Just talked with the caretaker. It was a bear on our, and all the other docks.

Nap time needs to be over now. Time to walk to the road and back, just five minutes of movement to get my body moving.

After lunch CI ~
Mopped this morning.
I have done dishes twice today now.
Went down stairs to fetch some thing out of the deep freezer and do the walk around.
Took time to watch a bit of a movie.

Got the one flight of steps done that is my minimum.
Raked a bit more on the back beds project.
More clean up put the soup in a covered dish I remembered getting this summer & had
not used yet! Did some wide noodles this time. Next time I"ll do med. size ones like 1/2"
I have some veg. broth to go with beef. No need to go to the store today. Win win!

OH....how I treasure coming to the SHE village and reading your posts. My life feels normal when i get to hang around here.

What a day of surprises and challenges it has been! Thankfully nothing horribly bad happened.
** I slept in 3 hours later than normal. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT? I am thankful DH woke me up to ask if I intended to sleep that late. I wiped the sleep from my eyes and bolted from the bed. EEeeek!
** We had contractors coming at 8:30am so sleeping in was definitely not part of my plan. I had 30 minutes to get the kitchen and bathroom things done before they shut the water off to the house. I was zooming through those water tasks as fast as possible.
** Three contractors showed up and got started in the bathroom. We considered them lifelong friends - DH gave each one of the 3 contractors a hug when they arrived.
** DBIL stopped by for a visit. Normally I welcome guest, but this morning had too much going on. I didn't really have time for a casual visit but whatever. Thankfully after about 15 minutes DBIL got a phone call and had to leave.
** Once the contractors got started I checked to make sure they didn't need anything from me. I told them I had a medical appointment to go to but that DH can call me for any decision needed. They all know DH and small-town news had informed them that he is mentally struggling.
** I left DH, DD13 and the contractors here and went to the city for medical appointment. During the 40 minute drive I got a phone call telling me that our brand-new bathtub is cracked. NO WAY. The bathtub was still in the shipping container and looked okay when we took the top of the container off. However, when they lifted the bathtub out of the container, they saw the bottom of the bathtub was cracked.
** The walls and floor of our bathroom have already been torn out….what to do? We made some phone calls to try and find another bathtub locally without any success. The contractors left and went to another job.
** My medical appt was to get fasting blood work done. I took my coffee with me so I could enjoy it after my appointment. Once I was at the doctor's office, I discovered our family doctor had also placed orders for me to get 4 more tests done this morning. I halfheartedly complained that I shouldn't be taking a brain test WITHOUT COFFEE. The nurses laughed and agreed with me that the timing could be better. ANYway, I ended up doing 5 tests.
1 - fasting blood work.
2 - urine test
3 - Max Pulse to test arterial stiffness. It was a non invasive test and I got a good score.
4 - Brain clarity test. This was a 5 part test. I was nervous about doing this test without my normal caffeine, no food and the stress of having contractors in the house and just discovering our new bathtub is broke. However, even though I felt it was bad timing for this test I did okay. They said a score of 80 was normal and I scored 89
5 - Salivary test to detect if I have genetic probability of having Alzheimer, Parkinson, and Huntington disease. I am vitally interested in the results of this genetic test because my Mom and her dad both had Parkinson. If it is genetic then I suspect the chances are high for me to have Parkinson too. I want to know.
** What I thought was going to be a 10 minute appointment turned out to be 1.5 hours. I was so very happy that I took the time this morning to fill that travel mug with coffee. I was sooooo ready for it when I finally got out of that appointment.
** Sam's for gas. I rarely get that low on gas but life has been happening.
** A buggy load of stuff inside Sam's for items I couldn't order online or curbside.
** Two curbside orders. They brought one order out to the vehicle, and I had to tell them I also had another order, so they went back and got it. These are not small orders but were each several hundred dollars.
** Ordered and picked up local gas station pizza so we could eat as soon as I got home. It was 2:30 and I was hungry
** As soon as I pulled into our driveway another vehicle pulled in behind me. DSIL and Daunt dropped by to visit. ARGH. Normally I welcome guests but the timing on this visit wasn't the best. I had $$$ of frozen and fresh food in the vehicle to unload and I didn't want to leave it sitting in the 98F heat. ANYway, I won't be receiving the Hostess with the Mostest award because I didn't invite them in our home. We stood in the driveway (with my hands full of frozen food) and visited for about 10 minutes then they left.
** SUV was unloaded and cold items put into freezer and refrigerators. I'll do the rest after I eat and take a break.

the other day I slept until 10 - also an Eeek! no one woke me up until the tree trimmers came! Lots of rubbing my eyes and tried to make sense of the world I woke up to

today: I feel like I worked hard but it doesn't show it.
I and mom finished shredding the too big zucchini for zucchini bread this winter (I don't want to see any more zucchini for a year )
make a nice coffee cake with the blueberries we had from the farmers market a couple of weeks ago.
made the zucchini from our garden, mushrooms, red pepper, onion, basil, oregano, tomato paste, red wine, garlic from our garden, tomatoes dish - I use this on pasta instead of meat.

dishes are washing themselves
pasta timer is yelling at me to drain it.

Afternoon CI
I raked the garden area again with the garden rake not the 4 tined one this time.
Was going to mow but did not need to do I watered a bit more in back again.
I need to do that in the front.
More dishes are put away I had some squash & cheese for a snack.

I want to make ch. zucchini bread. Done it's good yea!
I also want to make up some beef soup I have veg. broth for it ... not today.
but have not gotten around to that I took have a large zucchini on my counter that needs attn. Done.

Blessed - Your food prep sounds wonderful.

My energy level was restored after eating and relaxing a bit. I decided to make some progress on the 4-room switch project. DH and I teamed up to move 4 tables, 2 shelves, a cot and the sewing desk. I think there is just one more table to declutter, deep clean and move. I am having to do this project in small steps so that last table will be for another day.

LucyLee - how is your rash doing? Did they schedule another appointment for a doctor to look at it?

I can't find the receipt for the cracked bathtub so we can return it.
I will not panic. I will not panic.

Something's up with me and I ached all over so didn't get anything done today except to sit out on the deck and closed my eyes for a bit.

I still have to clean up the bear skat but that will wait until tomorrow. I read a hint online to cover the shovel head with a garbage bag so there's one less thing to deal with after moving the mess off the dock. I'll still have to wash down the dock a bit (and the water level is too low to dip a bucket, I'll either have to get into the water to fill the bucket or haul it from the next cottage and then down the steps to the dock. I guess I'll go in the water tomorrow.

We had the frozen leftover casserole for dinner so it was an easy supper to thaw and heat up, no real cooking involved. We both ate it and didn't feel negative effects from putting food in our stomachs so that's good.

Ds just called and talked while driving home. He's had 3 hours sleep since he woke up yesterday morning, which is more than ddil has had. There's a rough plan for tomorrow and we are not to come home yet. Dgs had a good time with his aunt and cousins today after daycare so that was positive.

I guess I'll get ready for bed now and think about going to sleep. I still have no ability to concentrate on anything but the achiness I felt between 3 - 6 p.m. has gone away.

I'm so late getting here today -- there was no congo-ing around here; that's for sure.
DDIL had a miscommunication; I was happy for her to leave the kids till time for them to go to school at 10:00, but she thought I wanted her to pick them up when she left work at 7:00. So she was here bright and early, and I went back to sleep. I slept literally most of the day away, and even when I got up, I did not shower, but just put on clothes, went to post office, and continued to do nothing till dgd arrived at 4:00 pm.

She was hungry, so went on and got an early supper, filled up the car with gas, and stopped by the post office again to mail the phone bill.

So now we're both in bed * before 10:30 * but that doesn't mean I'll go to sleep early. The roof is still leaking, of course, and I had to reset the satellite TV box, (suddenly there was no sound!) and I'm planning to read for awhile to calm myself.

LadyM, the rash is unchanged, except some days it looks a bit "angrier" than others. Sometimes there are little raised bumps (sores?) in it, but mostly it is just red and slightly itchy. About the length of my thumb, right where the band of my bra hits. I'm still keeping a pantiliner there to cushion the bra band, and I've been using Aquafor ointment on it, and occasionally cortisone cream when it's itching.
I will see the new gynecologist on the 25th of this month, and I think I have a mammogram already scheduled for the next week. So surely I will find out soon what is going on with this. DDIL suspects a yeast infection, so I hope she is right and that's all it is.

BTW -- is there any chance the receipt is saved in the business computer system? Lots of places do that now. (((HUGS))) for all the upheaval in your home, plus the unplanned medical tests, and all the other stuff you're dealing with. My goodness -- if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't sleep three hours late, I'd probably try to sleep for THIRTY hours!

(((Kathryn)) you also have an awfully packed schedule... (((HUGS))) for you -- and cheers for your bravery. I don't think I"d be able to sit on a dock and close my eyes, knowing a bear had been visiting! WOW.
I would love to see a bear in the wild, and it's not unheard of around here in this part of our state, but it is VERY, VERY rare. And if I did see one in walking distance of my house, I'd probably never go out without some kind of bear spray (is that what people carry?)
I have also never seen a wild hog, except in a zoo-type place, and dh teased me about wanting to see one. They are not very rare around here at all, but fortunately, I guess, there are none in my neighborhood.

Nancy, you are always so productive... well, ALL OF YOU ladies are. I've had some good days, but the list of "THIS WEEK" to-dos is really overwhelming, and I keep writing the same things in my planner every Sunday night.
Today, I did cross one thing off -- sent a card to dh's cousin's wife, who is in her 80s and has COPD. She has not been in church in quite a while now. I've tried to call her a few times and she's not answered. Dmom suggested I send her a card, and I finally did that. I am going to try to do better about sending cards to people who are sick or homebound, who mean a lot to me. That's a lot less intrusive than a phone call, I think.

Blessed, if I had gotten out of bed at 10:00 a.m., it would have been a BIG HOORAY for me. I'm embarrassed to tell y'all how late I slept.
