WUNNERFUL WEDNESDAY

I have some blocked gutters also. I keep pulling the pine needles out of the bottom of the downspouts. Since we didn't put the Christmas lights all the way across the house this year, that chore didn't get done.

I'm making progress. All the towels and the rack picked up for the 2nd time. It is windy today and keeps blowing the drying rack over.

Desk is better. All the bills are paid, filing done, and my calendar is filled out with all those test appointments logged. I have a nice calendar on my phone that I might learn how to use once I learn all the other stuff. I did manage to get my voice mail set up, but was unsuccessful twice at using the hold/call waiting feature. The manual wasn't any help. That's one feature I really need.

DWasher is running. I had to reorganize the bulletin board in the hallway, there are so many appointments, instruction sheets on it. I need shirts with buttons down the front and I don't have any except really dressy blouses...not appropriate for medical testing. Not sure what to do about that.

MT I'm very sorry you have to have that procedure. Sunny's DH seems to have done very well with his. Sadie, wishing your DBrother well with whatever he has coming up, too.

Appointment with dd took well over two hours of mostly waiting around. Doc prescribes boot for two weeks and then tennis shoes with inserts for two weeks so camp will not be a problem. She didn't like him much - felt he discounted her foot pain by pressing in the wrong area, then commenting that she didn't come off the table w pain. Anyway, we'll see. She has appt in August for follow up.

I took a good nap when I got back, which essentially means I've hardly done anything today. I napped hard for an hour before the alarm went off. Trying to get going again.

Helia - my procedure will be done in the hospital under twilight sleep. If they just look around I will go home that evening - if they put the stint in, I stay over night. I'm going to get a motel room for DH either way as it will be late when I am dismissed.

DH had 3 stints put in last April and it really helped his energy level. So I'm hoping.

Almost time to start Dh on his prep for tomorrow. Poor guy.

Hello, villagers ~

We had a hard-working group at the library this morning for first day of setting up for Saturday's book sale. We got all the tables out of storage and set up, and unloaded a closet packed floor to ceiling with of boxes of books, sorting as we unpacked. We worked from 9:00 to 2:30 with a short lunch break, so all decided that was enough for the day. Especially after the library director pointed out another big pile of boxes in a different closet that still need to be unpacked and sorted! We're ahead of schedule, they'll wait for tomorrow.

I need to go back up at 5:30 for a special meeting about a capital campaign to enlarge the library. I think the meeting is supposed to be short.

In the meantime, I told DH this morning that I would pull some chili from the freezer for supper. I'd best get that cookin' on the stove so I can eat a little something before the meeting.

DH has had several stents too, MT (10 in all). Just as she said -they do a heart angiogram & then if a stent is needed to open up a vein, that's normally done the same day. A stent is a small mesh cylinder that is put in (usually through the groin, but occasionally from the arm) and then it's expanded once it's in place. Think of one of those old 'Chinese finger things' that grew tighter if you pulled on it. Maybe I'm dating myself. They often can do stents instead of by-pass. Dh's veins/arteries collapse, not because of plaque/high cholesterol, but because of damage caused by radiation when he had cancer (Hodgkins Disease) a lot of years ago. I, on the other hand, had 5 by-passes 19 years ago because of blockage. Hopefully this surgery will eliminate the need for any more stents -at least for a time. But they will initially be replacing his aortic valve. Is all this clear as mud, Helia?

Expect you to have more energy too, MT. Obviously dh's aortic valve is nearly closed and so doesn't get the blood flow he needs -but he keeps going anyway. Like the e n ergizer bunny. But when he comes in -he collapses. Only a few more hours and he will be where he can be helped! He's anxious for it.

Speaking of mud, a lot (actually composted leaves) came out of the gutters. Ds did a great job. I spotted the ladder for him when he had to use the extension ladder, the other two were step ladder. That took about an hour (but included trimming back branches over that part of the roof) and then I spent another hour or more on the garage and shed, putting out a few more things and tidying up. Each time I work around, I try to fully 'see' things and find things to toss. So filled up a garbage can with junk from the shed that isn't worth even giving away.

Came in and cleaned myself up. I had never dried/styled my hair today so with the humidity, I had a scary, 'wild' look going. Hair has been straightened, took a rest/nap to deal with headache and have taken an allergy pill and had lots of water to rehydrate myself. Not all in that order.

Ds is heating up the leftovers for our dinner so need to go and cut bread for him.

Frustrated. I bought heavy plastic planters for front porch for red geraniums, but they don't have a drainage hole. Thought it would be easy to add holes, either by punching it out with a nail or drilling, but I couldn't find a suitable drill bit. This was after a long search for the drill itself out in the garage wasteland.

And I had ordered a wooden armchair to join the front porch bench, but it's too hard to put together. The holes for the screws aren't drilled out far enough, and I don't have the strength to continue to tighten it down. Again, no drill bit that would help, apparently.

One of those afternoons that nothing seems to be working right!

MT and I are getting to be 'old hands' at all this I think. Perhaps there's others of you as well. I stopped counting how many angiograms dh has had a long time ago.

Sitting at home with no power. Storm came through and a large area is without power. No damage here that I can see.

OKay I used to dust when the power was out. And hand sweep the kitchen floor. Folding laundry, tidying drawers, general tidying are other possibilities.

I'm going to tidy my kitchen now. Dinner was good, but I'm still hungry so need to get out of the kitchen.
