Looking in from Richmond Virginia. Arrived on Tuesday afternoon, have had two days at Library of VA so far. I'll have tomorrow, and perhaps Saturday morning if I want. I am exhausted tonight - the fire alarms in the hotel were going off at 5:15 or so this a.m. I got up, very bleary-eyed and got myself downstairs - I'm only on the third floor of a small, historic hotel. Forgot ID and phone but got rings/watch. Nearly forgot glasses - that would have been a disaster! There was apparently a small fire in the dryer on the second floor - I did smell some smoke when I left my room which accelerated my move down the steps. Once the building was cleared I tried to go back to sleep. I might have dozed. This will be an early evening - I called dh earlier to let him know that I'd be going to sleep early and not to call - at 5 p.m. leaving the library I was yawning big time.

This has not been the most productive trip at LVA. I'm not far enough along in my Harper research to have a hit list - I'm all over the state of Virginia and not particularly focused because there are too many suspects. And this may be something I never get figured out. But OTOH, I have uninterrupted time away from home for uninterrupted research, even if I could do a lot of it at home. Had a "consult" this a.m. regarding my IL research and got some ideas. Good to talk to other experienced genealogists and hobnob a bit on problems.

Tomorrow is library, not sure about Saturday but I know I'm checking out of hotel. Haven't decided whether to do sightseeing before heading home, or on the way home. I really really wish I had more time in DC but it's so expensive. So much to see - I've been to most of the sights but I'd love to go to Mount Vernon or Arlington Cemetery again.

Nice to see you checking in Twins' Mom!

I've been stitching on the black Aida and trying to see where the holes are isn't a lot of fun. I can move some floor lamps into the kitchen but not tonight.

Yes, good to know Twins' is well and learning. Consulting sounds interesting. Wow, what a bad experience with fire alarms, though.

lucylee, are you feeling any better? Did you and dr finally decide it was just allergies after all, or combination? Here, the pollen is so thick.

8-) I can see my surroundings so much more normally now. I had finally just gone to nap and given up on the fuzzy world for a while. Awakened very relieved.

Oh, sorry to hear that LadyM's ds is wearing uncomfortable footwear. Hope that is quick to handle.

Nancy, your "D"s were such a good reminder of simple helps.

Mystery, when there are so many things to keep up with, it's easy to get discombobulated! I hate to lose one item I'm so sure was JUST THERE.

blessed, I didn't realize you separated your yard into parts for attention. That's good planning.

HRH's dcousin came by and brought a small gift for him, plus brought her ddad, his uncle93 (? I think), who didn't try to come inside, but sat in the car to visit. I was surprised that we managed to do that - weren't overcome by allergies. The sun was low enough that I could manage with my eyes. They are fun to talk to. She is recovering from the effects of some treatments and has almost lost her voice, but is doing well.

He had an opinion to share with me ( :| ) regarding that fuss his two sisters have had, and about which I counseled my dmil somewhat. He talks with each of them on the phone almost every night - I didn't realize that. He definitely thinks my dmil could have had more patience.

Long, and long overdue, phone chat with ddolder. She's spent 3 days down with a migraine and its aftereffects. Extremely busy. The drive to take DangerBoy back to univ was very hard on her this time. Her work has been draining - she says every day brings a new fire that she is expected to put out but none are the same as any of the others.

Harriet, the doctor didn’t even listen to my chest! He did me a z-pack so I think he suspected an infection but he was in and out pretty quick!

I’ve been taking it awfully easy this week. Dgs is spending the night tonight. Tomorrow, dmom and I are going to the funeral of a family friend — actually, a first cousin to my late dfil. But he went to church with me and my parents, so I’ve known him all my life, and grew up with his children. He was over 90 years old.

Dgrands will be with other grandparents tomorrow night.
I’ll have another quiet evening after I get home tomorrow night.
Tomorrow is another day.
