Woke stunned to hear the radio talking about the Pope in the past tense. He was just out in public doing things yesterday. I really thought he was the right person to guide things with the state of the world as it is; I can only hope his successor will be even more suitable.

We had a lovely Zoom call yesterday with DH's family. Just about everybody was able to make it. Eldest BIL and his wife were on via phone while their younger son was doing the driving; their elder son was away at school. Middle BIL and wife had 4 of their 5 kids with them; the second eldest had been been over their house earlier, but they're in London, so it was considerably later for them than for the rest of us. SIL was actually there -- she has a habit of falling off the face of the earth. She got to show off the kitten she just got from the shelter. And youngest BIL and wife had all three of their kids on the call, though the middle one was Zooming in from her dorm room. DD and DC were both on at some point, but DC took a while coming downstairs, and DD dipped out a little early to work on a project.

Today has been groceries. I spent the morning finishing the list, and DH and DD (both off work today; DD has the entire week off) went out and did the shopping, then everybody put away groceries. DH has a Scout service project in less than an hour, so I will cook dinner when it is close to the time he will be getting home.

Glad your neighbors took care of the branches, Nancy! Let us know how the pizza turns out.

Sounds like a quiet day, Cathy.

Glad you had a nice day with friends, Twins!

Sounds like all will be well fed, Lauralind! My DD also works with kids -- school aftercare, where she mostly works with the preschoolers. She often wears a mask to try to protect herself from the little germ factories! ;)

blessed, I'm glad you found a good place for your mom. (This is just rehab, right?) You're right; the people doing the care are more important than the building, so long as the building isn't actually hazardous, of course.

Glad your mouth is feeling better, LadyM! Clearly, unlike me, you don't wait to do shopping until the cupboards are bare, since you could easily send pictures of what you wanted.

DH's service project has been cancelled; apparently the first shift of helpers finished everything. So he is cooking dinner after all -- kielbasa, sauerkraut, and potatoes.

Have a good evening, everybody!
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

I discovered something that makes me get up and do things even more than watching hoarder shows on tv. Watching FBook reels with people cleaning houses. I went in and cleaned the entire bathroom counter in less than 5 minutes, including wiping out the sink and polishing the taps. My dh is one of those people that has all his meds out on the counter, along with a trimmer that stays plugged in and mouthwash beside the liquid soap dispenser and a room spray. I've also been washing pots/pans today as well.

We had bacon, fried onions and perogies for supper.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

My escort ( :) ) today was ds. He took the morning off work. Because public local school was out and each of his children had a plan - one sleepovering and the other having mother/daughter day - it worked out better for his household than ddolder's. Also, as ddolder pointed out, he was a confident one to have with me for getting out of car at home and into house.

I was not loopy, but was impressively relaxed, shall we say. Pain was as I was told to expect. My souvenir is a stress ball I was to squeeze with the various pain moments. They had me talk the whole time and I got an A+ for holding a conversation. That I can do.

Ds picked up my script on the way home so that is off our minds.

One more day down.

I do not know whether HRH can take me tomorrow. If he cannot, ddolder will. We need to make that decision soon, because her boys need to know.

I napped profoundly at home. Dstepson went to grocery for us with HRH's texting input but very few on-the-money purchases. It's alright. Slight differences in what we wanted are still good food. He made his Dad very happy with a watermelon so good you would have thought it was July.

I heard his voice and awakened in time to snack with them.

Power went out and dstepson dealt with linemen near our house, allowing HRH to relax about that. It was back on relatively quickly, so I got the pre-check-in forms filled out online for tomorrow, which will help then.

Mystery, ds told me when he picked me up at 6:45 that Pope Francis had died and it was on every tv we encountered. A recurring topic was his inclusivity and also women in leadership. Of course, still not catching up to where we already were 2,000 years ago on that, but getting better. We saw the video of his foot-washing of the juvenile offenders at his first Easter as Pope, so memorable.

blessed, it sounds like they are simply ignorant/uninformed, not willfully neglecting the conversation you need. So glad you are finding good things about the place where your dmother is.

Oh Monday, so full of promise that evaporates once all those petty day to day OMMs sneak back in!
Well, as my duncle would say, You said a mouthful there, Twins.

My goodness, this has been one of those "best laid plans of mice and men often go astray" days.
Alarm was set for 8:00 a.m. Life alert woke me up at 7:30 -- dmom had fallen and asked them to call and ambulance!
Oh. My. Goodness. Decisions -- time to take a shower or not? Decided not. Brushed teeth, hurried out to dmom's.
No harm done -- ambulance people were there and one firefighter, thankfully in an ordinary pickup truck, NOT the big red rig that alerts everyone in the neighborhood. Well, she was up and walking again, EMTs said no damage appeared to be done, and dmom had mentioned that she had an appointment she needed to get to. Eye doctor. 10:00 a.m.
So -- we sat there, she ate some fruit for breakfast, got dressed, and we went to the eye doctor. Me, unshowered, no make-up, ugh.
THEN we ate inside at the chicken salad place, and one of my former teachers came in. I really like this lady; she was a friend to dh also and her husband passed away a few years ago. She sent me a card when dh died and we have run into each other a couple of times -- she always tells me to call her when I am over there (she lives in Next Town). But still -- I told her about our morning and that dmom and I were both in that state of "hope we don't see anyone we know" -- so maybe if it was obvious that I was unwashed, maybe it was understandable. LOL.

So after dropping off meds at drug shop for dom, and stopping at the post office, I came home, took a nap, which was interrupted by ds... and by teacher group president... and finally I got up and started laundry. (Well, I had actually already put towels in the washer, but forgot to start the washer). Dgrands' ballgames were rained out.
Then -- ta-da --
I called doctor for dmom to request refill on one of her meds.
I did the teacher group email for meeting Thursday.
Checked messages re: funeral at church which is not going to be at our church but at funeral home on Wednesday.
Texted Dcousin to confirm divorce court tomorrow, which has been postponed while lawyers try to reach settlement. She will let me know when it is rescheduled.
Texted with ddil who wants me to pick up dgrands from school Friday.
Ate supper.
Finished laundry -- 3 loads hanging to dry, towels and underwear put away.
Talked to speech therapist who could not get in touch with dmom, called dmom to tell her to call speech therapist.
Typed list of dgrands' teachers to put with their "Oh the Places You Will Go" and I plan to take those by the school tomorrow.
Also went outside and probably did a dumb thing. Dirt and grass have been kinda "encroaching" on my driveway, right beside the carport. For some reason, I took a hoe and scrapped that area clean after the rain this evening. Now I have to do something with that dirt, because I can't leave it piled up in the grass where the yard man has to mow. I'm thinking when it is dry, it will be easier to move, not so heavy. It's a pretty big pile of dirt though.
I also watched a lot of the coverage about the Pope.

Also tomorrow, I need to get the oil changed in the Tahoe, go by the drug store for myself, go the dollar store for dmom, pay the doctor's office for dmom (she got a bill in the mail today), and call the orthopedic doctor's office to confirm appointments because I felt confused after looking at dmom's calendar today.

Sigh. It's been a day.
BUT NOTHING LIKE THE DAY you've had, Harriet! And nothing like a lot of you are dealing with. Blessed, I am so glad you have caring people taking care of your dmom. That's the most important thing. I'm glad your ds was able to go with you today, Harriet, and I hope things go well tomorrow. I love the way you put things... so glad you were impressively relaxed afterwards and napped profoundly, :)

LOL about grocery shopping. DH and I went grocery shopping after our wedding rehearsal. As y'all know, dh always thought ahead. It never would have crossed my mind that we were coming home on Sunday evening and would be at work/school the next day. (College, college y'all -- I WAS out of high school when we married!!!)
OTOH, dmom loves to tell about my ddad being so surprised that his 16 year old bride "knew how to buy groceries." LOL... he probably thought it just magically appeared on the table (unless he had brought it in from the garden himself, which I'm sure he did a lot of in his life.)

LadyM -- remind me -- OBE means what?

Please excuse me for not replying to all. You are all in my thoughts and I hope you all have a great day tomorrow!
Tomorrow is another day.
