Hello, all. Happy Valentines Day.

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt.
I'm not sure why, but as of last night, the fat was still mixed in with the duck broth. The duck itself is in a separate container in the fridge, and it does have the fat separated out on the bottom of the dish so it and the skin are easily separated. That is interesting about cutting the V's into the skin. If I do this again for Germane, I will at least do that, though, as you say, I'll have to skip the salt.

trissie, would be painting the kitchen and emptying the freezers on the same day be working at cross purposes? Or are the freezers located in another room like the basement? Either way, I hope that it all goes well.
I hope that your dchildren have a good time at the observatory. I'm sure that they will have a good presentation for them, in case of clouds.

kitkat, you took me by surprise when you said that it is a long weekend. I had to look at the calendar to see, LOL.

FrenchFly, it is so interesting that you have to check the tide tables when you are driving. It's one of these things that you don't think about unless you live in the area.
I had to look up what a mimosa tree is. What a beautiful and unusual tree! I'm glad that you got to see and smell them.

We can all agree on that helia--polar vorex go home! Enjoy your warm day today.

Morning all. I think I'm going to keep my post a little shorter .

Yikes on all the rain frenchie. I hope it dries up soon and you are rewarded with some of those beautiful trees .

I slept in this morning till almost 6. Maybe cause of the nyquil? I'm really confused. I can't decide if I actually have a cold or only sinus infection or maybe as someone said yesterday at work... maybe allergies are developing? It's really weird. Or it's just sinus that is severe enough it won't break up. I bought some sinutab allergy yesterday since it worked really well borrowed from a work friend.

I'm going to take that and see what comes of my day. I haven't seen mom since last weekend. Plus my house needs severe attention. Vacuum. Details. And see what ds wants to do maybe he will bake something? Oh and I really should get going on Casper walk again. For all the ice and the dark after work etc I got way out of the habit of walking. He's done very well putting up with it. Oh and groceries.

I think I'm going to start with a soak and morning routine and finish my qt. Especially if ds sleeps in and I have a good chunk of time.

Soak in tub instead of shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Finish qt
Add some stuff to dw and turn on Finish tidying kitchen all the way

lauralind, you're such an early riser on your free days! While I do get up before 6am on work days, weekends are my sleep-in days! How's mom doing?
Dogged, it's a whole weekend plan - and as my plans go, it's likely rather unrealistic :-) We have a small-ish freezer in the kitchen (part of the built-in fridge/freezer combo), and a large drawer freezer in the garage for extras. A family of 6 will go through a lot of food, especially since I only go shopping once a week! Plus we store the garden produce there.
Frenchie, our country is basically a volcanic basin, so we have borders defined by mountains (heck, our tallest mountain, the Snezka, is half ours half Polish, with the highest point - 1603 metres - on our side) - so we have plenty of ski resorts. But you are right, the year before DS was born, we went to Kapruns, which is in Austrian Alps. It's been local mountains ever since, but we may brave the Alps next year. Have your kids done some skiing in the past?
helia, is the warmer weather likely to stick, or is it just a short reprieve?

Well ds slept till after 10. Good amount of qt.

Trissie moms doing pretty well I think. They seem to have found a good pain remedy. She's comfortable and content for the most part.

Kitchen clean. Swept everywhere. Laundry going. Took my sinutab so I feel ok atm. I think I should find something to eat . Do my music prep now I won't wake ds with the piano. Then see where I get.

Find food
Practice music for tomorrow
Make grocery list and sort fridge etc
Shopping maybe

Soak in tub instead of shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Finish qt

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fascinating Socrates information. Several things I didn't know.

FrenchFlybebe, good luck on your fun hunt. I am not sure I have ever seen a yellow mimosa. Or any mimosa bloom in early spring. I think of mimosas as the pink ones in summer. I looked up a photo and they are remarkable - like something for a Hollywood movie about space travel. Pretty pom-pom globe blooms that look substantial.

Hi Everyone,

Just finished lunch - having my coffee:)
Managed to take pup for a proper outdoor walk and she was really good after the first 5 minutes when she just needed to sniff everything:)
Prior to that I did my class and that felt good. Made another "friend".
Before I left, I got a couple of loads into the machine.
Need to continue.

Funny:
I read trissie's post : 3X10 room rescue.
My brain interpreted that as 3'X10' room rescue...

Nice to see you FFly - I need to look up that mimosa... editing to say, I just did. I've seen that one around. Will keep my eyes open in the spring/summer.
Dogged I'll need to shop for Fam. Day...
Lauralind I was hoping you were better
LAnn are you feeling OK?
Happy Valentine's Day to ALL - I did not think of it until I saw Harriet's post
helia it's been mostly cloudy - but the sun appears occasionally . However, it's much better than it was!

Next:
adv lol
large basketful to pa
marinate tofu

return to laundry/ keep it going.

Hello everyone!

I hope the DKids enjoyed their visit to the Observatory, Trissie. How is the painting going?

FFB, we have mimosa growing here too. The scent is amazing, isn't it? The kids here are non half term holiday as well, but I think for only a week.

Helia, LOL at your DH not being interested in mimostrees -maybe his interests lie with plant life one can eat?

I hope DD enjoyed her basket ball, L Ann.

Laura, I'm glad your DMum is doing well and the staff have made her comfortable.

Harriet, we have mimosa trees growing in a street in our city, where I used to walk with DDeparted DF HE. The scent is truly amazing, but IMHO, the little pompoms are best enjoyed on the tree. They lose their freshness if cut and taken indoors.

Dogged, I think scoring "V" marks on the duck would still encourage at least some of the fat to come out of it.

KitKat, that sounds like a nice day!

Today was actually sunny ☀️, with no rain for the first time this year. We had a frost again overnight, but it quickly dried up. Ibe done a little tidying in the garden and given the pots their weekly feed. And Ive cleaned the windows -they were really dirty after all the rain - and they look so much better now!

The laundry is finally up to date, Ive sorted out lunch for tomorrow , made a lemon drizzle cake, sent the email for parish lunch and printed out the menu for those who wish to sign up in church. I just need to remember to take it with me!
