Wednesday Wow

Lunch is eaten and I have one more chapter in a mystery novel. My computer is still backing up. My list for tonight is made. I need to update Quicken and transfer some money, bring in the trash and recycle bins, put a picture frame in the car, add an item to my grocery list, take care of new foster cat, finish unsealing the bathtub (maybe), and go to the library. Yes, it is a long list and I may not get all of it done. But at least I have goals. I think I will go to church for dinner. I forgot what they are having, but remember it being something I like.

I'm actually hoping that, by "forbidding myself" to do anything productive today, I'll be able to actually get things done tomorrow. I took another nap, again with the dogs, who are so happy to have the company.

I've got the heat back on today - thermostat only at 64 degrees but temp was down to 61 earlier. Just enough to take the chill off.

Need to get dressed and ready to go to the new house....

Twins, it must feel like a big luxury to be free of goals and jobs today.

Elizabeth, do you name your foster cats like bittersweet does? And I wonder where she's been lately, too?

OKay, that's a lot of food to get together at the last minute. They are so lucky to have you to call in a pinch.

I kept checking email as we had a church funeral, but they must not have had to get a meal together as nothing was requested. That is one of our jobs as a committee. Sometimes we do it at the family's home but most often it is in our fellowship house. Some of our gatherings are small, but some like a local businessman's wife are huge, up to 500 people.

We have weather moving into our area, clouds and rain for the next several days at least. It is grey and cloudy now. We were supposed to have entire youth group here Sunday evening.

LOL hanging outside. Need to fold up last load. I have nothing else to report. Nice to have a slower day as I "recover".

Twins' Mom ~ I'm glad you get to enjoy some time off work. I can imagine your dogs doing the happy puppy dance all day long.

Lucylee ~ Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll put it on the list, but will not be reading anything with such a serious plot for awhile.

I'm still reading through some housekeeping blogs and have very much enjoyed a couple of nonfiction books -- CLARA'S KITCHEN with stories and recipes from the 1930s Great Depression years, and EATING FOR VICTORY reproductions of official WWII instruction leaflets from the British government for coping with food rationing.

In fiction I'm rereading some old favorites, the THRUSH GREEN series by Miss Read. Life in an English country village.

My sewing group board meeting went really well last night. We have our monthly educational programs planned out for the rest of the year, a retreat in July and another in October. I was able to give the financial records back to the snowbird Treasurer.

Also heard her story about the 3 hour hail storm they had in Texas, which resulted in hail drifts as high as her hip. I think the noise of a short hail storm is so loud, I cannot imagine enduring 3 hours of hail beating on the skylight of their Texas condo.

Well, it's a good plan, Twins, but around here, one unproductive day has just led to another.
Let's see... what have I accomplished today?

* read the paper
* started a new novel (yep, #3 since Friday night) This one is The Last Summer of You and Me, by Ann Brashares
* ate breakfast
* went to town --
-- cleaners, pick up/drop off
-- bank
-- post office
-- gas station for pizza & newspaper
-- home, b/c I realized that in spite of dh telling me to take 4 quarters, I had only taken 3
-- gas station for newspaper
* ate lunch
* thought about grading papers-vacuuming-cleaning bathrooms
* took a nap
* researched movie info for movie dh & I want to see tonight, IF his music practice is over in time

Not much to say WOW about, unless you're thinking, WOW, HOW LAZY CAN SHE BE???

Oh yeah... welcomed Aunt Flo. That's my excuse. Today.

Well. This is a (sad) WOW. Kind of the end of an era:
Dick Clark has passed away @ age of 82.

Wow I watched Dick Clark on American Bandstand beginning in the late 50s. He was on until 1990 but I didn't watch the almost 30 years.

I can hear Barry Manilow singing the theme song. I think everyone knew the words.

I just paid for my cruise!!! It is really going to happen! I also called about trip insurance.

Harmony: My fosters usually come with names. Cleo, the twelve year old tame one, was an owner release. Mona Lisa, who is being tamed, was named by the person who was feeding her colony.

Home from the walk through - very productive - and that's done. Going to read some and relax some more. DH went to play tennis tonight.
