A happy party was had by all and if anyone has a Firehouse Subs nearby, they seem to be a good bday choice for catering. You get a colorful box already filled with wrapped variety sandwiches wedged in to show their contents. You fold out into a serve-yourself display, labeled with types. Individual potato chips. Of course, I don't know how expensive this was. They send along a child's firefighter hat, if anyone is young enough for that. We had one who wore it at table.
Dd24 and the young man spent the day traveling to a lecture at Research Triangle and came home somewhat disappointed. It was so crowded they didn't get to meet the speaker, but they learned some. They were in the photo of the large group.
Time to check the garden beds.

I got the plant poles up. And potted 5 plants into the new pots I bought and put them on the shelf. My neighbour had all matching pots on her plant poles and it looked so 'together.' I never look together.
Anyway, one pole is up in the living room corner with a N and E window. There are 7 shelf holders on each pole and a total of 12 shelves, so I have 5 on one, 4 on the other, and will decide where to put the remaining three when I have more plants. The second pole is in the office next to the west window. That's my sunniest spot in the apartment so plants needing sun can go there.
My croton never looked like the pictures. Turns out it wasn't getting enough sun so has grown tall and bushy on top. I cut off the top and it is rooting in water. There was a side plant that is now repotted and I left the remaining stalk and root ball together and planted that. Apparently it will grow again and I know this to be true because when I was first given the plant I thought it was artificial so never watered it and it died. Once I saw all the dead leaves, I watered it and put it in a sunnier window and it came back to life both on the main stalk and growing a second one off the roots.
I also potted the cuttings I'd made from my ficus. And some purple heart plant cuttings (that, like spider plants is prolific.) I have three on the balcony along with a number of spider plants.
I need to repot my Christmas Cacti (I have 3) but ran out of potting soil.
Ds dropped in and I showed him the folding wagon I got at Costco. It has many benefits over his (twice the weight rating, water bottle pockets, heavier duty wheels and better handle) but it won't stand up on its own. And it folds 'flat' whereas his scissor folds into a square that stand up on its own. It turns out his is on sale at Canadian Tire so I ordered it for pickup tomorrow. It fits really nicely in my car, whereas the flat fold of this one wouldn't. That was the deciding factor for me since the back of my car is rather full since I don't have a garage to keep the folding chairs in, or car cleaning supplies so carry them with me all the time along with bubble mixture, a picnic blanket, a kite, and assorted other stuff.
It is now really late and I'm exhausted but I've got the living room tidied up a bit and have made a decision on the cart so it can be moved back to the car for a return. That leaves the bunk bed cots and my masks to unpack and find a home for.
