I’m simply lying in a hospital recliner watching my dmom sleep.
Surgery this morning reportedly went well, but I haven’t seen the surgeon yet. She’s been resting pretty well though ever since they got her back to her room.
I need to go home and get a shower, but I also think I should probably stay tonight. Kinda uneasy about night nurse. We weren’t thrilled with the one last night.

My uncle is on the next floor. Found out he came in early Thursday morning after having a bad seizure, bleeding from nose, etc.
Now he’s giving my aunts fits because doctors want to send him to rehab (to monitor him a little while on new meds; he’s not safe to go home) and he refuses.

I'm late posting but have been productive since my feet hit the floor this morning. I have been so busy that I haven't drank my normal ounces or taken my vitamins yet. I made myself sit down & take a break so I can catch up on those 2 items.

I had another short night of sleep because I got a phone call around 11:30 that DD11 was having a meltdown at camp. DD11 and I talked on the phone until she settled down and got control of her emotions. DD11 has made so much progress over the last 6 months of working with the counselor. However, I suppose a mini set-back is to be expected when learning new habits and life skills. I just checked and this is the first time DD11 has had a meltdown since July 10th of this year.

DH and I went to the city to pick up a prescription. While we were there, we ate lunch and then did pantry/freezer restocking. I need one more rolling shelf to finish organizing the garage so that shelfing unit came home with us too. Note to self: The shelf weighed 90lbs and DH struggled to pick it up (he did pick it up, but it was a struggle) . In our 49 years of marriage, I've never seen DH struggle to pick up a 100 lbs item. DH turns 70 years old in a few months, so I suppose it is normal part of aging to lose his strength.

I am testing a plan to do location based daily SHE cards. I am grouping the cards by location and doing them all at one time. This is probably normal for most people but my SHE brain doesn't normally think that way. I do better when I tweak the cards, so they feel new to me. Location based is my newest tweak so now I am inspired and motivated to do the cards.

It's really windy here. It rained sideways this morning. That stopped. It stayed overcast and then we had a bit of hail/snow pellets.

We are having hard and soft shelled tacos for supper.

I bought some ginger molasses cookies from a small, local bakery today. Dh has already eaten 2. Sigh.

Waiting for dark to do another lap around the block to see the lights 2 neighbors were working on them earlier when we walked by!
Broth is in the crock pot heating up for soup later on to go with chicken I thawed out.
Did a bit of sewing put my progress in that thread.

Just going to post very briefly. Just long enough to let you know you're all in my thoughts. I'm still sick and have done just about nothing today. Yesterday I was feeling better and really accomplished a lot without overdoing. Today I've been back to feeling just plain crummy and running a low-grade temp again. Have a couple more days to go on the T amiflu so hopefully it really kicks in soon. (I do know it's not Covid).

After talking with dh's cardiologist PA yesterday we got his E liquis script figured out and also know that he can fly back (if all goes well with the ablation on the 14th and follow-up on the 21st. Can't be soon enough for either of us. Although I'm glad he's not here right now as both dd and I are down for the count. He doesn't need it for sure.

Have a good weekend. Hopefully I can CUOP a little more tomorrow.

Checking in before bed.

Did not have an overly productive afternoon and evening. I meant to, I just didn't.

The easy half of the table is cleared but mostly because I shifted things to the hard part of the table to clear. I sat down there with a good movie to work at sorting but that didn't work out because the movie was too good and I ended up watching it all!

Dh called on Skype so we chatted for about 20 minutes. He pointed out all that's wrong with my video call set up which will be useful for Monday night when I have an online meeting. The Christmas bow on the lamp behind me looks like it is on my head and my ring light wasn't high enough so I had bad reflections in my glasses. My set up has to be taken down when dgs1.75 is here because he can reach up to pull my computer off its stand on my desk. The light telescopes so I collapse it and fold up my laptop. My second monitor is on books to get it to the right height and that is moved to the desk top as well and then I can pull the roll-top lid now. But then I get slow at moving things back to their correct position.

I'm feeling grumpy about all I didn't get done today which is bonkers because I did get a enough done to make it a productive day. There's just so much I have to do to get caught up and not panicked about all that hasn't been done.

((Dee)), true, he at least is away from the flu you are experiencing - that is a sort of backhanded blessing, isn't it? I'm so sorry you are down, but grateful you have the medicine.

((lucylee)), I hope you can have confidence in the nursing staff and maybe get to your own home if it is a reasonable distance. How difficult that you have other family members struggling with medical decisions on another floor of the hospital.

Wind, wind, go away. Bother our friends some other day.

This day has been strange. I did get more cards done, but then the mail ran early and I missed it. I did get one card into the mailbox of a neighbor myself. Baby steps.

HRH misunderstood my mood, I guess you would say, this morning. He didn't realize I was really hoping he would hang out with me, talk to me a while. But I was fine if he wanted to go out and come back for that later, as dstepson and a friend had asked him to do. Unfortunately, he forgot something and came back sooner unexpectedly and found me crying. (I know, right?) He took it all wrong and assumed he was not the one to handle this obviously terrible thing, and got dd42 to talk to me, which wasted both our time over something both of us knew was ordinary.

He just didn't have the concept that a good cry was a pretty sensible choice for me now, and not anything to be surprised about. Oh well. I told him I need to be able to be honest when I get emotionally tired or just need some private time or talk with only him. The way it was today, I had to be sorry I ever admitted I was stressed and wish I'd hidden how I felt. But you'd think I was talking about splitting the atom. Couldn't comprehend it.

I put all the card stuff away so that I would have none of it in my sight or in the way for a while.
Took that opportunity to make a nice supper and do my exercises.

I see why my dmother always kept a folding card table available in the closet. There just aren't enough surfaces/space and sometimes you need an extra table.

Harriet, I went home this afternoon and showered, ate a Subway sandwich with dh & dgs, picked up a few “must haves” at grocery store and wrote checks for a bunch of bills that arrived today. It is amazing how much better a shower can make a person feel!
* The hospital is 45-60 minutes away, but it’s an easy drive — no city traffic at all for 90% of it.
Back at hospital now, but tonight’s nurses are great.
Daunt went home and said duncle had calmed down a lot and is agreeable to 21-day rehab.

Still have not heard from surgeon or GI doctor!
Surely they will make rounds tomorrow.
I definitely do plan to sleep at my own house tomorrow and I hope to get started on getting the Christmas tree up.
I’m kinda overwhelmed and aggravated about the lack of time to do Christmas stuff AND the need to do some basic cleaning at my house! (And then of course I feel guilty for complaining.)
Even if dbro lived close by, I would still bear the brunt of the caregiver role — bc dbro and dsil are both still working.

Must brag on dh a bit — he’s had one of the dgrands all weekend. He and ds took them to the Christmas parade last night and he is taking dgs to piano tomorrow.
