GF16 did an AMAZING job with organizing & cleaning DS17 bedroom and bathroom. She doesn't have much money, but she gave her time & effort to give him a Valentine gift. While he was at work today, she spent hours on it. I still feel they’re too young to be so devoted to each other, but it’s hard to deny their happiness and the way they always put each other first. They have been together for 14 months.....and counting.
It has been a high carb & sweet treats day here. I suppose that to be expected on Valentine Day.

Inspiring stuff!
Ds (yes, ds) got a bouquet of golf balls (as the bloom centers) with some kind of stiff paper petals around each one, each at the end of a long "stem".
We had a fun lunch of Mexican food, but nothing I thought up!
Apologizing for this vent in advance. Skippable. First, let me say HRH got me a recently published sewing book for Valentines, very thoughtful. I like it.
But here's the thing. This author gushes on and on about the very machine quilter who sort of cheated me/us when I was pressed into using a distant service for dd27's wedding quilt because nearby folks couldn't do it. The author wholeheartedly (on two different pages) recommends using that service, and, obviously, that's fine (
) if the experiences she had were good. But I was not listened to, so that my results were way different from my requests, was charged an additional amount to a degree that made me feel as though my daughter's quilt was being held hostage, was sent a tracking number that matched nothing, so that I was led to believe my quilt was lost when she hadn't even shipped it, and, even though her work was long done, I barely got it back in time to race to do the finishing in time for the wedding. HRH and dd had to comfort me (and ya'll had to listen) through a lot of tears over the experience, especially when the quilt appeared lost in shipping for a week and the shipping company didn't know how to help me. 
I did not see anywhere to do a review. I had already tried so hard to communicate from the beginning, and the woman wasn't listening anyway. So, I lost my chance to let others know the pitfalls, which makes me sad reading the opposite in this published source.

That girl is a keeper, LadyM! My, how I wish one of mine (ds or ddil, doesn’t matter which) would give the other such a gift!
However, when they came home from their date, they did bring me a beautiful necklace and some spring/Easter dish towels for the kitchen. They are both very kind and good, just messy!
Harriet — could you do a book review on ARiver or somewhere? Might not exactly “fit” since your situation didn’t actually involve the book itself… but might let you get the word out.
