Are the boards acting up for you too, or is it just me?
I like the tuna salad croissant the deli near my office sells - it's my favourite snack! Used to make myself tuna salad sandwiches for work, but that was when I only commuted 15 minutes. I really don't feel like carrying something like that for an hour on public transportation!
kittykatt, did the weather get better today?
gma, how's your mom doing?
lucylee, there'll be another salad for you tomorrow!
helia, yikes about your mom, but probably with you being a friend with the doctors, they want to be extra thorough!
lauralind, are you working in the store today?
I hate overtime, especially the one that arises five minutes before I plan to go home! But a major issue arose and due to scheduling conflicts and Thursday being a bank holiday, we could either meet right away or on Monday, and it really couldn't wait till Monday. So, I didn't get home till after five, and I haven't even had a cup of tea, but that will have to wait till I get through the first set!

Got an error message but I'm here now.
Yes, trissie, RC has been very helpful. Ugh on the last minute overtime.
Lauralind, this hospital visit could end up being a very good thing. This is a top notch hospital. They're also working on her mouth. It is dry and her dental care is awful, and the nurse is going to try some things to help make her mouth more moist. I think she walks around very dehydrated. They also ordered a swallow study.
Yes, I'm back at the hospital. Mom is sleeping. I don't think she's eaten anything since she got here, but her heart rate and blood pressure are normal again. A cardiologist is here, looking at her heart. She was in afib last night, and they're getting her sorted out. They're also figuring out a device that was put in her heart (not a pace maker) after her heart attack 10 years ago. Cardiac issues were not on the list of diagnoses sent from the IL NH.
Next:
- work on lists in notebook
- work on midterm test
- some qt?
TaDas!
- back exercises
- gathered stuff
- back at the hospital; Mom is still in room at the back of the ER
- checked payroll daily announcements
- talked to nurse
- ordered pureed food with the nurse; we had fun together choosing food items!
- texted dbro re: Mom
- texted update to family

My theme for today is I'll Get There Eventually. Since this is found time, anything I get done is a bonus. A bonus that my apartment sorely needs, but a bonus nonetheless.
Thank you for starting us off, trissie.
Thank you, kittykatt. Sorry about the chilly weather. Your weather is usually more temperate than ours, so I expect that better weather will come soon.
That sounds good, Gma. I am a fan of tuna salad, potato salad and especially egg salad. Maybe I just like mayonnaise?
I guess that I have your dmom's taste, lucylee, LOL.
I'm sorry to hear about your dmother, helia.
That's a good point, laurlind. It might be a blessing in disguise.
WTG on getting your morning routine done.
That's as far as I got in CUOP, but I have to get out of this chair. I'll be back.
Tuesday
Called the Absent Line at work to tell them that I’m not well and won’t be in.
Put on pot of coffee
Filled breadmaker
No flour canister
Went through the bin of dry food to find the oldest flour
Dog rejected the hydrolysed protein food as reward for using pee pad
Opened the last container of Go! And set up plastic container for it.
Earned dog’s approval
Set up/filled flour canister
Worked on filling breadmaker
Dog pooped. Cleaned up after dog:
Washed part of the floor
Went toward the bathroom for supplies, found myself in the kitchen with the canisters in chaos.
Reorganized the canister corner to put away the flour.
Found a plastic container of very cool “okra chips” that I had forgotten about. They are whole okra, prepared like potato chips. Ate some.
Saw the breadmaker, waiting for yeast.
Went toward the computer to look up the amount. Saw the peepads.
Cleaned up after dog and put down fresh pee pads.
Went around turning on fans.
Came toward computer, couldn’t find coffee cup.
Went to kitchen for coffee cup/coffee, saw the breadmaker.
Came back toward the computer.
Tested the air conditioner fan: does not turn on. Not necessarily a problem; it probably just needs a reset or the plugs checked.
Sat down with cup of coffee
Updated list.
Oh, for pete’s sake! I just got a call from my supervisor claiming that I never showed up for work and never called in. No Call No Show is a serious breach in a call centre environment. It can be used as a part of terminating an employee for cause, which denies them access to unemployment programs. So I called them back and told them the exact time that I called the Absent Line. But they have found a way to make my day off stressful.
My supervisor called back and I told him that I can send him a screenshot of my call to the Absent Line, which he said would be very helpful. He also asked me to call them a second time.
Called the Absent Line.
Got a screenshot showing both calls.
Saved it to the cloud.
Picked it up on my computer.
Emailed it to myself at work.
Signed into the work computer and emailed my supervisor.

Ugh about the absent call mess, Dogged! It surely does not help with your stress level!
helia, have they discovered anything unexpected yet? I wanted to ask about "wrong", but there's of course a lot of "wrong" to be found with a NH patient with memory issues, but that's the "expected" stuff.

A late good morning to all

So much for my good intentions and an early start lol
Trissie, thx for the start, reminder on healthy salads, hope your taxes are history and you’re well rested after a long weekend. Bummer about having to stay over at work.
Kittykatt, I eye your lists with wonder, some day I’ll be as organized…or at least follow your shining lead as much as possible.
Helia, sounds like they’re taking extra care and caution as they learn your mother’s history and how to best help her.
Gma, I’ll swap your summer temps for mine.
Hi, Lucylee!
Laura, hope you stay well and dry.
Dogged, it’s good that you have proof of your call. I didn’t like okra chips the first time I tried them but have acquired a taste for them on occasion now.

helain, Having the hospital go through your mom's health thoroughly is good. And if she is in hospital long enough, she may qualify for medicare payment for some rehab care, which may help both with finances a little and help with her strength. It sounds like they are being thorough. These are things you could not keep track of when she was so far away. it is so good that you have her with you.
Doggedly, that is so frustrating. Good that you can prove their error.
Bama, we love our summers ♥ They make up for our winters
Trissie, sorry about the late and sudden overtime
laurlind, is there a home care agency that serves your agency? Some can be hired privately for a few hours a week. It can help to have their regular schedule to give your mom a 1-2x a week bath.
kittykatt, I saw your post in crafts about the doll house. Sounds like a fun addition
hi to the few I missed
Ii've given ddog 3 eye medicines 2x (each 5-10 minutes apart), antibiotic, appetite stimulant, and Prednisone. 1 more half pill to give her.
And had a bowl of rice krispies with a banana.
Next up
get dressed
go to bank, check balances and make depaosts and transfer funds
take car to get summer tires
show apartment
take Tutsi to see her mom - dtop at Dairy Queen first so Mom can try to feed her, and see how that goes. If it goes well, great! If not, Mom will see how little dog is refuisng food.
I am so sad for mother, as she loves little Tutsi so much. I ache for her. (and me too, but I am prepared - I think- but are we ever?)

Medicare coverage can be different based on how they are classifying your mom’s admission, helian. Some things aren’t covered until you have been admitted for 3 days but it has to be classified as an inpatient admission and not observation and in my experience it doesn’t change the actual care so it is hard to tell which one they are calling it without asking.

Bama, yes, taxes have been sent on Thursday morning, now I just have to pay property tax, but that at least I do not have to calculate!
gma and L.Ann, I gotta say I am really grateful for the universal healthcare system - here, if you get admited in a hospital, whatever needs doing gets done, and whatever meds you need, you get them, and when you go home, all the paperwork you get is the discharge papers for your doctor. It's not without fault (there's long waiting times for specialists, as there's not enough of them, and in some regions getting a family doctor or a dentist is a nightmare), but it sure is a relief when something major and bad happens!
