Thursday TOTH and BOTH

Post by Harriet »

LisaB has asked us, "TOTH or BOTH" ? before, so I guess I'm quoting her cheeriness, lol.

Are you often mindful of "where you are" in your chores or Parade of Daily Adventures, according to the clock, or your watch? Do you ever time chores or make a game of seeing how much you can do by a certain TOTH (top) or BOTH (bottom of the hour)?

One significant TOTH is 10:00 a.m., dubbed by Peggy Jones as, "The Crossroads of Order for the Day".

Sometimes I pop my head up at that moment and acknowledge it, taking a look around, like a suspicious prairie-dog making sure the coast is clear!
No procrastination on the horizon?

Oh, I wish I could be at home more right now! Seems like when I am home I don't use it wisely, and some days I'm back and forth like a ping pong ball, which also breaks my (little) concentration. (I think I remember P&P describing running errands as going all over like a ping pong ball, unless one grouped them and did them all in one day?)

I guess it's a good thing that I've kept some flexibility this week, thus am able to be at the work meeting for a while, and to drop things to go to bone scan with dd tomorrow.

I'm meeting rabbi at 8:30 (back to our usual Thursday a.m. meeting) and then need to be at work meeting at 10:30. I'm guessing I'll go straight from temple to this meeting. I need to blow out of the meeting around noon, to get home, change clothes and gather up Macs, and get to the dog PT appointment. I have a "window of opportunity" this afternoon, but am afraid that when I get home today I'll feel like I've already done a decent day's work. Then need to be at a work related thing w dh at 6:30 tonight. Another four-event day. By this time next year I won't be temple President and things will settle down...

I have done most of a.m. routine this morning, only lacking making the bed; may be able to do before I run out of here.

I'm on puppy duty this morning. So far - no accidents. Am I good or what? Pepper is in here playing with Maia, so that is helpful, if a bit noisy and turbulent. . . . .

I missed what happened to dd's foot, Twns. It sounds like it is painful, whatever it is. . Hope it is not a fracture. Ouch! Is she limping around now?

I understand that ping pong ball phenomenon and live it more often than I'd like.

How was the concert, Harriet? I visualized your dd14 elegant in her top and playing so well. It sounds like she is so diligent with her practicing; she must have learned and grown by leaps and bounds!

I'm going to call dfriend, moms group secretary, in about 35 minutes to make a call on the picnic. It is not raining now, but it is gray and forecast is for 40 - 60% chance rain this morning.

We didn't finish cleaning the kitchen last night. That will likely happen after I get back from the picnic, if we decide to have it.

Later today, all 3 kids have dentist appointments at 1:45. I'll maybe go for a jog with dh around 4, if it is not raining. We'll leave here around 6 to go to the restaurant to see dd14's oboe duet + other kids performances. The jazz band will be playing at 7. . . . S and R will join us around 7. Then, dh and I will stop by the memorial for our neighbor afterward. It is expected to be very large and well-attended since he was somewhat of a public figure at the U's hospital. . . R may join us, not sure.

Dh is up. That means I can go s2s.

A slight feeling of normalcy here. I woke at 5:20 and went back to sleep until after 7. It is the birds waking me in the morning but at least I go right back to sleep.

When I did get up, I went and did 22 minutes on the bike.

One of the weight loss/get fit tips for people on the road is to make use of the exercise rooms and pools. NO EXCUSES! For this past trip I took a swim suit and workout clothes and since I needed to bike was thrilled because I've never seen an exercise room without a bike. Well, pool 1 closed at 9:30 (we got in at 9), exercise bike there wouldn't slide the seat into position for me. Next night, pool wasn't open for the season, no exercise room. Next night no pool but exercise room with the same bike we have at home. Yay! Bike was completely broken - the seat lock wouldn't work the electronic buttons looked worn (no problem, I knew what order to push them in) but were in fact broken. Oh, and the multi-gym was also broken and I scraped and bruised myself on an exposed bolt when I sat on it while waiting for laundry. No pool in Nashville but there was an exercise room. I was walking so much I didn't bother. On the way home it was another place with an unopened pool and no exercise room. So much for working out on the road, thankfully I had my yoga mat and ice packs so did my physio but it points out that we really do have to walk during our break points on the drive because exercise rooms can't be counted upon.

So, spent 22 minutes on the bike for the first time in almost 3 weeks.

Now going to have a quick breakfast and head up to s2s. I need to be out of the house in 55 minutes.

For some reason the internet is not working on my computer. Although I can receive email. :o  :? I have paid for a 2 yr. anti virus thru Staples but I realize I have no info on it. Dh couldn't figure it out so told me to call Staples later.

Speaking of dh, I am so irritated at him. Him and his motorcycle buddy had planned to take a trip over Memorial Day weekend. Well the buddies gf insisted on coming to town and going with them. Dh had thought about going to Colorado by himself instead of with them to Oklahoma, but it is suppose to be cool this weekend in Colorado. So he is going to go with them afterall. The idiots want to go to OK City on Friday to spend the night and then onto the Tulsa area on Saturday for a rally. I told dh that it was ridiculous to go to OKC, considering that every hotel will probably be full, with either rescue workers or displaced homeowners. Tulsa hotels will probably be full with rally attendees. Dh hates to go off and not know where he is staying each night. But yet, here he is doing it. I realize he is ready for a trip, but sometimes you just have to change plans. Oh well, it's his own fault if he has a miserable time and no place to stay.

Trying to rev up some energy. Think I'm still couping from all the travels of the last week. Feel better, but not "there" yet. Had dh in to lab for his blood work around 7 this morning, so it was an early day again for both of us.

I finished unpacking our suitcases last night. Not well, but at least I was able to get the suitcases up to the storage unit & out of here. I'm going to have to clean/organize our drawers and closets in order to have room for everything. As usual I brought too much up with us. So may (list first) & pack some things right back in a suitcase. I know I have too many tops with me now. Think I must have taken some things south on hangers last fall because now I don't have enough of those & will have to buy a pack or so.

Cooler out this morning and I'm sure that will be better for dh. This is a big 'camping' weekend so he's trying to help get ready for that. DS-R & DGS8 will be going to South Bend, IN for a WKA racing event. Know dh would like to go, but just can't. DDIL#1 said she'd be out here off and on.

((Lilac))

Been forming my PODA and guess I best get at it, if I'm going to reach those 'crossroads' that Harriet spoke of.

Picnic has been cancelled. Not many women expressed interest in moving the event into the church gym, so it is a complete no-go this year. There are a couple who would like to get together, though. . . .I feel bad for them.

Meanwhile, i have finished the paperwork for dd14's first summer camp, church camp the week after school is out. I'll need to go to post office place to post it. I'm going to finish paying bills - and then get to the a.m. routine.

Dh has enlarged Maia's outdoor enclosure so now we don't have to carry her outside. She is getting challenging to pick up and carry. Besides getting heavier, the whole process is a bit like trying to pick up and hold on to a small moving windmill. . . .

((Twins' Daughter)) I hope it's not too painful.

We did have a lovely evening of music, yes. It was casual, which makes sense for the acoustic guitar, I think. Both teacher-conductors spoke candidly with the audience, and there was a lot of movement onstage as different groups/soloists arrived and left, casually sitting alongside, or with the audience. One of the third-year students dropped music loudly as he moved off-stage, turned, made a sweeping bow, and was applauded for it, lol. There were no signs of nervousness, all seemed comfortable.

Dd's group (8) was first, with their Beatles/Dylan/Sting selections (Blowin' In the Wind, Every Breath You Take, Nowhere Man, Yesterday). Then the 8 beginners with Country Gardens, This Old Man, done very well. Then the Ensemble ( 5 third-year students) with difficult Spanish guitar type pieces, En La Playa, La Bamba, Banana Boat Song, and ending with a departure, Da Blues. Then Ensemble members broke out with solos of contemporary pieces. One boy dedicated "The Girl" to his girlfriend, to a lot of "awwws" from the audience. Another boy's rendition of "Hear You Me" reached a fever pitch, when he stood with the last strum and sailed his metallic red pick over the audience. :o Lots of appreciation from students for that. Then everyone combined onstage, with both teachers conducting alternately, to marathon through Hey Jude, Lean On Me, Let It Be, and Stand By Me.

helia, the ROTC leader was there and complimented dd's group on "taking the stage with presence" and never even rustling their music as they turned it, lol. (Those are the qualities he looks for, lol.) So I do think their group, all in black and white clothing and possibly "just nervous enough" :) , made a good impression.

HRH is leaving from here for a meeting, so this has been an unusual morning. He's only just now showering. Got my ddad's morning started without a hitch. Next up is outdoor chores.

This was my 15 of after-TOTH check-in I guess, sitting with a pint of water. 45 minutes until the Crossroads.

Good Morning!

Kathryn - Your consistent daily exercise effort gets a BWTG from me. Even though things don't work out every day, you consistently keep at it.

DSon travels frequently (2-5 days a week) and does a exercise program that works for him when he is on the road. All he needs is a 4x10' clear spot on the floor. Although he does some other things (runs), the main exercise he does when traveling is burpee. He has transformed his body this year. I've never seen him in better shape. When DS is home, he exercises while wearing a vest that weighs about 50 lbs to up his heart rate. I've tried doing burpees and they most definitely do get my heart rate up.

Today is first day without needing an alarm to get us out the door on time. YES! Yesterday I deactivated four alarms on my phone that normally go off every weekday. FREEDOM! I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Humph! Well, I've accomplished very little. Sat in the recliner to rest a few & immediately dozed off. NOW to the PODA!

Need to do an email first however. Have to update a few people on what is happening with dh this coming week.
