On World Knitting Day, aren't we glad we are knit together as a village here?

YouTube is making a big deal out of World Knitting Day, also called Worldwide Knit in Public Day, with cute info, banner, etc., also on crochet.

By the way, in US, this is not only National Iced Tea Day, which is of course, HUGE, it is also National Dragonfly Day. I knew you would all be celebrating these.

Dee, the coziness of warm things, warm support and warm thoughts is wished for you today as you recuperate!

Today is packing day for DD12 to attend camp. She wants to do it independently, which I applaud. I gave her a packing list to check items off as she packs them.

DS14 went fishing with a friend last night. They loaded a boat with no motor in the back of their pickup and fished at a local pond. I think they used shovels as paddles. Cue Huck Finn. They caught several bass and catfish and brought them back to stock DS14 bosses newly built pond. Then they spent the night in a RV camper. What kind of trouble could a 14 and 15 year old boys get into doing these activities? I remind DS14 frequently that he has earned trust to do these types of things and that that can all go away with making foolish decisions. He is with a good friend that is book smart and had common sense. Hopefully they won't do stupid.

I am in take it easy mode today. I am just doing what I want to do. I have done daily maintenance (PUPA, wipe surfaces, quick vacuum) on 2 rooms. I planted radishes and beets in the garden. Each of these activities doesn't require much time or effort, they feel calming & comforting to do and leave me with a good feeling after accomplishing them.

Good morning Harriet! Yes, I am happy that we are a tight knit community so we can wrap our arms around one another for comfort and support.

I've been awake since 6:30 a.m., unusual for me. Most of the haze from the last few days is gone and the sun is shining. Dson and I are making one last trip to pick up a few extra items to put in my storage unit.

I've had my breakfast and emptied the dishwasher. I'm just waiting for dson to come downstairs. He must have been down earlier before me because there is a fresh pot of coffee made!

Harriet, I should start knitting again. Learned long ago but only pull out the yarn sporadically. There's homemade decaf iced tea in my fridge so I can properly celebrate National Iced Tea Day today . Congrats to your dgs on his awards, & I hope your sleep issues resolve quickly.

Lady M, I love the visual of a village group hug with Dee in the center. I'm impressed that your dd12 wants to do her own packing -- good for her! Thanks for the map link you gave us with the smoke info. I've used it daily.

Rose, I'm so sorry about the shocking death of your dfriend in AZ.

Kathryn, I'm sorry you had to deal with smoke smell in your home despite all your best efforts to keep it out.

Nancy, happy to hear you are OK after strong storm.

Dh was working out in the yard this morning. When I hugged him after he came in his shirt smelled like smoke. That surprised him but not me. Air quality is much better but reports say smoke will linger for a while. I asked him not to put smoky clothes in the hamper but to bring them down to the laundry room.

This is the last day of Zone 2 which for me is Kitchen, Freezers & Pantries. It is also Saturday which is Projects & Pet Focus. I've always been so thankful to Pam & Peggy for coming up with this system, & also to Peggy's dh who originally came up with zones to keep their large yard maintained. I especially like that Zones & Daily focus plans are just a guide that I can follow or not, depending upon what is happening in life at the time. I only recently started following this plan again & am seeing a difference.

I'll inventory & organize the big freezer, plus the one with the fridge. I try to keep like things together but you wouldn't know that if you looked in them now . It's important to know what I have so I don't buy what I don't need. Pet focus on Saturdays takes very little time these days with only dcat. Her nails get trimmed monthly & dh brushes her every morning. It's so cute to see her sitting in front of the closet door every morning where her brush is kept, waiting for dh to finish his breakfast & brush her.

There are several projects to choose from but I haven't decided which one yet. Do know it will not be paperwork. Strombolis for dinner tonight.

I've been to a book sale in Niagara Falls. I also had to go and buy kitty litter.

Supper today will be pork chops done with homemade shake and bake. (Bread crumbs and my blend of Italian seasonings.)

Lazy day continues with just doing what I want and feels good. I've planted okra in the places where the seeds didn't sprout in the square foot garden area. I've PUPA, swish/swipe and vacuumed DD12 bathroom.

I'm putting frozen chicken nuggets and French fries in the air fryer. DH and I prefer to use our prepared & ready to use salad bar ingredients, but the kids would rather starve than eat a plate of vegetables. I would change this eating style of theirs If I could, but it is what it is.

Helped dstepson with jumper cables this morning, and he needed me right when it was the worst possible time for my hair, lol! So I have used heat curlers, which is rather rare for me, and will head out to the bday party.

The young man came and complimented the driveway's smoothness (must tell dcousin) and our new back screen door hydraulic closer - yay, it closes softly and sensibly! He says, "so much changes around here". LOL! No, we barely get anything done, but it's nice of him to say.

My day seems to have unraveled. Will you allow me the grace to pretend that fits with theme?!?

Nothing has happened. That's the problem. I had a full day with nothing on it in front of me but didn't get out of bed until 8. Dh woke me at 6 to listen to the news report - there's nothing we need to be paying attention to - and then turned it off to back to sleep again... sigh. I need to retrain this behaviour. I did fall asleep from 6:30 to 7:00, when his fidgeting woke me a second time.

Since then, I've had my tea and chocolate, watched some little birds eating insects from the spider webs on the outside of the balconies and ledges) and written some long posts on social media that the world would have survived just fine had I not shared my well thought out essays on building air conditioning, the cost of renovating aged buildings, the lack of building code revision to deal with our current climate and the detailed analysis of the bad behaviour of a Tesla trying out the latest version of the beta software (it was nearly rear-ended due to unexpected/unwarranted bad behaviour by the software.)

In our software update notes, the car is referred to as Ego and it is certainly appropriate, the software almost always behaves as if the whole world revolves around it and no-one else in the world matters, not their safety, not their comfort, not their right to have preferences different from those who programmed the car. In this case, the car had already rerouted itself inefficiently, twice, by missing turns it should have made but the big error was going from 35mph to 21mph before signaling it would move into a left turn lane and then not fully move into the lane, so it was sticking out into the thru-lane, but as slow as 7 mph (and that happened in the 3 seconds between putting on a turn signal, so a rapid deceleration.) Then it took 11 seconds to move from the end of the turn lane to the front, which meant for that time, no-one else could move into that lane.

Seriously, pay extra attention when driving near Teslas because there is no indication if the car is on Full-Self Driving test software. You should leave lots of space and be prepared for erratic behaviour as if you are following a drunk driver. (This is why I've only turned on my self-driving mode once to see if it is getting better.)

So now we are at noon and I'm still not dressed.

If I'm going to knit something figuratively out of this day it is likely to be a dishcloth and not even a scarf because I've wasted so much time today.

Harriet: it is affirming when someone notices the little changes. Of course, the most important part is to notice and appreciate them yourself because they are signs that you value yourself and your surroundings.

Right now, my 'little changes' are all in Amazon and Costco boxes blocking my dining room, front hall (that one weighs 70 pounds) and office.

I have knit up a dish cloth and finished it last night have been working on it this week. A star shaped one.
I did a smaller one earlier in the mo.
was going to do a yt of them and learned it was world knitting day so I shared mine with the world via my Idea Factory yt channel.
learning how to do voice overs this month on some of these.
The stitches needed are 10 for the smaller one and 14 for the larger one. I think I need to do up another one and write those # down as I do em!
For instruction on Very Pink Knitting / almost lost dishcloth pattern / that's where I learned.
After a long break bc I'd done so many up during the c-19 time I had not done any.
DD gave me some yarns in a pack for it a while back like over a year ago.
So I've been having fun deciding what ombre yarn to use!

I have been up since 6 it rained.
Learned they moved farmers mkt. to Thurs. so that is not happening today.
Did my qt planning journals and had bfast that is all.
Nearly 9:30 now.

my jeep engine lite is staying on.

Forgot to check the battery. sigh...
It sounds fine.
I just had it in for a service aka oil change.

Dog up the street stopped by for a brief visit & drink and to cool off in the shade my dog was ecstatic !
