tiny bit of difference there.
Hoping that Lady M cks in with us - saw on Facebook that they got rain! Wonderful rain!
This round:
-fold one load of laundry I didn't fold and put away from last round, reboot and fold laundry that is in the dryer also
-outside spread pebbles in bottom of new raised planter bed, then the garden soil I have (just got ds to take big bags of garden soil out so I don't have to move them myself)
-dump pansies, pot geraniums and petunias by the fire pit
-water/fertilize outside plants
-10 more pieces of paper off my desk
Along the way I also need lunch. When I'm done with this round, will probably do trip to Tar-jay and L owes..

I've taken care of at least 10 pieces of paper, folded two loads of laundry (one to go) and started some delicates in the washer, but just realized that I need to go to JCC to pick up meals for dmom and get those to her today, since tomorrow is a full day in K-town. (This is what happens when I don't plan ahead.

)
Hopefully will work on yard stuff when I get back later this afternoon. It just doesn't end, does it? Feeling a little frustrated today...but life is pretty good and I can't complain.
While putting away laundry, I purged three skirts from my closet. I have a limited number of hangars for skirts, and this freed up hangars of skirts that I haven't won in forever and can't get into at this point.
In other news, I turned in my keys to the temple building yesterday.

Yes, thinking Mr. Lilac is probably in recovery now.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, everyone. We're on city sewer and water. The plumbers could come early - so they're here now. This means I can't walk to work, though, and the sun is shining and the temps are mild, so it is a nice day for walking. Oh, well. I'll try to wait until they're finished before I leave the house. 3 pm is the absolute latest I can leave. . . . Hmm... a plumber just stopped by and it sounds like the clog has not cleared yet, and they're trying to find something outside the house to help with it?
SO, maybe we can host dinner after all? There's nothing like taking life as it comes. LOL!
Congrats to dd, Harriet! That is a nice thing for the teachers to do.
I am prepped for my class this afternoon. I also sent the bank info to the best of my knowledge. I'm not sure what an IBAN or SWIFT number is, though. This is a reimbursement from an institution in Europe, so it's international. I also put out the granite island hot spot.
Next:
- make my bed, finally
- set out stuff for dinner
- spiff the living areas
- spiff myself
- probably say hello to dd16 when she comes home

If I go down to the virtual coffee shop to pick up coffees, teas (iced and hot) and some treats, do you suppose the doctor will come out to the virtual waiting room with an update? If so, I volunteer to do a coffee run!
Back from my lunch. Picked up a few groceries on the way home but skipped IKEA. Knees are too sore for that much walking but I will go out with dh shortly to get him into the beautiful fresh air.
Have to wait until tomorrow to hear how MF's meeting went last night. He called here while I was gone. Part went well, he's been authorized to buy a new Mac laptop. Hope he likes it, I thought it might be a good fit for him since he loves his iPhone so much. I'm more interested in the reaction to the letter I helped him edit. He said he'll call tomorrow.
I'm definitely going to the conference at the end of the month. My name was on the registered list when the conference chair scanned it looking for me because he has a job for me to do. He was at the lunch so asked me to work in the bookroom during the conference but not during sessions. I'm OK with that. He's bringing in the former Resource Centre's staff person to run it and I'm just there to help her out. I know we work well together so this should be fine.
I've spread the year-end files over the dining table again and need to get started on something. Anything.
