Today appears to be interruption day.

I ordered a new generic beater head for the vacuum as we have no idea what is wrong with this one. If it works it will save us a lot of time rather than trying to fix the old one, if not, it was $35 dollars. In my searching for alternate to Miele and Amazon, I discovered Miele does a longer crevice tool so I ordered it as well. I have a really long one that fit my old Kenmore but not the new vacuum so I've rigged an adapter out of a paper towel tube. Don't judge, it must work because I can hear stuff being sucked up!

Lots of phone calls too.

Dh's surgeon is in the news right now, leading the Heart Month campaign at the Heart Institute. Two of the interruptions were from people calling to say they'd seen him, one in the paper, the other on TV.

Well it’s been an interesting day here that’s for sure!

Spent most of the morning working at the dog shelter learning how to clean kennels. Then I wiped down all the glass windows and doors for each kennel… there were 20 to do.

Two rooms each had a pile of puppies. Cuteness overload! Then I came home and at my lunch. While I was sitting on the couch, Sweetie yelled… Black racer (snake). He was by our lanai door. They are non-poisonous and very fast.

Grabbed my phone to take a video and glad i did. There were actually two of them and as I continued to film them I realized they were setting up to mate. Sweetie and I watched in amazement as they danced and wrapped themselves around each other and eventually one snake drag the other into the bushes while they were still connected. I posted the videos on my fb page if you’re interested

Today is Sweetie and my connecting 23rd anniversary. I sent him an email an email on Jan 31 and he answered on Feb 1 and on the 2nd the fun began. We celebrate this day much more that our wedding anniversary and will be going out for dinner tonight.

Ended up staying home today. Dh asked me to because it is really windy and cold. So... I stayed home.

Today is compost/garbage/recycling day. I had to go down into the ditch to retrieve our garbage can. One of the neighbours had their garbage cans, recycling boxes and compost bin all over the road and getting blown towards the field across the street from his place.

I stayed up until after midnight reading, and I'm tired. I might lay down for a nap. It looks gorgeous outside, but the wind is howling.

Heading to work out in a minute. I knocked another item of my list for the week. I'm sure I won't get through it all, but more progress than in the last several weeks. I thought about going to the library after my workout but wasn't sure how long that last task would take. I'll go to the library in the a.m. when the dcleaning lady is here.

RR - I watched the video and you are much braver than I am! I enjoyed watching from a safe distance.

I had plans to go to the city this afternoon but that has changed. I decided to reschedule DS14 counseling appt again. The temperature isn't going up like predicted so the ice isn't melting. I decided to not be driving on ice in the city at night.

I made several ingredients and have them available to make Build-A-Mountain, tacos, nachos, or hamburger. Everyone can choose their ingredients and how they want to assemble them. I used the ingredients to make loaded nachos for my lunch.

Rosie: I totally understand how your reconnecting anniversary is the important one!

I just reconciled the two bank accounts and our cash on hand. This all started on Tuesday, I pulled out the cash box to take $240 cash to the guy I help out who can't get to the bank (he then immediately emails me the money back). Yesterday, I decided to quickly reconcile it in Quicken and realized I couldn't because the bank accounts weren't up to date (and the box is stocked with money from the bank.) So today I decided to 'quickly' do that (as an extra task) and discovered there were a total of 10.5 months to reconcile. Big Sigh.... With all the interruptions here, it took me 2+ hours to do that. But when all was said and done, the cash balanced to the dollar. I was out by $9 until I remembered to count the coins! I stopped tracking that to the penny a few years ago, I figure a $1 is close enough!

When I was at the bank yesterday, I took out money to refill the cash box and while waiting for her to bring the bills to me, discovered $200 in my wallet that I didn't expect to find. I vaguely remember putting a chunk of cash in my wallet before one of my trips so I could pay cash for help if the car broke down on the road. But had the car broken down recently, I would have had no clue it was there!

So that's 4 more accounts reconciled and I'm down to the last 2, infrequently used credit cards. Then all the records for 2022 will be up to date, and I can print off how much we spent, on what, and adjust my spending guidelines for 2023.

Kathryn, that's a lot of figuring out stuff.

I am trying to get my studies caught up for tomorrow. I didn't do any this week so far except the part to read after last week's lesson. I am working on #4 now, 1 more to go after that one.

Of course I've been interrupted a lot. DGS called to chat. I always make time for him. I think about all the people whose grandchildren don't keep in touch. He's the only one of mine who does and I consider that special. Stopped to eat, put laundry in, hang that load up outside, look through drawers and files for a plan DH evidently mislaid somewhere. Came here to post.

Usual things I do to keep things looking half-way tidy are in my morning routines and my evening ones. Bed is made, dishes caught up and put away, counters wiped, shoes gathered / put away, mail sorted, sweeper run in living areas.

Speaking of sweepers, Kathryn, I do not know how your vacuum head with the beater bar could be working without electric to it. What would be making the bar turn? I think the electric must be connected where the head itself is connected. Mine has a cord and I coil it around the handle pipe a few times and plug it into a socket right under the handle part at the top. I also have the little plain one with some brushes across the bottom, but those don't turn. It works well on tile floors. I hope the one you bought works. I remember the one I bought (as an extra to the vacuum) was pricey. Mine will probably last for a decade as I rarely use it now.

I just fried the peppers and onions and par boiled the potatoes. I just have to add chicken stock and put it in the oven around 4:30.

Dh brought in a load of wood and we are going to have a fire in the fireplace in a few minutes.

Spring Garden 2023 seed planting has begun. The indoor seed germination shelf only needed to be plugged in and it is ready to use. We are 8+ weeks away from the typical last freeze, so I am starting with cold hardy plants. Cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, onion and chives seeds are planted.

I uncovered the rabbit cages, and they made it through the freezing weather without any problems.
