Monday Waiting room PWYC

Post by Lady Maverick »

RR has surgery today on her leg.

I am setting up our virtual waiting room to support her.

It is a BYFD (Bring your favorite drink) and BYFF (Bring your favorite food) type of virtual event.

I am bringing my favorites and sharing with everyone.
Black Coffee
Unsweet Tea
Breakfast burritos

Thank you for such a thoughtful start LadyM.

I have yogurt and sweet iced tea with lemon for those who would like some.

Thinking of RRose this morning.

I just launched DD13 to school. DS16 has volunteered to drive DD13 to school so that is one less trip for me to do. DS16 will return home to do his homeschool lessons before he leaves for work.

I have DS16 homeschool books laid out on the table. The assignments for today are on his google calendar.

No driving for me and homeschool lessons ready. *** Sweet moment ****

Thank you for starting us out, LadyM. I'm getting a bit of a late start but am trying to get moving. Ddog certainly hopes I am walking her soon, at least.

I'm going to Nash-vegas this afternoon - pick up dcousin's remains and go to library tomorrow. Home tomorrow p.m. Trying to get my energy going, I always do like going off on an adventure on my own. Before I leave, perhaps around two p.m., I need to straighten the house, pay a couple of HOA bills, pack a few things and go.

It is sweet indeed, LadyM!

I hope Ramblin's procedure goes as smoothly as the similar one her friend told her about. That sounded optimistic.

Thanks for the refreshments! My dmother used to make a pitcher of tea every day, Cathy, and it would be ready the next day, according to my ddad, who believed it mellowed so much overnight that it was much better. He would peer into the fridge and gauge the readiness of the tea by the cloudiness of it. She put in so much lemon that one joke (by those asking for seconds, please) was that she liked a little tea in her lemonade.

Cathy, am I remembering correctly that your dd enjoyed the sport of Roller Derby? I have a vague memory of her even playing for. perhaps, a farm team to the pros? The subject came up with friends lately, who have a family member who enjoyed it and said most people around our area don't know anyone who played. I said, well, wait a minute, maybe I do, but couldn't be sure. Takes lots of training and agility, they were saying, a very underrated sport.

I think I feel better. Fingers crossed, I don't have that "where's the thermometer" feeling and I am not having to sit down after each small chore. Cooked breakfast this morning and wasn't looking around for a chair afterward, lol. The dishes are put away and it was me who did it - I can find everything in the drawers, lol.

Did the back yard walk about.
Had bfast eventually just before our walk.
Feeling better after my walk good air today here is a blessing and 61* / 89* temps. help as well.
I dusted a couple of things when I first got up this morning.
I am mending slowly,

Basement walk about still to do. Done.
Waving to all!
-----
Update went back to bed & rested a bit.
Then got up and did some "gardening" watered and scattered some seeds where I wanted them to be next spring.
Pulled out some pollinators that I did not like as well as other things.
Ddoggo started it digging for mice and some iris roots were dug out ~
I have plenty and will not mind them in a diff. spot like up by the new deck. . .
so I put them up there I need to dig em in a bit more.
Heading back out to do that next up. Done plus I picked up the unwanted plants I pulled out.
Cat nip mint type stuff.

LadyM … my surgery is on Thursday but my nasty root canal is today and I don’t wanna go  it’s my big front tooth and the dentist is trying to save it. I’d rather have surgery on my leg than this!

Harriet…did your mom put a pinch of baking soda in her tea so it wouldn’t get cloudy. Know that’s a southern thing and my MIL did and sometimes I do when I remember.

(((( RR))))))
I always do like going off on an adventure on my own.
This makes me smile. Have a great trip filled with good moments.

Homeschool is done. The final 2 years of high school is a new experience for DS16 because he only has 2 mandatory classes (Math and English). It only took him an hour today to finish the assignments. Some of DS16 friends in public school only have 3 hours of classes because they have completed mandatory classes. They have Math, English and PE because they play sports. I've seen pictures of them sleeping until noon then going to school during the afternoon. Some are using those "free" morning hours to take college or votech classes. DS16 girlfriend goes to votech in morning and then plays sports in the afternoon. I asked about Math and English and was told those are included in the votech class.

The local handy man will be here around noon to give a quote on replacing the bathtub. There aren't a lot of options so we will give him thumbs up unless he gives an outrageous quote.

30 SHE cards completed.

Whew! What a week this has been!! Dmum ended up in the hospital last Sunday, and - at one point - we thought we might lose her. She has, however, once again pulled a rabbit out of her hat and should be getting discharged today. My dsis flew out from Otttawa, and has been here since Monday afternoon, so we've been taking turns staying at the hospital during the day. It was a flare up of either her congestive heart failure, her COPD, or both. The docs originally thought she might have aspirated something, but they really couldn't find any evidence of it on the x-rays.

As for food and drink, I've brought some cream and sugar for LadyM's coffee, and a big plate of fresh fruit to share.

Positive thoughts that RR's surgery goes well today.

So glad to hear you're on the mend, [Harriet!

Safe journey to Nash-Vegas, Twins'!

I have a few things to get done around here before I head over to the hospital to drop off dMum's clean clothes for her trip back home today. Because of her high physical care needs, she'll be transported by ambulance.

Dbrother and dsisinlaw are coming over for a visit in four weeks! They haven't been over since before the pandemic (especially since they're both "anti-vaxxers"), and it will be wonderful to see them again! They'll be here for about two weeks.

I'd best get moving:

- feed ddoggos
- take meds
- wash dishes

Harriet my dd skated for the rep team for Toronto. They traveled to many cities in the States. She also skated on a non-rep team and on the men's team because her bf at the time skated for the men's team and they needed a certain number of skaters for a game. As far as I know, she is no longer skating, but still goes and supports all the teams.
