Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
found out that our dear young friends and their young children 8 and 6 where right there at the shooting. Their dear son's (8 years old) friend is the one who got hit and is in critical condition and this little boy's twin brother got hit with shrapnel. Our friends son had just been across to visit this friend before the parade started. They saw it all - it's awful. Too much.
Roberts family. Keely Roberts the mom, was severely hurt and has had two surgeries and she will more likely need third surgeries. Their one son (8 year old) -Cooper had his spinal cord severed and will be paralyzed from the waist down. He is critical now but stable. His brother was hit with shrapnel. He still has shrapnel in his body even though he had surgery already and is at home.
https://abc7chicago.com/cooper-roberts- ... /12028017/ heart breaking I have met this family.
Trying to wrap my head around something that doesn't make sense.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
yesterday I rested - it was too humid.
I want to get dressed and then do 2 drives to the garden shop for the mushroom compost. (half off is half off) but the next right thing is telling me that I need to focus in on the sympathy cards and the bills while it rains.

Bw2, I had read about the boy that will be paralyzed and that he's in critical condition. My heart breaks for those families, and for all of us dealing with these kind of killers.
Home from rounds, looked at countertops two places. No decided. I think dh has the info and quotes so I can't even look at them now. I was driving and couldn't look at in the car. I get so confused with the types of countertops and so many choices! So we got quotes.
On refrigerators - ours is the french door type with freezer on the bottom. We looked at them at Lowes the other day and we may hold off until this one is dying. We've had repairs to it - I know we've had it at least eleven years but probably more. In response to dh we added a small cabinet on either side of the refrigerator so we can open both doors fully.
I just had lunch - was getting hangry - and am heading out to grocery now. Dh is running some errands and may go back to work for a bit.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
I assume that you and I have dh's much alike, Harmony. I'm quite sure that this recent episode with the UTI and Afib was brought on because he refused to quite whenever he's made commitments. Now he's paying unfortunately. He's 'cleared' to go back to work on Monday but I think he will only be dipping tanks for a while at least. Possibly some mowing later on. Know our Dks have been talking with his boss and they're all in agreement. I'm staying out of it as much as I can. He did do one little project this morning and has pretty well rested since then. This job of his is doing him in I fear.
I need to go search for what kind of shoe Harriet was recommending. Dh talked with his Dr. Tuesday about the pain in his foot which I rather thought was plantar fascitis. Dr. said arthritis and recommended V oltaren. He says that's helping. Do know when he wore his work boots before he got so sick he said they were helping a lot too so probably support is an issue.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
Oh, blessed, how horrible!
Thank you for the condolences, but DH does not know the deceased -- he is the one running the computer for the livestream. The school he works for is run by a religious order, and they are quite happy to let him have the morning to do this ministry.
Did some payroll. It worked out well, sort of. I sent a link to today's xkcd to the expert; I thought he'd enjoy it since it was talking about transformers and inverters, like the document we were working on. He asked if I was working; it turned out we were both working on the document at different ends, so while I was proofreading, he was making changes. The system won't let us both in the document at the same time, but he was working on a copy he'd saved locally. So I stopped my work on that document and will work on another. In one way, it would be good to be able to both be in the same document at the same time. We might be chasing each other's tails, but it would be useful when we have to hash out something particular. We were working on some equations (him setting up; me proofreading), and while we could share documents, we again couldn't be in the same document, so either he could point at something or I could.
I'm peckish. I had a Big Green Salad, but I think I need Lunch, Part 2. I will go scrounge.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
I am feeling exhausted. Probably being out in the heat and I'm not used to it. The A/C in my car doesn't work well until it's up closer to highway speeds. Should probably have it looked at. This a.m. we were also in their warehouse walking through. It was warm there! And I got stopped at a train track coming home from grocery - just sat there awhile. At least it didn't stop and start backing up.
I am going to nap for a few minutes. I've stayed hydrated but am feeling worn out.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
blessed, HRH was just telling me about this child's situation. So concerning, especially since his mother is hurt, too (which I had not heard). That poor Dad must be turning in every direction with worry. I had no idea this would hit so close to home for your neighborhood. Prayers.
Dee, they would be called "hands free" shoes and two name brands I know are Ki zik and Ze ba. Ki zik makes a solid black, which is what caught my attention since it would be versatile. But they both could make one, for all I know, or even another brand might. Or, then again, Mr. DeeClutter might rather have sporty tennis shoes. I honestly don't know whether "support" would be something they'd brag on.
Well, HRH's vision is mapped and no specialty glasses would help. Oh well, at least we went down that road as far as we could and now we know. Doctor did another extensive vision testing himself for regular glasses and told me firmly that he is sure his new prescription will be better for HRH and that I will notice. He's a kind man, very honestly concerned for his patients and notices that I'm attentive to all this, turns to make sure I'm hearing everything, too. He has the reputation of being the best in our region (which is what 2 of his colleagues have told me).
HRH says he's going to be slow and deliberate about getting these glasses, though, because last time it was a lot of money and not what he really wanted at all (and so heavy).
We came home by way of a grocery (for good or for ill) and picked up about a half-week's needs, so that was successful. Only bad thing about it was that it put us out in the hot-hot time of day and neither of us had really eaten. I ate a banana I'd taken along with me, that's all.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
today I had a disturbing interaction with 2 of 3 8th grade boys. It first started as I heard this boys screaming at a young girl how ugly she was and I said to them that it wasn't nice (I was in my car). They continued down the row of stores pretending to have sex in front of people and screaming at innocent elderly woman = right in their face. it was through the whole mall. I and many others called the police and the kid came up to my car saying really horrible things. I wasn't the only one. I am thankful I am a calm person that was trying to be kind. I had hoped being kind would make a difference. It didn't. The one boy walked well ahead of everyone and said he didn't want any trouble. the others were disgusting especially one. He said he was going to take my license and spread it around. he probably will. police never came when they should have.
I find it disturbing after all the violence that someone's with great immaturity would deliberately want to hurt others. so sad.
I will pray for the 2 hurtful boys bc this doesn't bode well for his future. Praying he gains insight on how he hurt some innocent individuals. You could see that it really affected them.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
Thanks, Harriet.
Dh says it's bothering him (mentally I think) that he's so tired and weak. Of course he feels he should be able to do so much more. Sound familiar, Harmon? Lucylee?
Think we're going down to the Pub for dinner. His favorite band is playing tonight and I know he wants to stay and listen to them. I do not -it's always too loud and too nuts for me. I'm just hoping/praying that if people start offering him drinks he'll just reply that he'll take a 'rain check'. Not that he ever has more than 1 usually but certainly doesn't need it right now. And from what I've read with the Xarelto he's taking he shouldn't be anyway.
Very cloudy here right now but I don't think by the weather forecast that it's supposed to rain. I did see some rain toward the Falls but it looks like it just plain dissipates after a short time. Don't think it'll reach here.
