Had a good time in the church office. Was surprised how much I missed doing that! We went over the service and we sorted through all the leftover bulletin covers so if we don't get all 52 weeks covered in 2014, we'll be able to find appropriate covers.

Then I visited with my senior friend for a bit. The church is going to have to ramp up pastoral care visits if we have no-one to do so long-term.

Finally, I'm having a quick lunch out so I can get my chili. Need to hurry off now and head to choir.

Nancy, do you mean a protestant thing in the way that I would ... that I would say, "Oh, let's give everyone a book to sing from so they know what they're doing by reading music for themselves !!" :| (Sorry, MHO )

Well, interruption now.
So much on which I'd like to comment. I would have to get up in the mid of the night to not be interrupted while posting I think.

Home again for awhile. The CPA firm I work(ed) for is merging into an out of town firm - I think that may seal the deal for me that I won't go back. I think that coming back for tax season and getting used to changes might be more than I want to deal with.

Canine PT used some laser, acupressure and the water treadmill. She thinks Macs has degenerative spine issues but thinks that some of the above might help keep him mobile. So I've paid in advance for her package of 10 sessions and we'll see where that takes us.

Helia and Harriet, I don't know that I've mentioned dd's foot much - it became sore in mid-April, she was Health services at UTK and they x-rayed and indicated not broken. She's used a boot off and on (when convenient) since then but it's not much better, so it was time to have it checked out. She has iced it some and taken ibuprofen along the way. The bone scan in the morning will be more definitive - the doc saw something different on the X ray in the area she is sore. I worry about her not being able to go to camp and being home all summer underfoot w/o a car - I think I'd lose it!

I am going to try for a nap. Tired.

Harriet LOL! We don't even have books there! When the p/c was broke they handed out song sheets. It would be nice to read a note or two while singing. Over head is over rated IMO and I'm old school about that!

We've had mid-morning snacks for us when we get up early lunch time is early around here! BabyN's mom brought the extra sensitive wipes and diapers, dd brought lunch/snacks for dgd it would be nice if they all brought snacks food on a more regular basis. I have to keep stocked up on cake mixes cookies for the munch mouths. Only one box of pudding left of the ten I bought a while back. Cereal today I think as dgd does not like noodles like dgson does.

Leftovers are gone and winds are still so maybe we can grill burgers tonight looking forward to that. They were out of the reduced sugar at the store when I was there last time.

 I think the mountains are calling and I need a tree fix. Craft time is a hit w/ dgd she's asking to paint again had to tell her that we could but not until after three when the baby leaves and her bro. is doing home work.

Sounds like a good stopping place to me, Twins! Think you'd find life so much different and then not being president on top of that. But watch out because most people think that 'retired' people should have all the time in the world. :?

Harriet, so glad to have that car fixed and dependable again with all the trips coming up across the city and expressways. Don't think there's any way to get there except by super highways -except through some pretty bad sections and I don't want to go that way! DD14's concert sounded so nice. I go to any of those school functions with dd when I'm down there. Always enjoy seeing what the kids are doing and how they advance. Think she has about 9 days left. They extended their school year by 2 weeks about 2 or 3 years ago (starting later in August). Now they're a couple of weeks off from us. Schools here are in session until around June 24th.

Raining again. Poor dh is trying so hard to get the cutting done. We're supposed to go to a dfriend's daughter's softball game in town. If it keeps this up, it'll be cancelled, I'm sure. Dh wants to drive the "cruise" mobile tonight. Think he's proud to be using it. I'm sure the new NY license plates are going to clash big time with the color on the car. The car is mostly a very nice orange and NY plates are a sort of pumpkin orange -I really dislike them. So far we still have blue & white on ours, but imagine we'll have those once we change cars someday.

Just went up to pay dh's store tally but it's not ready yet. Don't like the way the camp manager looks. Know she wasn't feeling good this weekend. (She has become our 'adopted' daughter & dd's very close friend). Am concerned about her.

Just spent 62 minutes on the phone with my old vdfriend from IN. (Her dh was our pastor for a few years quite a long time ago & we have stayed close all these years.) Had a brainstorm while talking to her. We were planning a trip to Branson, MO out through IN to see them when we leave in November. Now I'm wondering if dh is feeling well enough to travel some later this summer and not working, why not go then? At least it's something to think about.

I'm with you, Kathryn. Didn't realize how much I missed my church work until I started doing it by myself in FL all spring/late winter. That's where my gifts lie and it keeps me busy and doing something worthwhile.

I was glad for the phone call as I had dozed off and was having (daytime) nightmare involving GD in FL. Had a hard time shaking it for a few minutes. :?

Home from choir. I have 4 anthems to learn, 1 for this week, 1 for next, 2 for Anniversary Sunday. I can do it, I can do it.

The musician has a new puppy (Labradoodle) who is actually very adorable and quite calm. And sooooo soft.

Dh is in Cuzco now. That's the highest elevation he'll be at (Cuzco is actually higher than Machu Picchu.)

I need to get my act together. There's a sermon to be written, baking of a dessert to be done and general taking care of myself and the house.

Ds managed to get up in time to tell me he'd been called into work so I don't have him to cook my dinner. I'm having some of the hamburg & rice chowder instead. Tomorrow night and Sunday night are taken care of (church dinners.)

I'm with Harriet on the use of books/hymnals in church. Our church, thankfully, does not repeat choruses ad infinitum. . . That also drives me crazy, nancy. Maybe that is also a trait of non-main line churches' worship styles? Our church is a blend of main-line/non-main-line; we have both hymns and "praise songs" in the service.

Not being very productive here; I did get the kids to the dentist. All is well; dd14 has a deep groove in an incoming molar that will either need a filling if it is a cavity or a sealant if it is just a deep groove. The dentist couldn't tell today which it is. That decision and resulting therapy will happen next month.

It is cold now and drizzly. I told dh I was going to punt on jogging this afternoon. I talked him into going tomorrow morning instead. I am going to go to the gym, though, to work on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I need to do something. Otherwise, I'm going to eat my way through the afternoon.

Dd14's band ensembles are playing rooftop of a decent Italian restaurant downtown. That means the venue is outside. Students are still to report 15 minutes before their performance time, but it is possible ensembles will be cancelled. However, sales from meals at the restaurant will still go to raise $ for the upcoming trip to France. Dh has already said he doesn't want to eat outside, even if the table is covered, in 40 degree weather -- SO, we'll see how this evening unfolds.

I'm going to switch laundry, change my clothes, and head to the gym.

I called the place for the anti virus. She walked me thru safe mode so she could work on it. It has been an hour and just finished. It went right back to where we started with it saying that IE has stopped working. She is suppose to call me back when she is done. I really didn't need this. Well she just called me back. She didn't find a virus. She put Chrome on there so I could use my computer. She suggested I tell Staples what happened and/or call Microsoft. I'm thinking "Really, me call Microsoft?" I am trying to avoid a meltdown.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
I keep trying to do better on paperwork and financial stuff but am continually failing behind. Soooooo today I've been working on organizing paperwork, desk, computers and digtal files. I've separated financial stuff from everything else. Financial paperwork stayed on roll-top desk and big laptop. Everything else has been relocated next to my rocking chair. I've set up separate computers to use in different rooms. Hopefully making this change will stop the insanity and get me on track. SOMETHING HAS TO WORK!

I'm tired today. Cleaned toilets and then read for a while. Supper will be pizza, with me eating less than usual. That doesn't fit with the lowfat diet that I was advised to follow for a few weeks post surgery. So I plan to eat cautiously...but looking forward to it!

We have gone to churches that had the never-ending praise songs with words up on a screen. This time we did not want that. Our church uses hymnals and I love the old hymns we sing...complicated verses and old-fashioned words included. I always look to see who wrote the hymn and the year it was copyrighted. So many I remember completely from childhood. It is nice to sing those again.

I still can't believe it's only Thursday.
