Happy to say, I am managing Monday.

I think those of you who read about my tear-filled weekend will be relieved to know I have --
[x] gone to the bank for large bills for ds' bday card (and cash for misc)
[x] signed ds's card
[x] gone to the drug store for flu shot and refills
[x] called the courthouse (tax office) to make sure I still have homeowner's exemption
--
we had some sort of discount after dh turned 70, 65 -- so I will qualify again in a couple years. She said it didn't amount to much, probably $50 depending on our total taxes. It is the state portion of property taxes. I will have to go to the courthouse and take death certificate to clear this from next year's taxes.
[x] started a load of laundry
[x] washed the items in the sink
[x] talked to dmom, who will not be coming to party because she has been diagnosed with pneumonia
[x] set up dining room for party
AND -- the best thing --
[x] had lunch with dfriend at local sandwich shop
AND... EDITING AT 9:27 PM --
[x] put away 1/2 the laundry -- dgrands' clothes and my socks are still in the dryer
[x] hosted ds' birthday party, no tears * dang * forgot to ask ds to check the attic pans for water
[x] put away all the stuff from the party
I did not get to do the
* Oil change because the man was not in. I use a privately-owned shop, not the 10 minute express chain here (which has had lots of complaints).
I'll try oil change tomorrow.
And I did not
* Vacuum and dust main area of the house because... I'm just not in the mood. If all goes as usual, no one will set foot anywhere but the kitchen and dining room.
I find living alone makes me less concerned about the WHB. I know y'all are thinking, "LESS concerned??? Lucy has never seemed concerned anyway!"

But it's just like my dmom says, no one sees it but me, and it just doesn't seem to matter so much. I mean, things are 99% of the time very neat, and fairly well organized, and I just tend to think it doesn't matter. I should keep at it though, to try to set a better example for ds/ddil.
I should also be concentrating on decluttering a lot of stuff that I probably would be embarrassed if ds/ddil saw it after MY death. Journals, poetry, even scrapbooks. Would y'all believe I have a used up tube of toothpaste in a scrapbook, which belonged to a friend's older brother. I had a crush on him. And I carried around a chili dog wrapper for two years, which came off a chili dog that Other Guy had eaten. It was wrapped multiple times in tape, so it wouldn't leak or anything. I threw it away (actually burned it) in a purging moment that was supposed to put him out of my mind.
Gosh -- if anyone reads this, they will certainly know who I am. How many people actually save such things???
Anyway -- I'm a keeper of sentimental items. And one part of me says, "go ahead, keep them, ds will love to see this -- I would love to see things that mattered to my mom and grandmothers before I was a part of their lives." OTOH, one part of me says, "girl, don't let ds know how crazy you are!"
One thing I don't have is an athlete's jock strap hanging on my wall. One of dh's cousins married a girl who had a jock strap hanging on the wall. It was a college athlete who became a professional, and if I could think of his name, you would all recognize it -- but I can't remember who it was.
Anyway --
Hope you have a great day with your friends,
LadyM. Happy birthday, again! And I hope you
all have a great day.
