Good Morning Dear Ladies,
I am thankful for the wonderful sunshine and shady trees I enjoyed on my one mile walk this morning. Got 5 chapters of the Bible done while I walked.
Haven't done a whole lot in the house today. I've been helping DH with his back. He has me put the tens machine on his back in the morning and then at night time for awhile. At night time, I put it on him, watch an episode of Andy Griffith and take it off. He usually falls asleep. In the mornings, I get up put it on his back for 20 minutes and then take it off. The chiropractor also gave him some exercises to do so I just watch to make sure he doesn't fall or his back go out. Anyway, the extra time has chipped away at my sleeping time and I am beginning to feel it. So maybe today, I'll take it easy. Don't need me to get run down too.
Going to make some lunch, get a shower in and then relax for awhile.

Dee, is there some sort of center for the blind in your area? If I had the sort of worries you have about insurance/benefits and job for your DGS, I'd be calling the Cleveland Sight Center -- if there's a similar place in your neck of the woods, I'd recommend you check there.
Harriet, stevia comes from the tropical plant of the same name -- just did some checking, and it's Stevia rebaudiana.
Tens machine, Sadie?
Got all the previous done -- now I have to hope I get an e-mail back with a ride for dd (and more importantly, an adult to supervise -- I could drop her at the rink early if I knew someone would be there for her). If I don't, I think my options are either to call dfriend to take dd to the rink (I've already imposed on her once; I hate to do so again), or to take DD to her rink first -- she's reluctant b/c she doesn't know the other girls very well yet and because she wants someone there to tie her skates (she's not very good at doing it herself). It might be a good thing if I drop her off first and suggest she ask one of the older girls if they have any tricks for getting skates tight enough. DD really needs to learn to do it herself. I could easily do it by her age, but I never had hockey skates, just figure skates with those hooks for the upper part of the laces, so you could lean back and pull the length of the lace and do it again for the next pair of hooks and so on.
As for dinner, it will either be spaghetti & meatballs made ahead or pizza picked up on the way home from school, since we'll have less than an hour between getting home & having to leave again. I'm leaning toward pizza, as we could each have a slice to tide us over, then warm up the rest when we got home. However, I've only got $20 on me. On the other hand, that $20 was to tide me over to tomorrow, and there won't be much today left after dinner. Will check the gas tank, and if I don't need the $ for gas, pizza it will be.
Hmm... another gas company vehicle coming up the street. I hope there's not a leak somewhere!
Next up:
• lunch
• clean up lunch; start dishwasher (hmm... another vote for pizza -- minimal dishes will get our dishwasher cycle back on track)
• check e-mail

LOL! Gotta love guys, I just asked DS19 for 3 things that he is thankful for and he listed them "a house, a job, and food." He is my non-emotional one... will try this experiment with DS13 when he gets home, I have a feeling it will be a totally different answer.
Class is done!!! I now have yet another certificate and titled to add to my huge collection. I love to learn, so I am always looking for something new. I have to work at the Hospital tomorrow and Saturday 7a-7p, then will be off Sunday and on evening/night shift next week. Gonna enjoy my afternoon... 1st up a nap! For dinner I am making shepherds pie with the left over lamb.
Have a great afternoon everyone.

I don't know why I have grapes associated in my mind with stevia - maybe it is supposed to taste like grapes or something, but as you say, Mystery, "there is a plant for that".
So I don't have to cast about for added ingredients.
I waved a thankful "see you later" to my half-year companion, the sunshine. Not that it won't be there, but no reason for me to try to arrange to meet the sunbeams again until spring. Tomorrow begins D winter here. I'm grateful simple things are here for our well-being. I remember my late dh's nieces and nephews used to ask the blessing on a meal by singing about "the sun and the rain and the apple seed".
Well, OKay, you tried. You'll probably get more done on the shopping trip if it is just a shopping trip - I'm sure it's a little stressful to him as it is. Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up.
helia, do you get to talk to your ddad when you call? Maybe take a little time to briefly tell him about the children and then you can go back to what your dmom wants to talk about. So glad your brother is interested.
I hope the machine helps dh with his back, Sadie. I know Andy Griffith does.

Congrats on the class, scattered!
Andy Griffith helps Sadie's DH with his back, Harriet???
I'm guessing Andy Griffith is an advocate of using the same machine, maybe?
Got the previous done, though I'm still a bit peckish.
Thinking because of our quick turnaround time tonight, I will aim to be near the front of the pick-up line (no, not that sort of "pick-up line"
), even though it will mean sitting around for half an hour or so. Maybe there is some paperwork I can bring along (she says, with a five-inch stack of things next to her!). Need to program number for the pizza place into my cellphone, too.
Next up:
• set timer for departure
• program pizza place into phone
• shut down this computer; it's being really slow, and I can't remember when I last shut it down rather than putting it to sleep
• gather paperwork to take
• work on finishing wash till I get it done, or it's time to leave
Cards completed: 10/24

Harriet It may be D winter but the sun has amazing powers beyond producing Vitamin D, even in the dead of winter. For me, 30 minutes outside in winter, cloudy or sunny, will produce more light into my brain than 30 minutes under my SAD light. So, for mood, weight control and rest, you should still make a date with the sun whenever you can. Just pop a pill for the D.
I just finished volunteering for 4 hours at Presbytery. Got the database updating finished. Cleaned out a very messy corner, tossed a green garbage bag of junk and several boxes of stuff to recycle. I still haven't found the bank deposit book, though (part of the reason I was going through things.) The Presbyetery Minister was going through some things with me and found cheques dating back to the summer. I have a whole container of cheques from September. This is really, really, bad but not my responsibility. Still, it burns me that I'm volunteering and the person paid to handle the books and money isn't doing her bit. Not because I need the money but because I feel that they are wasting money on her.
I can't go in next week at all (fully booked) but will be in the following week for a few days and will finally get the furniture moved and the books shelved properly.
I've had my lunch at Tim Horton's and will probably just crawl into the back seat of the car for a nap.
Last night I invited 8 people for Thanksgiving dinner and have heard from 3 that they can't come and 2 that they will come. I included my minister friend from far away and have set up a visit with him and lunch on November 25. That's the next day we are both free!

I'm finally back from moms group. I had 2 intense conversations afterward -- good, but intense. I'm exhausted now.
It is a beautiful day here! Clear, sunny, 74.
I'm thankful for wise insightful friends (thinking of a friend at moms group). I'm thankful for such a wonderful dh and 3 great kids, even dd16 with her foibles. Perhaps especially dd16 - she is so insightful and self-aware (too self aware, sometimes). I'm thankful for the beautiful weather today!
I'm eating lunch.
Happy to hear dgs19 is out of surgery Dee.
Yes, Harriet, it would be helpful for me to talk to my ddad. In fact, I don't think I've talked to him for a couple months, maybe.
What is D winter? --OH, vitamin D producing. .
I love to learn too, scattered! My interests aren't always so practical, though. . .thus, my adventure in biblical Hebrew classes. So interesting but no practical job opportunities. LOL! I have exhausted Univ. Mich.'s classes and am now partaking of classes at a local synagogue. I really enjoy it!
I'm going to finish my lunch with a book. I may try a power nap this afternoon. I need to leave at 3:20 to go pick up dd14. That gives me. .. a little over an hour.

*PHEW* it worked!! I took red concrete paint and mixed it with dark green concrete paint and it turned a beautiful brown color! Then I took a double handful of sand from LO sandbox and dropped it in the mixture. I used the mixture to paint one of the house entry porch and steps. IMHO it made a 100% improvement. Hopefully it will dry okay
I have 50 minutes until time to leave to get DGS17. I'm going to put my feet up and force myself to rest.
