I'm having another at-home day to prepare for action the rest of the week. Apron Day, yay!
Sewing group board meeting tomorrow night. Nothing on the agenda is controversial and we have 2 fun projects to plan, so it should be a good meeting.
Wednesday I will need to shop for Saturday's family reunion picnic.
Before yesterday, everyone was saying they were only going to be there for the picnic and not camp all weekend, so we did not bother to start getting any gear ready. Today I'm hearing that there might be a couple of campers after all.
DH and I use a sleeping tent and a screened kitchen tent, and DH said he does not want to camp if it's going to rain. Right now the forecast is saying 20-30% chance of rain, but of course that may change before Friday.
I am going to plan meals and shop as if we are camping. I always plan tried-and-true easy DH-favorite meals to cook on the camp stove, since we never know if we're going to be able to have a decent fire for cooking. I'm also a little squeamish about food prep in a campsite. I do as much of the kitchen work at home as possible. If we end up not camping, no big deal. I'll start making extra ice on Wednesday, we'll need it whether we camp or not.
The only thing "extra" that I'll buy is a case of bottled water. I don't bother with it at home, because we have a Brita filter pitcher and I'd rather use a refillable mug. However, I don't trust the water in the park -- especially these days with flash flood problems all over the state. I'd rather haul my own water for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes.
All of our gear has been stored in the basement for a couple of years. I will need to pull up my packing list and see what needs to be cleaned. I'll start with the stuff that we will want to take even if we're only going for the day, so it will not be wasted effort. I know the big cooler needs a thorough scrubbing and disinfecting.
I'm getting the laundry caught up today. I thought I knew what I wanted to wear to the reunion picnic, but that outfit may change if we end up camping.
Hi, Emptynester! I'm glad you're having such a good time after your angst.
