Movin' Monday

Hi everyone! It is sort of a gray *blah* day here today and I wanted to pop in to say hi. We're doing fine, just busy -- as usual and just like everyone else. Who isn't busy?

I just skimmed posts, but it seems like a lot of you need ((HUGS)).

Our girls aren't laying at all right now, Harriet. They all moulted 1-2 months ago, and egg production dropped off after that. Dh thinks it is the shorter daylight hours, so he'll hook up a light soon.

Well - there I go again, skipping the chit-chat and going straight into what is probably TMI for most of you. Ai yi yi. . .

As for today: I started out the day by meeting dh for coffee. He is leaving for the airport straight after he gives an exam later this afternoon for a work-related trip to Cali. I have gotten my Monday menu plan and groc. store trip done. The a.m. routine is done too. I've done a bit of coordinating via emails - there are a couple more emails I need to send out. I cleared shelves and window sills under the windows in our living room and kitchen as the window washers are supposedly coming today. They were supposed to be here at 1 but are running late and now say they'll be here at 4. At least they called a couple times to let me know.

Alright, off to start a 2nd lol and get in a little studying before the window washers arrive.. . I need to get to the gym today, probably around 4:30 or 5 -- or else this evening.

Dinner tonight is mac 'n cheese casserole for the kids, a lean cuisine for me (I gained some weight last week) and some fruit. Possibly some rolls from the freezer as well.

helia, we thought we were talking about downsizing and moving closer in to reduce our commute (not that it's a bad commute, especially compared to larger cities) but the houses that appeal to us are the ones about the same size as this, just with a master BR on the main for our old achy joints.

It is 50* and fair & sunny out so I could not stay indoors today. Fed the squirrels plus I've loaded the utility trailer with leaves swept the driveway and went on a short walk got caught up in chatting w/ a couple down the street that go to the same church. H. slept in till way past noon hoping the extra rest helps him. Canned salmon on the menu for dinner tonight with a salad and some veggies a salad too if I get in gear and get it made.

I'm happy to report that I've called our isp provider tech. support to get the settings tweaked so my ms/outlook mail is working again the way I like it. I like having it off line to use to type up letters ahead of time & spell check before I get on line seems to work better for me. I'd been putting that off.

Wow, what lousy weather here. Dark an hour early because of thick gray rain clouds just pouring. But I went ahead and did my bank and PO errands while picking up dd, which HRH and I had said would probably be the only time anyone went out today. It did seem chancy out, but now they are off my mind.

helia, only our 6-month brand new layers are producing regularly right now, "just coming in to lay" so they will be every-other-day girls for a while. And they certainly have chosen an awkward corner of the house to do it, but I'll get them straightened out, I hope. Yes, light will make a difference if your dh has the inclination to fix one up for them.

Dd needs to get her hair washed and then plow into homework.

I am thinking of a Round Robin by 15s through the house.

Hi Helia! Nice to see you here.

Dd and I were talking about Christmases past and I was saying that the less magical teen/young adult years were almost done and she said they were never horrid with us, just extended family. I suspect different cultural values were part of that - we were the family that did things together and my kids preferred to be with the adults. But the adults didn't value them as people. They also didn't have the same interests (travel, world events) and their cousins were useless (into drugs or fashion) so they were fish out of water at family events. To this day they love being with dd's godparents because that family is like ours, one unit, and when we are together we are all together, laughing, challenging each other to share interesting experiences, things learned, etc.

My windows are now clean! He finished at 6 pm, and it was dark around 5:30, so I'm not sure how he could see well, but they look good to the extent that I can see them in the dark. We only had the living room and kitchen windows done.

Dinner is just about ready, but it is 7 so I don't think I'll be able to make it to the gym tonight. I allow 2 hours after eating before I work out. Though, if I don't go jog for 30 minutes, maybe less than 2 hours is OK. Or maybe I'll just go tomorrow.

Oh my goodness... it was hard to get up & go to school this morning. Kept thing why why WHY did I not retire this week???
But. I made it through... and went to Wmart & ironing lady.

Hoping for a late start to the day tomorrow. We've already started seeing a little bit of snow flurries, but not really expecting accumulation.

Looks like it has been MONDAY all around.

So sorry for the awkward feelings and everything w/helia's family. Having never lived more than 20 miles from either set of grandparents, it is hard for me to relate. I am sooo sooo sooo glad that ds & ddil live here, and soooo soooo soooo prayerful that they always will... BUT... I don't want them to feel "distant" from ddil's family, either. So far, ddil has seen her parents, probably, at least every other month, so maybe that will continue after baby comes along. But I know she is not as close with extended family as we are, also, and I wonder sometimes if our bunch is too much for her, LOL!

(((Dee))) -- That is REALLY aggravating. A good example of why dh and I are so antisocial. My parents are constantly traveling with others, and dh says stuff like this must come up all the time.

Norma I hope your back is ok after all that.

DD2 had TGiving dinner with inlaws neice and too many people with too small space caused her to seperate everybody into rooms with sep. tables. I heard the middle DGSon saying yesterday how he didn't like being relegated to a room with just kids.

I've seen with us, the people we spend the most time with, either in person or just communicating daily are the people we stay the closest with.

I can't imagine how Dee is making out. We've had rain rain rain and a lot of lightning and our power keeps going out for just a minute. My dinner was in the oven and we went to eat and the power had shut off the oven so dinner was 2 hours late and Dh went to bed, too tired to wait and said he wasn't hungry when I asked him.

I cleaned out the pantry and threw a bunch of old stuff and stale stuff away. It just needs wiped out now. Brought in laundry and hung it in the garage. Sliced down a big ham I cooked. Made the guys' lunch for tomorrow. Cleaned up kitchen.

Boy I am tired. Sleep's going to feel good.

Still waiting to hear from Sunny. I called but she didn't answer. Some hospitals don't let you use cells. I sure wish I knew more.

I need to get the kids moving to clean up the dinner dishes. I've been goofing off.

I've sent off an e-mail to get on the list for church news as we missed this past weekend.
Chatting with the couple that goes to our church I expressed my concern about a ladies dessert function and she reminded me I could bring my own snacks on my diet eating prog. and she had the same concerns was a helper at times and said she would mention it as there were others with concerns of this nature.

H. is cooking his own hb patty for dinner glad he is up and around a bit more.
I looked up some ideas for soups with pumpkin in 'em.
I have granny duty tomorrow and a couple of errands to do.
