108F and that isn't the feels like temp. I find it somewhat interesting that DS14 said it didn't seem that hot today. He worked in the heat the entire day cutting trees and hauling tree limbs to burn pile. His body has become used to the heat so he should be fine the rest of the summer. I love that his anxiety/ocd/add tendencies make it where he is very intentional about drinking lots of electrolytes.

I cooked frozen chicken nuggets in the air fryer and made a large pot of mashed potatoes for the family meal.

Geeze, LadyM. And I'm complaining about ninety degrees, lol. I walked the dog a lap earlier. With the collar instead of the harness, and liberal treats, she will walk our circle without pulling me like she's mule in a harness pushing with her back legs. There was an unleashed dog belonging to someone who was trimming shrubs at a neighbors. The unleashed dog was friendly but Millie is reactive so hard to keep her moving.

The KDP from my portfolio will likely be published by the TN genealogical society. I do wish there were a more "prestigious" journal for Tennessee, but it's what we have. Since I've used it in my portfolio I can't use it in four year for my renewal so it's just as well to get it out there. And right now I don't have the mettle to get it wrestled into book format.

It's smoky out this afternoon/evening. I think we're getting some smoke from the Canadian fires here. We have a west view and it looks like the old classic picture of the Smoky Mtns. Historically, this is a bad place for unhealthy air because of the mountains around.

Dh has had his sink wash. He didn't do his hair, but he's happier now. I used the last of the hot water to wash the hall and kitchen and living room floors.

Dh called a different company and has asked them to call him tomorrow.

I have last night's laundry doing the wrinkle free cycle and I have a small load in the washing machine.

I'm home from the VBS service. There were babies in attendance, but they all had multiple family members in attendance that were taking turns holding them. The VBS family service isn't like a normal service in that it is full of kids performing with lots of noise and motion. The babies were loving the commotion and attention. Once I knew no one needed the nursery then I came home.

Our VBS attendance is down this year. We had 96 kids today. However, there are FOUR teams from our little town playing in the finals of state baseball tournaments this week. That is easily 36+ kids between ages of 6-10 year old that are playing baseball at far away games. Not all of those kids would attend VBS if they didn't make it to the state play-offs but that explains the difference between 125 expected kids and 96 actual.

Back from 3 quick errands. I did a store run.
Got food to restock soda and some fast food for lunches next few days.
I have paid half of the 2 jobs getting done & picked up my decking color exciting!
Had my dinner.
Moved the rigs around.

Next up
I need to fill coffee maker and water in the yard maybe even mow a bit on the one side yard need to use up the mower fuel so we can change out the mower blade. We are going to be 10* hotter here tomorrow in the 90's.
My day has went well.

What's wonderful about your Wednesday? My "wonder" is that I have no out of the house appointments or commitments!

ME, TOO, Twins! PLUS -- I had no Nana-duty today either, and don't expect any tomorrow.

I really needed the rest, too. I slept approx. 11 hours last night, and then another hour this afternoon!
DGD texted me on her mom's phone and wanted me to take them swimming (after they got home from their Wonderful Wednesday church activity, which ddil chaperoned.) I didn't see the text message, and so she called on the phone. I told her noooo... it was too hot and I was too tired from this long weekend of activity! I told her we might go Friday or Saturday. We are in the "heat dome" now and the "extreme heat watch" will be over by Saturday, so that seems the best day for me -- but dh said we might have storms before the heat breaks.

It's not that horrible right now -- we just got back from supper. We weren't out in the sun or anything, but just getting in and out, it's not that "take your breath away" heat that we sometimes have.

Y'all, dgs seemed like he had the best birthday! He just looked like he was enjoying everything sooo much. The Braves won Monday, and we ate at one of his (all of our) favorite places, and then yesterday, he had the tacos he requested, cake and ice cream, gifts, and we played a game he wanted us to play -- Spontuneous. Quick version: It's a game where you come up with words (preferably obscure words) from songs, and you try to stump the other teams. If they can't come up with a song with that word, your team advances. If they do have a song with that word, (doesn't have to be the same song you had in mind, any song with that word works) they advance. You have to sing or say at least five words from the song, and it has to be a real song, LOL; you can't compose your own on the spot.
The more people you have, the more fun it is, so we don't play it a lot, but dbil and his girlfriend, and my dmom were willing to give it a try and we played it last night. The other grandparents had to leave after cake and gifts, because she works nights and he works early morning. We were in teams of three and dh, dmom, and I won, LOL! But dgs was so thrilled when he came up with one that stumped us all.

But after having one or both of these very, very dear grands since Friday afternoon, you can believe I needed a rest.
I've started the laundry now, which was much needed, and I need to wash a few dishes left in the sink. Thankfully, ddil brought most of the serving pieces we needed last night and took most of the mess home with her. We used paper plates, plastic forks, and drank out of bottles and cans, so most of the mess was easy clean-up.

Congratulations to your town baseball teams, LadyM! That's great to have 4 teams in the finals. And good for you, decluttering all the school supplies -- but hmmm... a two-drawer index card file DOES sound nice... Hope you get your laptop back on track soon.

And congratulations to Twins on being published!

Nancy, your house is going to look so good all fixed up. What color did you pick for the deck?

We had a hot water tank replaced a couple years ago. DH went to HD and brought one home. I don't know what he was thinking, he got a 50 gallon one which we didn't need...a 40 gallon would have been just fine. Now we use all that electric keeping all that water hot. I always give people a time to reply and don't get mad when they don't right away. I know how it is, working all day and then going home or back to office and trying to call everyone...it's exhausting. So a couple more days is nothing to wait. People tend to think they're the only customer these companies have. DH and I never had a minute to ourselves keeping up with it all. It's more important to know if the company is skillful and honest.

Our plumber couldn't come for a week. He was on vacation. We were happy to wait. Know it's hard to live without hot water, though.

Thinking about our repair and how we thought that was it for a little while...ah, no. Sunday the battery sounded sluggish starting up, but it did ok when I turned off the a/c first. I suggested to DH we should go and get it tested. Did he do that? NO! Today he had a dentist appointment and I took him up there and getting started to come home...I thought the poor car wasn't going to start at all. Finally it did. So... off to the store to have the battery tested. It was so dead it wouldn't even test. So we picked out a new battery but it was a 2-hour wait to get it installed. Of course, DH said he'd put it in and we brought it home. Well of course it wasn't an easy install. One cable to the battery post was falling apart, so up to next town to take the old battery back for core replacement credit and get parts to fix the cable. We didn't have enough tools with us so rode home and fixed it and went back with the old battery. Did y'all know those batteries are about 50 lbs? Good grief!

And with all the messing around, we were longer than 2 hours anyway. So much for letting the man do the fixing.

I don't know how hot it was today, it must have been high 90's but the garage has no cross ventilation and it was soooo hot and stuffy. First thing I did was come in and get out of my jeans and back into cotton capris. I've been sorta crampy today and not feeling tip-top, but that seemed to have passed.

DH has had another 2 cavities filled. He has one more scheduled and then work on 3 crowns. We will be broke by the time all this is done. He still has to have the cleaning done too.

I don't know how wonderful my day was...but at least we accomplished everything we needed to do today and THAT is wonderful.

Ugh. Just remembered I need to reconcile the bank statement. It arrived today. I hate doing that.

Plus just got the news that ds will not be able to go to the Opry with us for dh's birthday trip. That will make dh so sad. He doesn't know it yet. He's taking a nap right now. He's still having a LOT of pain and is worried that he will not be able to refill his pain meds Friday. But they only give him a 7-10 day supply. So surely they don't expect him to make it last a month, right?

Laundry is still progressing.

Today's wonderful was that we got out at mid-morning to find a reasonable parking space and get to go to the eyeglasses place. They had a sale, too. We each got a sensible pair - not anything designer, but new to us. I think mine will be better for making me look a bit younger, even if just because they are more normally high on the face rather than the big square-er wire-metal ones I have now, that seem to drag my face down. Now let's hope they allow the peripheral vision I need to maintain. I'm just SO glad to get the new prescription filled. If this doesn't seem to help enough, I am NOT above going out and getting another pair with larger frames, but I think it will be fine. It's not as if insurance helps any, anyway.

HRH got the same shape and type he always gets. But then, he doesn't wear them all the time so he's less concerned about fashion or "looks", lol.

We got the grocery shopping done afterward and things into the house before the heat of the day.

Hi everyone! Today's wonderful is the same as yesterday's and Monday's. The ex-feral cat who needs two liquid meds 2x a day is taking them without reverting to old ways. She finished one this evening. My Monday stunk! I took an injured cat to the vet in the morning, went to work, then picked her up. Then, I found one of the other cats in need of the ER and had to drive all the way back to a block from work! (Cat 1 = eye injury now healed, Cat 2 = UTI with lots of blood, no blood now). DD21's dog had a vet trip the same day. He may have tumors and is not in good enough physical condition for surgery (geezer dog). The good news is that he is not in pain, just gets nose bleeds.

I've done much of my before bed routine, still need to do the catboxes and shower. I have done my workout and run some errands. I have committed to taking the camper out as a "home base" at the fireworks show and a campout later in July. I must be at work a little early tomorrow.

Did I tell you that Elizabeth's Own Appliance Repair fixed my washer this weekend and also the dryer vent? It's a lot cleaner back there too. Gotta go, good night!
