Re: Monday Waiting room PWYC
I need to s2s and gather a few more things and I'm out the door. Maybe lunch too. Oh, and walk the dog again.
I took care of HOA checks, will mail Wed. because the mail has already run today.

Saw a sparrow hawk when I was in the garden earlier that was kinda cool.
Did my spinning for today.
Ddoggo needs a rinse off after digging for mice heading out for that.

(((Bittersweet))) What a busy week you had with your DMom. I'm glad your DSis came to tag team with you. Being in the hospital with a critically ill loved one is exhausting. Remember to take care of you!
I am working my way through some overdue SHE cards. They aren't critical but they are important. I am thankful to have the SHE card reminders so they won't fall through the cracks.
The final box of curriculum arrived in the mail today. I need to develop a lesson plan for it and put daily assignments on DS16 calendar. We are using 4 Math and 2 ELA curriculums this semester. 3 are online and 3 are books.
DD13 has an appointment with her counselor at 5:30 today. I will pick her up from school, drive to city, go out to eat, counselor appointment and hopefully be home by 7:30

I am home from part one of my root canal. I look like I’ve been punched in the mouth and Sweetie agrees. Started taking ibuprofen and Tylenol before the Novocain wears off. Good thing I have soup and yogurt. Gonna need it for a few days

That list has been taken care of, and dMum's clothes have been dropped off. Now we're waiting for the doc to come around and give his seal of approval. I'm hoping it's soon, because they have to arrange transport for dMum back to the care centre, and I'm not sure how late that can happen. If he discharges her too late to transport, there's likely to be a full scale meltdown from dMum.
Update - the doc has signed off on dMum's discharge, and they are going to be getting her ready for transport back home. If all goes well, she should be back in time for supper, and to watch her baseball game (she's an avid Blue Jays fan).
Now that's out of the way, I can get a few more things done around here:
- put away clean dishes
- wipe kitchen counters
- vacuum (again! I just vacuumed yesterday, but Super Storm the Wonder Dog is shedding like crazy at the moment)
- put/throw away 10 things from my desk
- put/throw away 10 things from the dining room table

(((Ramblin'))) - hoping the healing is fast.
bittersweet, so happy for your mother and you and family, too. Hope her team wins the game - how wonderful to have a normal evening.
Twins', are you by yourself or with dh? Have a great time at library. Learn bunches.
Cathy, that is way interesting about your dd - I'm not sure I realized she had been in the US traveling so much, too.
It was taco night here. We watched a Perry Mason, Ramblin'.

Re: Monday Waiting room PWYC
I disappeared yesterday, first because I was 'doing nothing' after a very busy few days and then because of power failure (just a few minutes but it triggered tasks prepping in case of a longer one) and finally because internet died.
The morning wasn't bad for rain but we had heavy rain at times in the afternoon. No big thunder or lightening, just rain and wind. I did a load of laundry, using the dryer and saved the other two loads for today.
Then with no internet and still poor weather we headed out to the big town today instead of doing laundry and cleaning first. We had breakfast at a diner, walked around a bit and then did our errands and came home at 2:45. Internet was back on by 11 so we knew we didn't have to linger (another renter let us know it was on.)
All the internet is fed to the rental cabins through our cabin so everyone showed up here at 9! We plugged our phone into the Bell line and left the cabin open and told everyone they could come in and work on the issues while we were gone. Turns out the issue was a loose connection in a different, weekly-rent cabin between our cabin and the satellite and will be properly fixed by our seasonal neighbour once the current person there leaves tomorrow.
After 4 months we are finally starting to get to know our neighbours better!
When we got back the maintenance couple showed up to work on the squirrel problem. We know one of the places the squirrels were getting into the soffit, so that has been stuffed with steel wool and vinegar soaked rags. He inspected the attic but can't see under the insulation. We had already patched the hole chewed through the ceiling tile with tape so we'll see what happens now.
Once back from town I ran a load of beach towels and hung them out to start drying. It was cold and grey out but windy and they got about 1/2 dry on the line after 3 hours and are inside on the drying rack now. I also had a roaring fire tonight because it was so cold (and turned the furnace back on, I had that off from earlier this trip when the thermostat needed reprogramming and I was too busy to deal with it.)
In town one errand was a new halogen bulb for the lamp on the porch. Turns out when the bulb blew, it took out the transformer (or, more likely, the transformer took out the bulb) so there's no light at the porch sitting area for now. It is a luminaire style light so I'll see if one shows up at the stuff swap this week. Otherwise, I'll buy one from IKEA before coming back up here.
DD and family arrive tomorrow. I have done nothing towards my desk-work responsibilities for the 17 days I've been away. We are hear until Wednesday, then I'll be home for just 5 days, before coming back by myself to clean up after dd's family used the place. I'll only be here a couple of nights, then head home and bring dh back with me, I guess around Sept. 1.
Dh just noted he's home only about 16 days between now and December. Africa, Europe, Asia, and of course, the cottage. I'm looking forward to that time alone!
My trips back and forth from now on will entail taking things back home so that the final trips won't be that hard. It will only be me here for September 22 to October 21 (not all at once, I'll come and go) so not as much stuff will be needed.
It was really cold all day and I was grateful for the heated seats and long drive in the car. The fire has now died down so I'll head to bed now. Tomorrow I'll reload the firewood container in here and on the porch. I'm short kindling and several of the pieces the kids had brought for me were too long for the wood stove, so I've set those aside for them to use for a campfire while they are here. The weather is freezing now but will be hot by the weekend. I only got in swimming 3 times this trip due to the cold and rain. Not that I mind at all but after being in the water every day the previous time I was here, it was a surprise.
