(((Cathy & DH)))) Waiting for the unknown is so hard.
Dove - I am looking forward to your recipe. It sounds amazing.
bittersweet - Is it an option for them to not visit your home? I totally understand the panic in prepping for company. You already have so much that you are juggling and taken care of without adding this stress on top of those things. If possible, I would arrange to meet them somewhere else and put the focus on enjoying your time together. (((Hugs)))
More sorting, deep cleaning and decluttering is happening. I went through 3 boxes of my hair care things and decluttered 1/3 of it. I tend to wear my long hair in multiple styles, so I use a variety of clips, barrettes, ties, scrunchies, bands, curlers, dryer, and flat iron.

Re: Welcomed Home - Happy Sunday September 8, 2024
Welll. that round is done. I did go through some stuff downstairs - some went in the trash, some into a box for Goodw*ll, and some set aside (art supplies). Then I came back upstairs, and filled another box from the back bedroom. There's some yarn in that box that I had wanted to donate to a local seniors' centre, but they never got back to me. Out it goes. Someone else can use it, I'm sure! It's expensive blanket yarn, but the project it was going to be used for is not going to happen, so I really have no use for it.
I've also filled two large shopping bags one for work with cat curtains and little stuffed toys, and one with crate blankets that I crochet for a local cat rescue. Those will get taken with me tomorrow. A few more teaspoons from the ocean of clutter. Next up is the dining room - there's a bookcase in there with a bunch of gardening books that need to go on the bookshelves downstairs.
It is an option for them to not visit the house LadyM, but then I'd probably have to explain why. When they've flown 7000 miles to see me (and other family), it just seems a bit inhospitable to tell them they can't come over for a cup of tea. They haven't been over since several years before the pandemic. It's a quandary for sure.

Bsweet… can you just focus on the areas that your company will see? I just finished decluttering all my closets. I got rid of stuff like your wool knowing I would never do the projects that I thought I would. I unloaded most of my custom jewelry and pins I wore while working. Same with clothes.
Like LadyM mentioned making hundred of decisions during the processes can be exhaustion. However I realized that while I was teaching I had to do that day in and day out without realizing it. I also whittled down my books as well. All had been read by me and I was keeping them because someday I might reread them.
I also let go of much of my teaching materials. This was the fourth time I had gone through them since I retired 12 years ago. For me the hardest part was letting go of all my camping equipment, including my two man tent. It’s not that I don’t want to go camping again, it’s the realization that I have no one to go with anymore.
It’s hard to let go to so many things that had been important to me through out my life. It’s sort of like a slow good bye to my past life.

It's a ☙⊰ Mystery ⊱❧ kind of day!
Hoping blessed dmother feels better.
LadyM, how is ds' foot?
Ramblin', how's the recovery going from dental appt?
Dove, the kitty is probably saying it's too hot to nap and may even be thinking he/she is encouraging you to come back down!
Watched church service and enjoyed that.
Went out shopping this afternoon with 4 grandboys at a semi-nice dept store - found two pairs of pants and a shirt, which was not the greatest success, but helpful. Dstepson rode along and spent some of his shopping time in the home improvement store until coming to help search for guy's cargo pants which were nowhere to be found. Maybe out of fashion? Dstepson says just go to WMart.
Later we all had Mexican food at a restaurant near the store. Quite good.
I was disappointed to go into a coughing spell in the store. Thankfully, I had one of HRH's peppermints in my purse, so I didn't make anyone too alarmed. Held it together and smiled mutely until we got to the checkout where I could pretend I really wanted the gummy bears.
bittersweet, remember delegation if it could be any help. It won't be as perfect as if you had done it, but might get you close, and you could touch-up. Possibly ask for time off work if it's coming to you (I realize you'll want that when they arrive, though.) We are pulling for you!!!

Re: Welcomed Home - Happy Sunday September 8, 2024
I took down the curtains in the new-to-me bathroom. They are curtains I didn't pick, and they don't bring me joy. Those curtains are going to be given to someone. That meant the 3'x3' bathroom window facing the road was clear and available for anyone to see in. I was okay with leaving it like that until I could decide what window treatment I wanted. DH thought the window needed to be covered ASAP. So we made a quick trip to WM to get window blinds.
Having 3 bathrooms changing at the same time is a more change than my mind can keep up with. I bought a new shower curtain for DS16 new-to-him bathroom and another new shower curtain to put up after Friday when DH bathroom gets a new tub/shower. I found a covered trash can to put in my new-to-me bathroom. Thinking....I wish I had bought another one of these covered trash cans to put in DD13 bathroom.
I got an oval shaped shower rod and clips for DH bathroom and a rug to put in my bathroom. I need to put these bathroom things in place and use them before deciding if anything else needs to be changed.
While shopping at WM I got several calls from DS16. I didn't have any bars on my phone so his calls kept dropping before we could talk. I text DS16 and told him that I didn't have good cell reception, but he could text me instead of call. A minute later DD13 tried to call me but in the same situation with not enough cell coverage to have a connection that would allow us to have a conversation. Now I am alarmed with both kids trying to call me at the same time. I left DH with the cart and told him to stay still....then I took off running for the front of the store so I could get outside. Once outside of the metal building I could get cell reception so I hurriedly called DS16 and DD13 expecting to hear an emergency. Nope. They just wanted to talk to me. ARGH. Gotta love em.
It is 3pm and I have only had a couple hundred calories today. STRANGE. I am not feeling sick, but I am just not hungry.
DS16 isn't complaining about his foot hurting. Although his foot could probably fall off and he wouldn't want to stop. He is constantly busy doing something or another. DS16 took his girlfriend to a street dance last night. This afternoon DS16 is helping a friend with her vehicle.

So good to have blessed back where she belongs!
It has been a long day — church, church picnic with “sister church,” baby shower, call from dmom, found out dgs spending the night. Dgd has 8:00 doctor appointment.
I am so tired.

That's so nice you got to celebrate with family, Nancy.
Dstepson only has the next 3 days here and then starts a temporary assignment in another state where a plant is suddenly doing without a supervisor. He may get to come home for the weekend, we're not sure, but definitely all next week away. That's a disappointment. We miss him when he's gone.
Getting a grocery list together. Know I'm forgetting something.
((Cathy)), that's a long time to have to wait.
Somehow I missed that Ramblin' has a migraine. Hope that's over soon. Can't believe 12 years since you retired, Ramblin'. Doesn't seem that long ago.
Oh, just saw
LOL, bittersweet! I recently heard that one way to make a room look less cluttered is to have open space in bookshelves rather than packed like library shelves. Or have completely different items on parts of the shelves.
