((LadyM and dh)) Thinking of you and RR and our other caregivers.

I am spinning plates today trying to keep them all going. Thank goodness our houseguests got on their way - this was the daughter and partner of long-time friends who lived here when their and our kids were going up. The daughter and partner are moving to the Nashville area and wanted to stop overnight before getting their apartment keys today. I walked the dog, then sat down, and dd probably called 20 minutes later. Talked to her for 40 minutes - she had a member of our congregation contact her NY congregation (where she works) to get High Holy Day tickets because all congregations who are URJ members have reciprocity for other congregations. Anyway, dh and I are not a fan of this person, but she's always liked dd - or appeared to. DD gave me the okay to give her dd's phone number.

Lots going on with HOA too with meeting tonight, and backflow device inspections this week - I was asked to send a reminder and put on Facebook because the guy who sets it up isn't on Facebook.

And still trying to catch up with dh. I ate a muffin for breakfast - not the best start to the day but dh had purchased them for houseguests snacks. He also made omelets this a.m. but I had just gotten up so wasn't ready to eat.

Thanks for starting the monthly threads, Harriet! I've been so frazzled I haven't even looked outside this thread this a.m.

I have a lol ready to be hung up to dry - the bar in the laundry room is still not up. I think dh and I need to move washer/dryer to find it underneath. We ordered what we thought was a replacement but it's the wrong size. In addition, our washer "walks" all over the laundry room in spite of its anti-vibration feature. A repair person assured me that it's level but I'm not so sure. As a solution, dh has stuffed a pool noodle between the washer and dryer since it seems to move toward the dryer. I'm not sure that I like the looks of it, lol.

I'm continuing to try to get unpacked and get through a.m. routine. I still need to s2s.

Echoing Mystery:
Belated happy birthday wishes to Harriet and to LadyM's DD15!

** Big sigh of relief*** There isn't anything more for me to do on tax prep. I'm waiting on phone call back from CPA. I'm not sure if he is traveling so it might be a few days.

It is bumping up against triple digits heat today. The last I looked it was 98F. I have implemented the summer time "don't be stupid" rule for DH and myself. Limit physical activity outside that could cause us to overheat during the hottest part of the day. I still go outside in the heat to walk & garden but limit other activities until it cools down in the evening. I only burn the firepit during the early morning hours.

We enjoyed a lengthy phone call from lifelong friend Gary while we were driving this afternoon. It is easy for all of us to talk when the phone conversation is on the vehicle audio speakers.

Mystery, two things. First, I sure do hope you don't have any unhappiness over being tugged into assembly-line crafting. Second, I sure do hope you know how much we'd love to hear all about the threading and stitching and that delightful unstitching, too. (ducking and running? smile!) The theme of an October "farmer's market" is interestingly broad. If you find yourself hesitant over stitchery and wondering if your contribution would get done in time, you could try another type of handmade (realizing your friends must also get to hear about that, as well), maybe painting? Paint dries fast and the other ladies might appreciate something different. Flowerpots with painted flowers? Family names on small wooden crates? Make birdhouses from autumn gourds?

Nancy,, your mention of seeing tree trimming reminds me, we have a tree that is now sort of hanging pendulously over a power line. Sigh. HRH was pondering how much this might cost us, thinking the power co would have to cooperate.
