We are home from bank errand to get cash for the month. On the way home I went through drive through and got 10 cheeseburgers. I hate feeding the teens processed & fast food but that is all they want. Real food is here and available, but they won't touch it.

Home with 6 internal stitches and 7 on top. Watched the entire procedure, cut, sniped and stitched. Worst was the lidocaine shot, but I survived

Stopped n the way home and took Sweetie to lunch at steak and shake. Ate my hamburger without a bun, but did eat some FFs. Also stopped a target and then came home.

Can’t shower for 48 hours. Can’t use the pool for a week and can’t swim in the ocean until the stitches come out in two weeks. No exercise classes for a few days either. Otherwise all is well. :D:

Ugh, I let my oral health down while recuperating and I'm paying for it now. I need fillings in five areas - some of those had been on the "watch" list for several years. I need to start using a prescription stuff after brushing and flossing and let it stay on the teeth for 30 min without eating or drinking. Ugh. Recommends water pic too and special mouthwash for p.m. Ugh.

I'm glad it's done RR. On to the healing!

I napped again today.

(((RR))) Glad the surgery went well and hopefully the recovery will be quick and smooth.

(((Twins))) I'm right there with you in dealing with oral health issues. Not fun at all

DD13 stayed after school to help design the classroom float. I picked her up and took to get a treat for surviving the first week of school. I received an email from her math teacher that DD13 was his best student. When i told DD13 she sighs and said, "I know". He won't let me answer the questions anymore because I am always the first to raise my hand. He wants to give others a chance to answer. I love that this is DD13 "problem".

DS16 has left to attend a fair with girlfriend and another friend.

The only thing thriving around here is my cough. My goodness... it hurts from my head down to my hips when I cough. Once I got strangled and threw up, so now I'm keeping the bucket close by. Nose is still stuffy and I'm keeping a roll of toilet paper close by too, since I used up all the Kleenex... but.... ugh... TMI. I took my temperature but it was only 99.1.

I did manage to send the teacher group an email like our vp asked me to yesterday.

ALSO... sold all six of my football tickets for this weekend. My cousin wanted them, and he was willing to pay face value ($210 total) but I told him to just make it $200. I would never have gotten that much if I had sold them online. We are playing a team that is one of the smaller schools in our state, and we are definitely expected to win. The only drawing card is that it's the first game of the season. This is the one dgs said he didn't care if we went or not, he expects us to win by 70 points. LOL. (I do NOT expect that.) I fully intended to go, until ds found out he could not go with us. Dcousin said he will take his wife, son, son's girlfriend, and maybe his mom (my aunt) will want to go.That leaves him still with one extra, so I don't know who else he will add to the group.
He also said he'd look at my truck in the morning when he comes to get the tickets.
So I guess my salesman persona is thriving as well. ;)

I haven't cried any today, been too busy coughing and blowing my nose, I guess.

Glad (((Rose))) is home and sending lots of wishes for easy recovery!
Also sending (((HUGS))) for future dentist appts to Twins and LadyM. It's certainly easy to neglect dental care when you're not well... I don't think I brushed my teeth last night. :?

WTG to LadyM's dd! She is really blossoming, it seems. This is a good problem to have. :)

Independent thinking IS very new and unusual for me... like you've all said, Rose. I love Cathy's dh's advice. I appreciate all your input. I did mention this to the group at GriefShare, and they seem to think/understand that it is natural to want to do what the other person "would want" me to do. They also expressed confidence that if I DID take on this trip, I could do it and would be proud of myself... but that didn't make me feel a lot better. "Following my gut" is very "iffy" advice, though, because my gut always says, "I'm nervous about this." And then my gut says, "I think I'm going to throw up."
I just don't know if dbil and his fiance will want to take dgs on their own -- although they HAVE taken dbil's/dh's blind cousin, in year's past, and plan to again this season -- an adult, but probably more "trouble" to keep up with than dgs! Everything is cashless now, but ds and ddil said they had thought of that, of course, and they could give dbil $$ to cover dgs' food.
DGS is very well behaved, and he talks a lot but he also can entertain himself endlessly on his phone.
This independent thinking for yourself is very new to you after years of always meeting other expectations. Be brave and do what you want to do and don’t worry about what you think are others expectation are of you. Most of the time what you think is what is important. Follow your gut and do YOU, not what others have done in the past.
Very true -- I'm AM too concerned about what people think of ME, and what they expect ME to do... and this really should not concern me at all. If I don't want to go on Saturday, it should be ds and ddil's problem to get dgs there if he wants to go. I would like to see that game, I think, but not if I have to get up early on Saturday and fight game-day traffic to do it. :? Sigh.

I'm going to take some Nyquil and go to bed.
Tomorrow is another day.

Nancy, I am with you on the swing between feeling happy to be able to be left alone, but noticing that there's so much attention for those who have greater needs. I don't think I would ever call you "jealous"! Very self-aware of you, though, to pull yourself out of any mood about it and get past it, doing what you want.

(((Ramblin'))) That sounds like so many stitches when you "hear" it. I'm amazed that you felt like going for lunch afterward, but your sweetie was probably very glad about it after waiting so long. Hope you heal so fast you surprise the dr.

LadyM, you would have been amused at my conversation with dgdC at supper table last evening. I explained collards to her, then kale. I was smiling. She was looking at me as though I was from another planet. She described a smoothie she thought would be good - no surprise, all the fruits I put in, none of anything else, lol.

Twins', I think this is a question of bandwidth and happens to everyone. It's not that we mean to let any area of life "down", it's that our efforts and brainpower must be trained on some priorities and the list may just get too long. It is literally impossible to keep everything at the top of the list, and especially when our brain cells have an "all hands on deck" situation, they are not so different from our blood cells! Rushing to an urgent priority means leaving some other things. Anyway, don't beat yourself up! Water Pics sort of have a fun reputation.

lucylee, I don't know why I have kept a cough. 99.1 is commonplace as I often glance because I "just feel like it could be". Have two thermometrs and the other always says slightly less. Everyone keeps saying "your lungs are clear, this must be drainage". But I've got to quit the clar itan and musi nex because they make me feel dry (and maybe this is one thing that also makes me feel it could be a fever, since my eyes don't feel good). I'm going to spend a week without dairy, in case the cheese I've had lately has made drainage worse, which it is known to do at times. Otherwise, comfortable or not, I'm doing without those OTC meds a while. Could try sleeping on a wedge, but I hate that. Anyway, hoping you feel better soon, and IKWYM!
