Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Have to quick get ready to go with dh this morning. He's going to breakfast with several of his 'cronies' who also retired from the Big Yellow Box. I found a W Mart only a block or so from the restaurant (which is east of the city -about 40 miles). So rather than wait for him to get home & head out in the other direction for a 45 mile round trip, I'll save gas and go with him.
Slept very poorly last night. I was determined not to take my benadryl as I knew I'd be groggy this morning.
Now to re-do some paper work for dh. What I did was not really what he wanted.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Dee - (((hugs))) know the feeling, have you tried Melatonin? I'm allergic to Benedryl but found that Melatonin works better and doesn't leave me groggy.
I'm thankful for my kids, my family, my home, my job, my life.
Up and s2s, working on coffee, supposed to be out around noon today... sounds like an opportunity for a nap.
See ya'll later.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Melatonin leaves me groggy (but works wonders otherwise) so I didn't take any last night (have to get going early today.) Apparently 3 nights in a row was enough to remind my system how to sleep. I even had a late nap yesterday afternoon and went off to sleep just fine.
I'm up and at it. Cleaned our bathroom, tidied my room a bit, selected t-shirts to put away until spring (I leave 4 out for warm days and travel) and watered the plants. Am just finishing my breakfast now.
Dee thanks for the update on your grandson.
Now I need to pack up and get ready to go.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
thank you for your good wishes for my day today.
I even cleaned the fish tank before I went this morning.
Met dd and dgks for lunch before we whent to Mummies exhibit. Its having a 2 mth extention on its stay and needed to book in to a session to attend. Family rates were cheaper so dd did it that way.
3d vidio was a little wierd as it travelled thru the ct scanned mummy. I did not buy anything.
Exhibit was not as grand as the Egyptian Gold one in 88 - Brisbane Expo year. DD told me she got cranky at the 3hr wait to get in and left to go to Expo (DM had bought us season tickets), then was upset to have missed it as her dsis raved about it. I remember dd2 talking to the attendants about "things" on display. This was more about the Mummys and their Gods - as is understood these days at least.
DD dgd and I looked at a display of clothing designers - 1 designer with lots of samples from 50s - 70s, and a couple of newly graduated designers work. Dgs sat that one out.
Helia - My dm can't bear to hear someone/ my dd's or dgks/ is unusally good at something either. I think she thinks its bragging, or putting others down if someone else wasn't doing that ??? Though it seems to me she is happy to talk about other family members. I give up on it. Find that when I ring I just listen. Seems no space to say anything thats going on for me and mine, or details I don't know are wanted. If I mention anything mostly she takes it back to her other family members... My dsisyounger with a heap of health problems in her past, and some ongoing. I doubt she has a clue ...
Anyway. I have no advice. I feel a version of your pain though.
My Aim - Finding peace of mind. Loving them anyway. Not trying to change her. Though it would be amazing if she did change.
Dee - Good news re DGS. Will keep on prayers.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Good Morning!
I'm thankful for God's mercy, for DH tireless effort each day, for parents with abundance of wisdom, for children that I love never ending, for grandchildren who are each unique and priceless.
A couple weeks ago, LO was having a hard morning so we started playing the "I am thankful for" game. It has become an every morning activities as we drive to school. We list a handful (5 fingers) of things he is thankful for. Typically they are something like -
I am thankful for.............the birds flying through the air
I am thankful for.............the sun shining in the sky
I am thankful for.............the green trees
I am thankful for.............the waffles GG made for me
I am thankful for.............my friend C
It is a great start to every day to stop and realize how much we have to be thankful for.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Good morning!
Posting over breakfast, though I'm almost finished. Need to prod the girls to eat rather than read. (Amazingly, I can chew and post at the same time!)
(((Harmony)))
Feel better, Ivy. I hope you had a good sleep.
So glad to hear your DGS is doing better, Dee! Sorry you slept poorly; good luck with those papers.
What a lovely start to our Thankful Thursday, OKay! I just looked at the sky and smiled -- though in a few weeks, I won't be able to look at the sun in the sky this early!
Waving to everyone else!
Felt very frazzled when going to bed last night; lots of pressure to do what other people want by their deadlines, and my own priorities have been slipping.
As for the bulletin board, have decided to tell the librarian I forgot it (I will let her decide whether I mean I forgot to do it or forgot to bring it) and will bring it this afternoon or tomorrow. I can at least take down the previous board and put up the new backdrop while I'm there.
Yikes! Almost forgot to pack the girls' lunches -- I made everything last night & put it in the fridge, but I still needed to get it into their lunch boxes. Asked them point blank, and they say they have not yet received information about parent-teacher conferences next week. I have not gotten anything from the school except to say they are occurring.
Outside events for the day: Library this morning; simultaneous practices for the girls this afternoon -- still haven't figured out what I'm doing about that.
Going to clean up breakfast, then head out to the library -- I'll head back here once I'm back from there!

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
After I take LO to school I will have 6 hours home to get things done. I am planning on making some good progress.
My invitation to DD to join the homecoming clothes shopping trip with DGS17 turned into a HUGE ordeal.
The invitation was followed by two hours of txt and phone calls with false accusations toward me flying fast and furious. Going through SO MUCH DRAMA over the simplest of activities is exhausting. As far as I know, DGS17 wasn't a part of it. I am THANKFUL for that.

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
Love the theme! Our moms group read Ann Voskamp's One thousand Gifts last year, and many of us kept a gratitude journal. I should continue it. I didn't get anywhere close to 1,000! But I have much to be thankful for. . . more later.
thank you Lynlee. Weird, but it helps me to know I'm not the only one out there who experiences this. . . . Yes, maybe my dmom sees anything I say about my kids' success as bragging -- but I always thought that grandparents loved to hear brags about their grandkids? That's how other grandparents I know seem to operate, and it's not like I would be competing with dmom or anything -- we're family and part of the same team, or so I thought. But, for whatever reason, that is not the way my dmom works. My ddad is less that way.
Drama last night with dd16, anxiety, continually mulling over thoughts, and perhaps attention seeking behavior. We're going to call a counselor today. There is one in our church we'll start with.
Meanwhile, I am off to moms group! It is nice to go as an attender w/out teaching up front! Later today, dd14 has an oboe lesson at 3:45, so I'll need to pick her up immediately after school. I'd like to squeeze in a jog. And then, I think dfriends R and A will be coming over for dinner.
Dinner: breaded and pan-fried pork tenderloin medallions, baked potatoes, butternut squash, bread of some sort, maybe a salad/fruit.
((OK)) Ooh, I really don't like false accusations. . . . .
Have a great day all!

Re: THANKFUL THURSDAY
DSon called and visited while he was driving to work (rare) and I was driving home from school run. Such a joy to share daily happenings.
Alrighty! I have ZERO cards marked completed today. That is not a good sign for my expectations of having a productive 6 hours.
....going to work the cards.....just do the next one....
