The only thing thriving around here is my cough. My goodness... it hurts from my head down to my hips when I cough. Once I got strangled and threw up, so now I'm keeping the bucket close by. Nose is still stuffy and I'm keeping a roll of toilet paper close by too, since I used up all the Kleenex... but.... ugh... TMI. I took my temperature but it was only 99.1.
I did manage to send the teacher group an email like our vp asked me to yesterday.
ALSO... sold all six of my football tickets for this weekend. My cousin wanted them, and he was willing to pay face value ($210 total) but I told him to just make it $200. I would never have gotten that much if I had sold them online. We are playing a team that is one of the smaller schools in our state, and we are definitely expected to win. The only drawing card is that it's the first game of the season. This is the one dgs said he didn't care if we went or not, he expects us to win by 70 points. LOL. (I do NOT expect that.) I fully intended to go, until ds found out he could not go with us. Dcousin said he will take his wife, son, son's girlfriend, and maybe his mom (my aunt) will want to go.That leaves him still with one extra, so I don't know who else he will add to the group.
He also said he'd look at my truck in the morning when he comes to get the tickets.
So I guess my salesman persona is thriving as well.
I haven't cried any today, been too busy coughing and blowing my nose, I guess.
Glad (((
Rose))) is home and sending lots of wishes for easy recovery!
Also sending (((HUGS))) for future dentist appts to
Twins and
LadyM. It's certainly easy to neglect dental care when you're not well... I don't think I brushed my teeth last night.
WTG to
LadyM's dd! She is really blossoming, it seems. This is a good problem to have.
Independent thinking IS very new and unusual for me... like you've all said,
Rose. I love
Cathy's dh's advice. I appreciate all your input. I did mention this to the group at GriefShare, and they seem to think/understand that it is natural to want to do what the other person "would want" me to do. They also expressed confidence that if I DID take on this trip, I could do it and would be proud of myself... but that didn't make me feel a lot better. "Following my gut" is very "iffy" advice, though, because my gut always says, "I'm nervous about this." And then my gut says, "I think I'm going to throw up."
I just don't know if dbil and his fiance will want to take dgs on their own -- although they HAVE taken dbil's/dh's blind cousin, in year's past, and plan to again this season -- an adult, but probably more "trouble" to keep up with than dgs! Everything is cashless now, but ds and ddil said they had thought of that, of course, and they could give dbil $$ to cover dgs' food.
DGS is very well behaved, and he talks a lot but he also can entertain himself endlessly on his phone.
This independent thinking for yourself is very new to you after years of always meeting other expectations. Be brave and do what you want to do and don’t worry about what you think are others expectation are of you. Most of the time what you think is what is important. Follow your gut and do YOU, not what others have done in the past.
Very true -- I'm AM too concerned about what people think of ME, and what they expect ME to do... and this really should not concern me at all. If I don't want to go on Saturday, it should be ds and ddil's problem to get dgs there if he wants to go. I would like to see that game, I think, but not if I have to get up early on Saturday and fight game-day traffic to do it.

Sigh.
I'm going to take some Nyquil and go to bed.
