Haiti
I'm not familiar with the program you mentioned but I am familiar with some aspects of Haiti because our small church has been supporting a church & school in Gonaives Haiti for decades. Many of the members of our church has made countless trips to Haiti to work over the years until it became so dangerous. Now our church members don't travel there but just send money for them to purchase food & supplies. We get frequent reports, pictures and videos from those who continue to live & work there. It is NOT an easy place to live.

This morning planned activities were accomplished without any problems.

Taking a quick break to have morning smoothie before continuing my day.

LadyM… I just finished my protein shake that I make for lunch. The house if filled with music which I love and I am finally feeling like myself at the moment… it’s been a very tough week trying to adjust to this medicine. I was getting very little sleep with next to no energy and feeling exhausted through out the day.

I didn’t take my medicine last night and took it this morning. I was able to sleep and so far to day my energy has been great… hope it continues. I’ve been to the grocery store, has my shake and am about to fold a load of laundry. Still have two more to go, but at least I feel like doing it

RR - That is great progress to make in timing your meds to work with your body. YGG!

DD12 text me they had a school active shooting alarm happening. Then a few seconds later she texts that it was fake alarm. A drill. 18 minutes later the school robot phone call said they had an "Impromptu active shooter drill" The school said they were not aware the drill was going to happen. I AM NOT PLEASED. This is cr*p to scare the kids like that! DD12 wanted to come home but then a few minutes later decided she would stay at school. I am one of many furious parents right now. I remember my fear from 50+ years ago when we practice in school for atom bombs (during the cold war?). We put thick books on top of our heads and got underneath our desk. Years later I learned our close proximity to the military base would be a priority location to take out which meant we wouldn't survive a bomb blast so why did they even have us practice?

I just ordered some Calming meds for DBro's horse. I might be tempted to try them (Just joking). Thinking peaceful calming thoughts......

LOL, LadyM, we all could use a round of those calming meds!

I had a great workout - actually did a lot of weight on the chest press machine. I asked her jokingly what the max I had done was and we did a little more, I think. Did more weight on several upper body machines too, and did some stretching and rolling on my hip. Anyway, I can hardly move now. I need to s2s soon too. (I've made my step goal for the day.)

LadyM, the Haitian program is a children's nutrition program based here. Dh's Rotary is a sponsor.

Obviously, this was sitting awhile here. We're leaving soon.

Back from babysitting and a Costco run on the way home.

Chicken for dinner again (4th time in a row, and then again tomorrow night too!)

Panicking because I only got two items done today. Confirmed, despite the second notice to renew (which is actually the third), the renewal I did on September 4 actually went through (despite all the evidence to the contrary from additional renewal notices.) Also are working out the rental agreement with a phone call. Ds's dogs might be a problem. The suggestion is we sign the lease saying it says no and then bring them up the first week of May to see how they do with the cottage, the foxes, and the dog two cottages away.

I'm going to close my eyes for 15 minutes to see if that gives me more energy this evening.

Kathryn …your son could always kennel his dog or find a dog sitter while he’s gone if that’s a problem

LadyM… no books on my head only had to take cover under our desks .

For the third time this month, some company cut the fiber cable line.. no internet for a while

Well, I could use some horse meds too... definitely not thriving here.

Everything was just FINE, until I called to congratulate dgrands on good report card. I was lying down and complaining with sore throat when ds called.
It never fails, when we call ds or ddil, it seems we call at the wrong time. They are eating, or ds is in the middle of something on his computer (he is working on a history of our high school football team), or someone is sleeping, or SOMETHING. Y'all know, you have heard me say so many times -- ds is really a wonderful son... but I hate to be the one who calls HIM. Of course, when he calls over here, he will happily talk for an hour or more.
It would have still been just FINE, if I had only talked to dgrands, but dh wanted me to find out (1) when/what kind of cake ds wanted for his birthday and (2) for certain is ddil not going to next home football game.
My goodness.
After that was settled and we got off the phone with him, then dh calls dbil to get the extra ticket to sell.
Well... that conversation led to info that dniece and dnephew will be coming to this same game, and past experience makes us fear dnephew will come on Friday night, while we are all there. Dnephew will rightly think he has access to the second bed and bathroom, and ds will be beyond aggravated. :!: If dnephew does NOT go, ds will figure better to ask forgiveness than permission, and he will sleep on dbil's bed and use his bathroom, and we will not have to share.
And of course, we won't know for sure until at least next Thursday, when we celebrate ds' birthday. SIGH. BIG HUGE SIGH. And ds will be even MORE aggravated if he thinks we withheld any of this information from him.

The thing is, this is one of only two games ds will get to see. And dh wants so badly for him to go with us. So dh definitely doesn't want to do anything to cause ds to back out at this point.

UGH.

Otherwise, I have done nothing today except go to book fair with dgd. That was fine; she only wanted two books, and I had to encourage her to look for the second one.
My throat hurts, and now I'm upset about this ballgame situation. (It's the weekend of the 20-21, so nothing will be settled for 8 days.)

I'm from the era of sit in the hall and wait for a tornado drill... and sometimes go outside for fire drills. And of course, after I started teaching, we had to have active shooter drills. Sometimes the local police would bring the drug dog in to walk around random classrooms. There was only once that I was aware of a real threat being made at school, and I did notify principal. Nothing came of it. When ds was in school (and I was teaching) we had a principal who made it his mission to stop drug activity, and there was a huge big deal made about that. He had a boy arrested in the lunchroom in front of everyone, and he brought in an undercover agent who made a few more arrests. But no one ever felt threatened by any of that, except the ones who were dealing drugs.

So glad you are feeling better, Rose!!!
And lots of good wishes that (((Cathy))) will soon be past this injury and feel better too!!!

So much I need to do and so little time to do it. DH noticed that we (I) have something every day next week...
tomorrow... dgd...
Saturday... dgs...
Sunday... church/both dgrands
Monday... church meeting, dh will need clothes ironed
Tuesday... teacher group
Wednesday... likely babysitting while ds/ddil go to parent conferences
Thursday... haircuts and ds' birthday party
Friday... go to college town
Saturday... ballgame
Sunday... everything all over again
MONDAY THE 23RD -- FREE DAY?????
Tomorrow is another day.

Sorry I was cranky lately. Really bad throbbing pain during and after knitting group. Furnace guy got here shortly after I got home. I had something to eat and a couple of Ty lenols... not "horse" pills, as I call the longer types of medications. The antibiotics I'm on are that type of size, so a bit difficult for me.

I ended up having a nap. Dh had supper alone. When I finally did go to have some, there wasn't anything left other than broth. ... LOL! I have had some bread and butter, and I am a bit hungry. I see another couple of pieces of bread and butter later.

Realized that I hadn't brought the compost container up from the road, so I did that in the dark. It was very quiet and peaceful out there.

Home from funeral and meal. This is one of the smallest funeral meals we have served with only 30 family & friends. The amount of work isn't greatly reduced with smaller amounts of people because all the same processes have to happen. We use real silverware, tablecloths, napkins, etc for funeral meals. All the food that is left from the meal is packaged up and delivered to the family home. ANYway, it is done.

DD12 said the bell started ringing and loud speaker came on saying "ACTIVE SHOOTER ALERT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL" over and over. They knew what to do because they have practice and DD12 said everyone immediately responded. The teacher locks the classroom door and puts the door stop then piles multiple desks in front of the door to barricade it. All the students huddle together in a designated corner and stay quiet. DD12 said the scary part was the loud speaker saying it was not a drill over and over because when they have had practices before those words were not used. The information I've been told is no one set off the active shooter alert alarm and that it went off by itself. I do trust the admin in this school and know they will be through in finding out the cause.

Tomorrow morning is going to be an early one. DS15 must be in a nearby town at 7am to do his 6 hours of student driving to finish that course. I have to be in the city at 8am for ultrasound of gall bladder area. I will be fasting.....which means without coffee! **gasp!!*** You can bet I will have a thermos of coffee with me so I can enjoy a sip the moment I get out of that test. ANYway, I'm going to then get my flu shot. DH and I decided we will get his on a different day so we won't both be having a possible reaction at the same time. Someone needs to be on duty and monitoring the kids. I hope we haven't waited too late to get the flu shots this year. We have several close friends who tested positive for flu A already, so that strain of flu is in our community. Also, other friends testing positive for covid but that seems to happen so much that it is common. (when did covid become normal?)
