Nothing = comfort for me like my grandmother's quilt -- I mean, the one she made for me when she and I got married. It's very heavy and If I'm really sick, or just really sad, it's what I need to wrap around me. I do keep afghans on the couch and recliner year-round, and I just can't sleep without some type of cover, so that's also a go-to anytime of the year. I keep the house at 74 degrees year round, also, so it's usually cool enough to have a light afghan handy.
Comfort foods are basically crackers and diet coke... especially if my stomach is off a bit. Sometimes I do find myself wanting some chicken noodle soup.
My mother has been out here, to pick up some rx's I got for her yesterday. She was supposed to be coming out after church, but it turned out she did not go to church. Her stomach is more than a bit off, and apparently, her comfort food is Bluebell ice cream. She said that was all she had eaten. I told her that was not exactly what one should eat (especially if one is lactose intolerant!) when her stomach is out of sorts, but you know... 79-year-olds don't take advice from their children very well. I felt bad about her coming out here -- her tremor is pretty bad today and she was having difficulty remembering names etc. more so than usual, she thinks. But at any rate, she came and went.
While we were waiting on her, dgd wanted to go out and sit on the swing, and we did. Then dgd asked when I had watered my flowers, so we did that.
Like I told y'all yesterday, they spent the night with the other grandparents, but both came home with me from church, and we ate lunch at a chicken fingers place in town.
They are, surprisingly, playing very well together at the moment. That could change at any time.
DS just called. He will be home sometime tomorrow, but I've got to take dgs to school in the morning, then have dgd ready to go to the dermatologist when ddil comes for her, and then, at 11:00, I am meeting DFriend for lunch.
I certainly hope the other grandparents don't want to make this weekend a regular routine. I like having the dgrands' one-on-one. (Although it IS nice to have them together when they are getting along and DGS can help entertain dgd.) OTOH... last night was rough. I don't feel like I slept for over 30 minutes at a time. And I sorta had a crying jag, thinking about College Town, and my fears and worries about going alone with the dgrands, vs my wanting to take them and keep our traditions alive. I know things will work out somehow, but right now, I don't feel very confident about it.
Play time is over, children are hungry.
Y'all have a good evening!
