Don't know if this is a quote from a person or what, but I like "letting the monster see you smile!" I'm thinking it's comparable to eating a frog first thing in the morning, or knowing the day is going to go well and showing it!

Lots to do, dcleaning lady is coming and we're supposed to be at a countertop place at 10 a.m. So I'm off, fueled by my second cup of coffee. I need to straighten, write a note and a check, shower and have breakfast, and be out of here!

I am encouraged by my sleep improvement. Tiny changes and monitoring seem to be making a difference. Fitbit has a new sleep element added called Monthly Sleep Profile. It is collecting 14 days of sleep data now for the month of July. Looking at June data gives me some things to ponder and work to improve. I like that it not only gives my data but also compares it to ideal and other Fitbit users. I can instantly see where I am doing well and need to improve.

Twins - I am excited for your upcoming kitchen renovation! It seems everyone in this corner of the world is doing their kitchen in black. Solid Black! I haven't become a fan of it (yet?), but it certainly is popular with the youngers. Do you have a plan for your days with construction noise? I am having flashbacks to when we had workmen in our home for over a month and the challenge it was to keep my sanity.

I am having a good start to my day. Routines #1 through #5 are completed (52 SHE cards).

LadyM, we're doing white and light gray for the kitchen. Lighter and airy. Currently it's dark floors (which won't change) dark cherry cabinets and beige countertop and backsplash. Cabinet will be white, except for the island which will be the light gray. My excitement is tempered. Dh spent an hour on the phone last night on cabinet placement, and at the end I told him it looked too busy. He put a cabinet with a door in the middle of cabinets with drawers because it was what would fit, and I thought it just looked piecemeal. He can get so detail oriented - he was happy with the layout before but ultimately it had to change to make it all fit right with the cabinets we're ordering. I can happily spend time upstairs over the garage and can turn on a fan up there for white noise. Upside is not cooking, downside is the mess and emotional discomfort from things being so awry.

After looking at countertops I need to get to the grocery, and I think dd is taking my car again. Dfriend M has invited us for wine at five - her dsis from Nashville and niece and nephew are in town tonight. They're all going to ATL for a birthday party tomorrow for M's dbrother.

I'm having a spinach and cheese omelet with a cut ripe peach for my breakfast.

I got what I hope is a good response on selling cabinets, et all on Facebook market. Sounds serious at least - out of town and would have to drive three hrs here with intent to take home if they look good. Cabinets et all will be stored in the garage until they sell.

I've s2s-ed, and done a good part of a.m. routine. Sheets are in the washer. I think dcleaning lady might be here.

Off to an appt for HRH for "mapping" of his eyesight. A distant location, so leaving early for less frustration.

I like light and airy kitchens, too, and I like careful planning, so I hope Twins' Dad's hopes come to fruition!

Our cabinets are white. Counters, bar and backsplashes are 1958 cherry red solid with only one ding visible after 64 years. (smile. Did I do that? It's possible, and if so, must be nostalgic, right?) Sure do wish there was more countertop acreage, though!

Sounds like a yummy breakfast, Twins.

Had our family gathering last night and I think everyone had a good time. I was glad to see DD hold baby Gwendolyn. Dawned on me later that DD was the only female present who had not experienced having a child and I think she was feeling it. DGD27 was delighted to receive jewelry both from DSisil (the one who passed away in March) and jewelry that was DShelley's (her Mom's). We've been holding some for years and DS-R remembered that they had a box labeled "Shelley" in their safe. Now she has it all and it's hers to do with as she pleases. As I said last night the gift that brought everyone to tears was from DGS17. He gave her the Winnie-the-Pooh with short blanket attached. DShelley had given it to him when he was born. So indirectly it was a gift from Gwendolyn's Grandma in Heaven.

Dh is out and about a little bit this morning. I have urged him to only work a little bit today and QUIT BEFORE HE GETS TIRED. I was up a few times in the night when I heard him and must admit had quite a few tears during the night. I did at least get 4 hours & 40 minutes sleep in. Wish I knew how Lady M is increasing her sleep pattern.

Have dishes to do and the water's hot so guess it's time!

I remember distinctly seeing a billing on our cc bill for June 28th for H U L U. We cancelled it last month and it was to take effect 6/28. So I went through the bill as I was going to contact them. But, it seems it's disappeared. So guess it is cancelled after all. One less thing I have to do. Did contact S outwest Air yesterday to tell them I still don't have a voucher for my cancelled flight in May. I do have a case # now however so will keep close track of that. Will decide in a couple of months whether dh is RIDING to FL or flying. Lots to discuss and decide this summer.

Loving the kitchen design discussion. Have to say I'm in love with DD's kitchen and the counter space and storage. It's so easy to keep it tidy.

(((Dee))) What an awesome time with family and new baby. Those gifts are priceless and treasures for sure! Hopefully lots of pictures were taken of the multiple generations.

I'm on break #1 of the day to cool down. I've been in the garden watering, walking and gathering tomatoes and peppers. I also gathered handfuls of grass to give the rabbits a variety. I am no longer caring for the rabbits since DD11 is home again. That is her responsibility and pleasure.

My sleep is improving by working on small ways to establish routines. One of the biggies is having a set bedtime. I have an alarm set to remind me to go to bed. Even if I am not sleepy, I am making myself get pj's on and get in bed. I find it somewhat humorous that I am like a 2 year old in this....I seem to fight sleep. I won't feel a bit sleepy, but FB data shows I am usually asleep within 21 minutes of getting into bed. Ditto on waking up the same time every day. The repetition seems to help me.

I wrapped DS13 hand before he left for work. I need to find bigger Band-Aids that have larger smooth surface to put over the owie. When I use gauze, it gets into the wound and isn't fun to get out. I have a good selection of wrap to put over the bandaid/gauze so at least that part is working well.

Not knowing what your DS's wound looks like, LadyM, I do know you can get nonstick gauze pads in 3 or 4 (or maybe 3x4) in. sizes.

Your kitchens sound lovely -- and this kitchen discussion has me worried about the refrigerator DH chose. (He does most of the cooking, so I left the decision up to him.) I think the shelves go all the way across and thus can't be adjusted as much as the ones in our current fridge. Although it does have bigger produce and deli drawers, and those are usually our biggest problems getting things to fit. Ah, well, it's already ordered and paid for and will be here in a couple of weeks. Our current fridge, which is limping along, had another hot flash over the past couple of days, but is now back to holding fridge temp. We had been able to get our dairy into my college fridge in the basement, so the only thing that suffered was produce.

Nancy, do you go to bed early, too, or are you just one of those folks who can function on a few hours' sleep?

DH is running the livestream for a funeral today, so he didn't head into school this morning. They are quite happy to have him do this sort of thing. Anyhow, before he left, he was home long enough that I was able to pin him down enough on some summer plans that I can do things like schedule an electrician to come redo the stove outlet. Now I just have to find an electrician.

Not sure what I will do next: laundry or payroll.
