Well, I'd just gotten breakfast cleaned up when DB called & said his friend would be around the shop for the next couple of hours and would be happy to give the car a listen -- when should he tell him I'd be coming by? I said I'd be right there and drove the car up. After a listen, he pronounced the van safe to drive. The problem is apparently in the ventilation system; it would seem that a little door inside one of the vents is not opening or closing properly, either because something has fallen off the dash and in through the defrost vent and is blocking the door, or because some little plastic part has broken, and somewhere there is an actuator desperately trying to get that doggone door to close (or open, whichever it is). However, to find out exactly which door is malfunctioning and why would require removing the dashboard. The mechanic recommends turning up the radio.

Have had lunch now, but that's it. Been distracted by a newspaper article, reminiscences due to such, and much Goo gling due to reminiscences....

I have 2 hours ahead of me until the girls get home, much of which I would not have if I had the afternoon run, so I had best make the most of them.

No obvious mice here, but we must get/have gotten some in our attic, as I occasionally find droppings when I'm looking for something. I'm afraid to set traps there, as we go up there so seldom -- I'd rather find droppings occasionally than deal with the smell of dead mouse, since the mouse would probably get to that stage before I'd remember to check the traps.

OK, back to the previous agenda (with "clean up lunch" replacing "clean up breakfast"!)

Good Morning, Ladies on our Conga Friday!

OKay, Your DGS17 will look SO spiffy! He has excellent taste in clothes, by the way. I thought his outfit sounded impeccable. And mice! We had 1, DH caught it with his welding gloves on, because the cat plays with mice, lets them go, and DH throws them out the sliding glass door- but they get back in. If they're in the house, 1 place they hide out in is in the cat's night-night room behind the washer machine. We just got 2 flat sticky traps for under the main bathroom sink, in hopes when they come in there, we'll catch one. Good luck!

Helia, It's great you jog, put your health first, and are successfully going to W.W., too. It sounds like you weren't expecting everybody in that particular group, but like it worked out for you. It's nice your DH was in a lot of conversation, which helped you, too. Happy b-day celebration, too!

Dee, I'm glad you slept well. Hope the news comes to you soon, on dgs19, too. Waiting can be agony for me! I pray and journal, to help 'cope', while waiting for things.

Lilac, Hopefully dd2 won't work all weekend. I understand where you're coming from, too. I hope the weekend works out so the little ones see their DMom more. They sound like they miss her. Life is hard sometimes, when dealing with adult kids. For me, it's hard for me to keep my opinion to myself and not call or email and say something wrong, which perpetuates bad feelings. Done that, been there, refuse to go there again.

Twins' Mom, When I read through your post the 1st time, I thought you woke up with 5 dogs and DH and thought WOW! 5 dogs! That's a lot! But I re-read it. Enjoy your day!

Scattered, Do you journal or walk to clear cobwebs from your head? It seems to help me. You have nice, too? Us, too. They love moving into a comfy house in the winter. I fear a mouse bed in a yarn bin. I wish our cat didn't play with them and then let them go.

Nancy, You're so lucky to have a Dgd! She sounds absolutely precious. (I'm getting one in March!) I'm looking forward to her birth so much.

Kathryn, Did the Melatonin help you to sleep better? That's GR8 about your car insurance, too! Last night, I went to bed a bit earlier for me, but then a coyote started yipping and howling in the back woods, next to our house! He did that for about 1/2 hour. Guess he got separated from the other coyotes. There are several here, plus a cougar.

MysteryWoman, I hope your car can get well soon! We had so many years with 2 cars and problems with both of them, back and forth. It was so frustrating for us. It upsets the entire schedule and flow of a "planned" day. I'd have to take DH to work early, then get him, plus I had the kids, getting them to and from school, and I sure remember the hassle.

Harmony, Duck Command sounds like a fun and entertaining show to watch. It's amazing how much money they made, too!

I slept well, after the coyote stopped his noise-making. Got up at 9 a.m., which is sort of late for me, but DH likes to sleep in until then, as he's up in the night a couple times.

Try to do some of my Conga (Will enlist DH to help, too, while I write/read/research on and off). DH is really good about pitching in when I'm working. He refuses to let me vacuum, so I don't know how to use this new vacuum. I think since my rotator cuff surgery Nov. 2010, he's cautious for me pushing a heavy vacuum with my arms, which are attached to the shoulder. DUH! I might spread out my Conga from Friday through Monday, too, so it eventually all gets done. This works well for me. I can work and the house isn't let "go".

Everyone, enjoy your Conga Friday! It's sunny here, it was really cold, it will be in the 60's and there's a fire they're working to get under control, about 15 miles from us. Homes are in danger, so evacuations have been made. I feel so badly for those poor people. It would be so scary and a high degree of uncertainty to go through that situation. We have woods all around us, so it could be us anytime, too. It's so dry. No rain for 76 days straight, but Oct. 12, they forecast rain! YAAY!!!!!!

We've had a tough day. HRH has had to stay home all day. I spent hours at the other house as HRH took over here and sent me away, and we both believed it would improve. I don't think it did. I didn't return until I had dd with me after school as per instructions. Maybe after another reset.

I have been able to CUOPosts now, partially with speed reading - had no 'puter with me.

I hope The DeeClutters get to quietly visit dgs and communicate love, just touch base during his healing. All the best.

Accomplishments? I vacuumed at the other house - it took me several minutes to settle my brain and make myself go through those motions but that much did happen. Honestly for a minute I couldn't remember how to work a vacuum because my brain wouldn't stop. There was no food there and I'd had no breakfast, so I went out for a sandwich lunch and during that time got gasoline, looked the mail. Pitiful TaDas for sure. Oh, I did call both older children from there and dd32 is sick with a cold, seeing the dr today, dsonil also has it. Back here at our house I had letters to go into the mail, but no way to do it, so I missed that mail.

That reminds me I need stamps. If I type it here it will get done, lol.

No, reset didn't happen. Nap didn't happen. The only thing that's changed is that dd is dealing with it now, too.

The arm bone's connected to the shoulder bone, huh, Ivy? Heaven forbid this van die -- I have to carefully schedule even when I get it fixed, because I can't drive DH's car! (One of these days, I really need to learn to drive stick shift. )

OKay -- your DGS17 sounds like me when I was younger -- knowing exactly what he wants but not where to find it. I remember how frustrating it can be! Of course, once I got to sizes that start with "2" or "X," my criteria soon became, "Does this fit?" and "Does it not look totally awful?" And, once I had kids, "Is it cheap?" (I can't help but think of the song on one of the old Mitch Miller records in my DGM's attic: "That's where my money goes/To buy my baby clothes/I buy her everything/To keep her in style/Well, well, well/She wears silk underwear/I wear my last year's pair/Say, boys, that's where my money goes.") Your DGS17, on the other hand, sounds like he will look like a million bucks!

Harmony: not sure a golf bag will fit into the back of a Prius V (what we bought and the largest of the Prius family) but we know for sure it won't fit in a regular one and the new C is even smaller than the regular Prius. Part of the reason we are moving up to a V is that we can't get our 3 suitcases into the back of our car when we go to the airport. Let alone the 3 suitcases plus our carry on bags.

The Prius is a seriously small car (we have a hard time seating a 4, 7 and 9 year old in the back of the car - they barely fit.) It looks bigger than it actually is. We are hoping the new one will be just enough wider that it will fit ds, dd, and dsil in the back seat for short drives. When we were in Nova Scotia, we simply took 2 cars everywhere when more than 4 of us were going.

I haven't done anything else today except write a short note to dd and walked to the general store to mail it.

Mystery Pulling a dash is really expensive. Ds learned how to pull his in order to install a fancy stereo and while it was off, replaced a burned out light bulb in the clock. Until then, it wasn't worth get the lightbulb fixed!

MysteryWoman, It's wonderful your DB looked at your car. I'd much rather see mouse droppings than smell rotting mice, too.

Kathryn, Sorry a Prius is so small, but don't they get wonderful gas mileage? Is it an electric car, too. I'm not "with it" on cars.

Our ta da: (I say "our" ta da because DH is helping.)
- I started a load of laundry.
- I scrubbed 3 toilets, but DH re-scrubbed 1 because he said I missed a few spots.
- We both re-made the bed, from our throwing back the covers this a.m. Looks better.
- DH put TP around into the 3 bathroom cabinet bottoms.
- I cleaned some bathroom sinks, DH did 1, I got all the counters and kitchen counters, too.
- I tidied the dining table and main office art table desk.
- Put some "stuff" away.
- Found a shell stitch baby girl crochet afghan pattern, checked and I have enough yarn in pink, for our grd.

While cleaning, I pulled something in my back right side of my neck. DH and I were watching a YouTube forward about the military, to beautiful music together, so I did some neck stretches. I'll baby-step the daily plans about doing computer things, research, writing. I guess if I was working outside the home, I'd go home after lunch. Will just nurse this along until it's better. So this is what I get for doing housework? Maybe I should NOT do housework because of safety concerns. Just kidding. The stretches help a lot.

My dh has NEVER re-scrubbed a toilet! I'm not sure he's ever scrubbed a toilet, actually. Dh does do a lot, though, helps in other ways. So nice you have some help, Ivy.

My parents have had a prius for several years. They also have a hybrid SUV. . . the Highlander maybe?

I'm back from the groc. store. Dh is working on the rub for the lamb. I need to finish putting away groceries.

I don't want to go for a jog, but I know I'll feel good if I do. . . .

Helia - I have the leftover lamb from earlier this week heating up in the crock-pot with carrots and peas, I'm going to add some cornstarch to make it into a gravy and then top it with mashed potatoes and cheese for shepherds pie.

the water pressure in the sink has dropped dramatically and we can't find a cause under the sink so now the DS's are under the house in the crawl space trying to figure out whats wrong. The Ddog has the Lamb bone which is working well to keep her busy while the boys are under the house. Hopefully it's nothing big. I am d2s and drinking my coffee. Have to leave for work in about 1.5 hrs.

Went to the Pink Store in Las Palomas, MX, just south to Columbus, NM. They have some of the best food there plus anything and everything for my house. I picked up a dresser scarf, some glasses and will go back later for salt and pepper shakers that will match my napkin holder. They are unpacking a huge (2 trucks) load of new stuff.

We will also be going back there next week with the people Rally. I feel really safe there as the people in the store even call us by name. So nice.

Time for happy hour - it was a 3 hour lunch so now almost 4 pm.

Will update the blog later tonight or in the morning.
