Bernice:
Another tool you'll see here is the Ta-Da! list as opposed to the To-Do List. For many, going through a whole day and seeing nothing, or only a couple of items crossed off a to-do list is very depressing. But often that is a sign that one has been dealing with the important things in life.
So rather than seeing a to-do list such as this at the end of the day:
Empty dishwasher Done!
Sweep and mop kitchen floor
Dust main floor
Vacuum carpets
Grocery shopping Part Done
Load of Laundry Done!
you would see a Ta-Da list that shows:
S2S
Empty Dishwasher
Launched kids to school
Got dinner into the crock pot while...
On phone for an hour with recently widowed friend
Helped the neighbour find her missing dog
Weeded front garden
Emptied the kitchen garbage
Picked up kids from school
Stopped at ice cream shop for a celebratory snack since ds got 100% on science project
Dropped by the grocery store after ice cream shop and picked up essentials
Did a load of laundry
Cleaned up the kitchen after dinner
Supervised the kids' homework
Watched my recorded tv show while doing the mending.
Just because our to-do lists are not completed each day doesn't mean we aren't being the best homemakers and community members that we can be. The Ta-Da list recognizes what we do accomplish, not all we didn't get done.

I'll joing the throng -your l**t makes me smile, Bernice, and remember when I could get all that done in a day. So this definitely IS the place for you!
I did my first 5 and more. Did the dishes, washed my hair (for those who haven't heard me talk about that -have to do it separated from the shower because I don't have use of my left arm -at least to raise it at all), vacuumed and mopped through, shook out rugs, straightened where it needed it, have the laundry done AND put away. No applause needed.
MT, it's my blood sugar that's up -not BP. Did I say that? Could be. Will have to go check. Though you're right, BP could be up with impending company. I've just decided it's only 3 days out of a year and I can relax and enjoy it. I have not put the ash trays out (on the deck) because I figure dsisil will ask me for them. And I can (conveniently) say I forgot because we have them put away due to dh's and my allergies/sensetivities to cigarette smoke. She can smoke out there if she wants, but will have to realize dh and I just can't be around it inside or out.
DH had left to go golfing and was here when I got back, with clothes changed. What's up, said I? Seems one of the guys is waiting for the phone company -his was taken out with the storm from Isaac on Tuesday. Originally he wasn't going to wait around as the guy next door had them coming too for his. ???
Have to look and see if I got the email -sure I did. Thanks, Kathryn.
Taking a short rest since I've been going, going, going since I got up at 6:40. Thinking out my route for errands -meat groceries at one store, rest of shopping at W mart, fill up gas tank (cheaper on Thursdays), and stop and get the mail. That's my route and I'm sticking to it. Heading to Geneseo for the shopping run -22 miles away. Will go to S am 's on Saturday to pick up things for Sunday. Pulled pork, rolls, etc.

All that being said, my to-do and ta-da lists are pretty empty today.
My body seems very weak for some reason. It is hard to figure out how must is due to my needing rest and how much is atrophy from resting all the time. I'm certainly not at the stage that a bit of movement gives me more energy the following day.
My blood work from yesterday is in and my white blood cells are all back in the normal range. My liver enzymes are still up, though. My GGT is up slightly, the rest is down so I'm now 1.5x over normal, not 2.5x times normal (and way better than 25x normal I was 4 weeks ago.)
Dee: I believe it was you who had noted that with increased Vitamin D your BS was better this year. Is there any change in that part of diet recently?

Think dh was planning to take his DB to the steam show in Alexander, NY on Saturday, but it's not looking like a very promising day to do that. Had thought I'd take dsisil to see the wind turbines about 30 miles away, but not sure it would be good for that either. She says she's yet to see one turning. Just want to show her tons of them, with a good share of them turning. Understand when it looks like they're barely moving, they're doing 60mph.
Have to figure Plan B (rain and cold). Of course it will be cool -it's been 80-almost 90 for weeks and now we have company.

Morning y'all
I am THE Alabama girl whose football team gave yours a hard time Sat. I thought about you while I was watching. Lucylee belongs to the OTHER Alabama football team. However when my Al team plays TN my blood runs Go Big Orange along with Twins mom dd.
See what we mean Bernice???
There is pounding on my roof and soon holes

I am loosing a window in my bathroom, but am gaining a skylight. Need to finish picking up footprints, folding and putting away laundry, making my bed, and vacuuming. I am meeting a friend after school for dinner. Need to make sure Sweetie has something to eat before I go.
Am making rice crispy treats to send to my df in aftghanistran. Not sure how much the mailing will cost me but figure my contribution is small compared to what he is doing. Ran errands yesterday. Wrote a letter to my West Point nephew as well. He is a senior this year and is very interested in our genealogy. That took me a while as well.
Need to finish my coffee and get going. Waving to y'all.....have a great day

Good morning, villagers ~
Apron Day at home today

and I deliberately stayed off the computer until I got to a certain point in the process.
Dh and I met a couple of old friends for pizza last night. We had not seen them in months so it took a couple hours to catch up on each other's news.
Last night I needed to search at 2 grocery stores for sauerkraut, did not realize it was such an exotic ingredient.

DMIL's birthday is Saturday and everyone is getting together for pot luck supper. We are taking the sauerkraut salad that was so well-received at the family picnic a couple months ago. It needs to marinate at least 2 days, so I put it together first thing this morning.
Break time is over, moving on.

I am enjoying reading what everybody is doing. Especially those clearing out whole spaces, making children's rooms pretty and functional.
I used to work like that a lot of the time. How long has it been since I've been able to do that? Too long.
I am feeling weak today. But I am attempting to get things straightened out around here. Putting stuff away, a little organizing. Today's list is in my head. I'm another list-maker.
The hardest part of all this is the weakness in my legs. I'm working for a few minutes then sitting down for 5 or 10. This getting up and down is very very hard for me right now. My legs feel like spaghetti. Cooked. Yesterday in the thrift shop, when I'd get down to look at a bottom shelf I could hardly get up. I don't like this one bit.
So, I'm going to sit in my office chair and work on the files in here. I think I can accomplish that at least.

Another site with the obit for Indiana, this one with a guestbook:
http://obit.geisenfuneralhome.com/obitd ... ng=Current
(it wasn't there this morning when I checked the funeral home website.)
Back from my errand. Driving went fine but had to concentrate hard and found turning my body to look back when backing the car was hard.
I've had lunch. Generator guy is here so that will get done earlier than expected
