Gee, Twins', "are we having fun yet?" (my dstepson's favorite saying when he/we are NOT)

So, blessed is sewing applique pieces, Cathy is cross-stitching, Twin's Mom is making sure some stamping supplies get to go into appreciative hands. Just checking. I'll take that over to Art, Craft, and Needlework thread and speak completely out of turn about them. I'll probably get it all wrong over there unless they correct me.

Cleaned the bathtub. I have definite rust issues in tiny dots, I think - forgivable for a history that dates to 1958. But the main problem is some rust-colored residue with mineral "scale", perhaps, around the sides near the faucet, insisting that it will not be dislodged. Previous elbow-grease superhuman efforts on part of that brought up the sparkling "new bathtub" look again, but my superpowers grow thin. What I can clean looks so sparking against what I can't. And I must think of our septic, so just anything too chemically strong down the drain would be a no-no. Any thoughts? :?:

d twins I have a question and thought you may give me some ideas for getting a translation.
My great uncle, was Alsatian and when captured by the germans - he died of dysentery in a camp. The Alsatian people were forced to speak and write in German - my mother had that in school - the French and Alsatian teachers were removed -

I found in my mother's sink, yesterday, a torn up letter from my great uncle Jean had written in 1940 - it was written in German to my great aunt that lived in Chicago. I want to put the letter back together and get it translated however there seems to be talk of people being m*rdered every day and other things that were happening around him. -and that's probably why my mother tore it up.

( if the Alsatian people were found to write in French then they would be in trouble - same with my mom in school (when mom had to raise her hand to Hitler - her mother said she could think to herself: (of course in her native language) "the manure pile is this high". my grandmother was a strong woman. )

whom do you think I can go to for help on translating the writing which is clear but hard for me to translate bc I don't really know what the words should be. I don't know German.

I was wondering if you had any advice for me on how to get help

Hello, again!

I have no good resources to offer re tub-scrubbing or translation.

Twins, is tomorrow's prep eating a clear (or liquid, I can't remember which) diet? If so, it makes the next day's prep much easier. I had to laugh at your DH's suggestion of eating out and the reason why -- my DH is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. He will have plenty of room for Thanksgiving dinner!

Load 1 is in the dryer; load 2 is in the washer and done, waiting for the dryer. I'd like to get a third load at least washed and dried; it may end up sitting in the dryer, though. We only have 2 usable laundry baskets. Although I could put load #3 in a laundry bag to bring up. And there goes the dryer! (Or doesn't go -- it doesn't have a buzzer, but I can hear it's not tumbling.)
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Gee, blessed has so much more interesting questions than me. Read that several times, wow. A good manure quote, too.

Mystery, I'll switch dryer buzzers with you. Mine is alarmingly loud and long and there is nothing to be done about it. We've searched online for hacks or anything, but everyone says you're just stuck with it. When we were moving here, there were so many fast decisions I didn't have time to do my research on these. What's worse is that the door of the dryer opens the inconvenient direction and it's not one of those that can be changed.

I have a headache (a bit of one)

mom - I was there this morning to give her breakfast and meds and I ordered food for lunch as well). She was saying she should cook for herself and that she is more than capable. I wish she would eat the things I have had in the fridge. I did feel bad that she noticed that she is no longer cooking for herself. She thinks of her father and his Alzheimer's when I give her the meds and food she needs or help her with her laundry. If she is with me then I can give her things like ironing her cloths etc. She does great then.

I ordered dh's Christmas presents and one for dd older.
I received the st. Nicholas day ornament and ordered st. Nicholas day cookies from Folklorica https://www.facebook.com/folkloricabakery/ (I got mom some as well).

finished paperwork and bills. Everything took all morning.

waving to everyone.

my d brother ordered a present for himself that mom will "give" him. He is also looking for something for my sis in law/his wife.

Blessed look up Google "translate from German to English". If you can't figure it out, ask someone younger. Most people under 40 can do just about anything on a computer.

Possible ways....
Here is a letter that was posted to reddit and translated. You might contact the person who translated it directly and see if they would do your letter. AI can translate by uploading a picture of the letter.
OR
Go to Google Translate in your browser, select Documents, choose the languages to translate, and then upload the file you want to translate.

I turned our A/c back on. It is 85 in the house and the temperature is going up every hour. We have several warmer days this week so doing without a/c isn't a choice I am making.

I have started the process of painting the metal art that is in the garden. There is too much of it to paint everything ever year, but I can do the worst ones. I prefer to have it already painted before putting in winter storage. That way it will be ready to be returned to the garden next spring.

DD13 is >>>>insert your negative emotion of choice<<<<< with me. I am requiring her to choose 5 activities to do today that require her to be up and moving. She prefers to sit or lay down ALL THE TIME. I don't put a time limit on the activities. She could choose to bounce a ball once, dance across the room one time, walk to the end of the driveway, belt out a karaoke song, paint her door, climb a fence, rollerskating, swing, etc etc etc. There are ENDless possibilities. Right now she is choosing to pout while sitting on the floor in the middle of her bedroom. I love teenagers and the many phases they go through. It makes me smile becuase I would be concerned if they didn't go through these teenage years of working their way toward being independent.

I just realized I haven't cooked anything today. I used ready to use food available to feed everyone. Keeping a wide variety of food ready-to-eat only works if I keep adding to it. Hum....what do I want to cook?
Rice
Meatballs
and ?....I'll think of something while cooking those items.

hello thank you for the ideas - reddit might be better - dd younger tried with google translate but as we don't really know hand written German it is making it difficult - it doesn't look like high German - I still have to piece the rest of the letter together - dd put the pieces in her photoshop thing and is trying to figure it out like a puzzle.

I got part of it.

mom is still at her house - I do miss her but it's nice to work as I can.

I found I had more fabric for my appliqué thing. I was able to cut it out correctly this time. I used Fray check as the instructions suggested. Now time to let it dry then stitch the back to the front with a blanket stitch.

more laundry washing - yesterday paper towel got in the sink and the whole thing overflowed - at least the floor is clean now

LadyM we are having rigatoni with home made meat sauce for supper. We had samosas for lunch. I had a toasted salami sandwich for breakfast. I was originally just going to have toast but then I saw we had 2 slices of salami left.

While I am waiting for the pasta to cook, I cleaned the entire tub/shower area, including part of the wall and part of the ceiling. I also tried to make the taps shinier, so I sprayed on some vinegar and sprinkled on some baking soda. It helped and it looks better than before.
