today dh had an unexpected biopsy done in his throat at his ent appointment - last appointment was 3 months ago but today the dr. saw granular tissue - it was overwhelming for him bc it was lots of bleeding and of course worried about what it could be. He said it is a boulder that is always on his shoulder. The fact that it just showed up recently might be a good thing (but dr. was worried per dh - I am not sure what the dr stated.).

I looked it up. I am not a dr. (or play one) but I wonder his struggle with his trac the last 3 weeks has caused a lesion from rubbing in his throat. Granules are usually benign. praying for dh.

mom has been great which is good.

((blessed and family)) - grateful dr handled it quickly and will know info quickly. Grateful you can look it up and see that it is usually benign. I hope the area heals up without further trouble.

I have very little going on. I paid a paper bill and have that in my purse for the next time we can get out. Dstepson had brought our mail and took a bag of trash for us, so the workings of the house are continuing.

There is some dusting/swiffering I've been considering and don't think will be so much that it has to wait. That would be one thing I could do today.

I have given both teens 3 tasks to complete by EOD. These tasks should take less than an hour if they apply themselves.

DD13 -
1 - make red lobster style biscuits
2 - clean the bottom of her closet. We discussed that shoes are the only thing that should be on her closet floor.
3 - Clear her desktop.
I have given her a large clear plastic storage tub to store anything that she wants to keep but doesn't have a place.

DS16 -
1 - Clear the dining room table in his room.
2 - Clear the couch in his room
3 - assemble a 6 shelf storage.
DS16 has two people here today so he has the option to enlist them to help him.

I have a dining table to clear off no option of help and have not touched it today.
I might need to do a timer round.
Saw a timer at the store yesterday $22 that was a surprise!
I left it there.

Raining here again.
Got the table mostly cleared off now yea.
Matched the lids with the plastic containers and put em away too yea.

Walked to both corners and a bit more.
20 min. on gazelle.
Finally got my steps in.

Going to try to keep this short -- I've been a slug today and should get a move on.

Glad you're feeling reasonably well, Harriet. Good idea to be gentle with yourself and not overdo. Things are feeling better in the gut department, thank heavens, and the laxatives you recommend are also those recommended by the surgeon for any post-surgery stoppage. Unfortunately, I remembered the name wrong when I sent DD into the drugstore for me, so we now have a large package of the wrong thing that needs to be returned.

lucylee, I'm sorry to hear about your hospital. Here, the two big hospital systems have bought up all the small hospitals around and closed some of them. They've even bought county hospitals, though not in this county -- I don't know if it's because the hospital's too big, or has too many indigent patients, or both. For "nonprofit" hospitals, they sure do watch the bottom line. The hardship closing hospitals puts on people in more rural areas is just a shame.

This evening, I had my "poor girl's supper" of brown rice, cooked collards and Great Northern beans. Minimal standing over the stove, but I got to have what makes me feel like "me". Is it delicious? Well, not just wonderful, no. But it is comfort food in another way, in that I know it is good for me.

Mystery, I have had to remind myself of these things - or be reminded if asking dr - because it's yet another side effect.

Back on potassium script. Sigh. Yet another .. .. you guessed it. The pills are big.

We watched a Poirot mystery together tonight. He made little ice cream cones for us.

I did get that dusting and swiffering done, so that is off my mind. In the midst of it, found that some baskets had stash-and-dash in them so HRH and I cleared that.

One item was a 1944 page from area newspaper. A Howard Hughes movie was playing, and one at another theater starring Gene Kelly. Women's club new officers got a big photo, but only "Mrs." before each husband's names as caption. I can't get that concept. Photo of ladylike, serious, well-dressed women with men's names to identify them. Maybe... .. "you're nobody 'til somebody marries you?" lol Genealogy mix-ups would come from that, I would think.

I've noticed that "Mrs. So and So" in the "Looking Back" section of our local newspaper, where they will reprint articles from 50, 25, and 10 years ago. Fifty years ago, women apparently did not have first names.
DS and I were talking about obituaries again the other day, how they can lead to problems for genealogists. DS and I are still flabbergasted at very dear friends, some of those people who always seem to do everything right, and then when the parents passed away, they listed other dfriends as grandchildren. A young lady ds' age, whose own aunt is a daughter-in-law of the deceased, but who is no actual relation at all herself. How confusing is that going to be when someone looks up that obituary in the future? I don't know what makes people do that. No explanation at all.
When my dad's aunt passed away recently, her obituary said plainly, "Jane had no children of her own, but considered her niece and nephew as her children and their children as her grandchildren, John Doe and Sue Smith, and children..." And these people are MUCH less sophisticated than the ones who claimed grandchildren who were no relation.

Well, today was a LONG day. Hospital at 2:30, and I had to do blood work and an EKG. I had totally forgotten about doing that when dh was prepping for his kidney surgery which never happened. I realized when looking at my calendar, it was EXACTLY one year ago today when dh was there doing the same thing I did today. And it will be exactly a year from the day he went for surgery, when I have my biopsy. I told the doctor about that, and told her to be very careful about herself next week, because like dh, if she doesn't show up next Wednesday, she may not get me to return, either.
Whew... she described in great detail how my procedure will go, and all they will do, and I don't see how ANYONE could stand this without being put to sleep. Oh my goodness. Thank the Lord for my "fancy uterus." She described it to the young medical student as a "very unusual uterus." She was not surprised that DS was breech and forward facing.
The medical student asked, "So your just going to go ahead and do a hysterectomy?" and she said, "No, we're doing a hysterOSCOPY."
I told her I really hope to avoid a hysterectomy, and asked her what she expects the outcome of all this to be -- realizing of course that there is no way at all for her to know -- and she said bleeding IS the first sign of endometrial cancer, BUT since it seemed my bleeding was totally induced by medicine (the increased progesterone) that she really did not expect to find anything abnormal. She also said that because of my unusual anatomy, the uterine lining may not be as thick as it appears -- that everything is kinda compressed in there and that may have made it appear like it did in the ultrasound.

Anyway... I am truly praising God for anesthesia. I don't think I could do this if I had to be awake for it, after talking to her and reading up on it just now. She sent in a Rx for prescription-strength Tylenol AND Norco today, for me to take afterwards, the Norco if needed. So it's not going to be a walk in the park afterwards, but she said I would be fine, no need to have anyone stay at home with me or anything like that, just cramping and bleeding for a few days.
She said from the time I check in till I'm out of recovery might be 4 hours, but the actual procedure usually took only about 30 minutes. And that DS could leave and come back, she will call him when I go to recovery, to give him about an hour heads up.

Anyway - I was at the hospital for an hour, and at her office longer than that. I left her office and went directly to Ch*ck F*l A, and it was 5:30 when I left with my supper. OH -- and they handed me my frosted lemonade at the drive-thru... and... I dropped it. SIGH. They are so nice at CFA... she did not make me pay for another one. It was totally my fault, I think. I told DS, dh would have been so embarrassed that he would never return to that CFA if he had been with me. He had already sworn off the other one in that town, after the lady BACKED into us in the drive-thru.

Tomorrow, dmom and I are supposed to go to a funeral for her first cousin's husband. Dmom is very "iffy" about this, because the temperature is not going to be above freezing -- by the time this is over, we may have experienced about 60 hours below freezing -- but I plan to go whether she goes with me or not. It's about 30 minutes away, and I know some of my cousins will be going, so if I have car trouble and break down on the road (dmom's fear) there will be people on the highway that I can call. And of course, DS can be there within 30 minutes if I call him.
This is dmom's only remaining girl cousin, and the husband has had dementia for years. He is only a year or so older than dmom, and I guess her cousin is a couple years older than dmom, so they were pretty close growing up. They actually worked together for years at the bank in town.

Anyway -- I haven't had time to write down anything today. Except the Sudoku puzzle. I paid a bill this morning, tried to return a paper with my signature to the agricultural office (but they were closed), and I stopped at the grocery store on the way home.
Tomorrow the funeral and then the Flash Fiber people should be here later in the afternoon.
I think I'm going to s2washed hair tonight. I do not want to go out in below freezing weather with wet hair tomorrow.
