(((Kathryn)))) one step at a time.

Twins - I gave up on this touchpad. It just frustrated me. I ordered a wireless mouse and haven't looked back.

I've gradually migrated everything over to dropbox. It is just too easy and has never failed me. I have digital files from the past 20 years stored there. Once I found out dropbox is on Amazon servers, my trust factor went up. I like being able to access ANY file ANY time ANY where. It has been extremely handy a couple of times to be able to look at information stored on dropbox from smartphone.

Funeral was well attended. He was the sixth generation in his ranching family so the friend base was large as well as having large family. About 150 family members.

We walked across the parking lot with a local real estate guy. I looked at him and then turned to DH and half way joking said "Yup! He looks like a future MPB owner". Real estate fella immediately jumped on my off the wall comment and started grilling DH how much. We stopped talking once we entered the church. I was just tossing the bait out and seeing if he would bite...... Now the ball is in his court. If he is really interested then he will hunt DH down to continue the conversation.

Okay: Good job baiting the hook!

Still shaking here. And paralyzed except I plugged in my external keyboard to charge it and will move my computer to my desk once it is recharged (it died while I was away.) I've been working from the kitchen table since returning home. It is time I cleared that off.

I know exactly how my dh felt during tax season when I walked in and started complaining or griping, because that's what he's doing right now. I ended up on a long temple phone call and he walked in complaining about the recycling outside the garage. When he asked if it could come back into the garage overnight, I explained that one of our cars would have to park outside the garage. Other people put their recycling at the street the night before, so I think I'm okay leaving it there until the morning. Also other complaints and issues - he's become super paranoid about leaving anything in the car and he is making me crazy.

Dh went back out to a funeral visitation that he apparently didn't know about - the father of a federation employee - so he needed to go. I was surprised when he came in because I thought he would go directly there, and it didn't start until 7 p.m.

I got the yard scooped, dishwasher unloaded, did some reading on printer set up, ordered Office 2010 from Amazon (decided I'm having enough trouble w Windows 8 learning curve so sticking w Office 2010) with a coupon for $20 off, and ordered a new insurance card and printed a temporary one. Earlier I had only printed the prescription card. Considering that we're heading out on a trip, I'd like to have the current info available.

 Dh just called because he went to the wrong funeral home, and I explained where this one is. He was trying to ask me directions and I suggested his phone could probably help him out. Poor guy. I don't know why he didn't read the original email...

I am running into obstacles trying to work w/o being able to scan, and w/o Office and Excel.

OKay, I use Dropbox for Excel and Word files but use Evernote for most other documents. I can make a note by typing it in, taking a photo, emailing it in, "clipping" an online article, photo or quote or loading it through a import folder. I like that I can search it to find what I need also. For dmom and dsis, I have a permanent folder set up with info that carries forward, otherwise I have a notebook for each year. Like Dropbox, I can access notes while I'm away, or at dmom's dr visit, or look up info when in a meeting.

Wow, 7 p.m. here. I need to walk the ddogs and wind down a bit.

Still shaking here.

Also 7 p.m. and dh has just started cooking.

We are busy updating the floor plan for our current home. When we did the renovation in 1993, we used 3D Home Architect to draw up the plans. The software stopped working long ago but we still had a printout which we keep copying for things (the energy audit, flooring quotes, etc.) But we made a couple of changes during construction (couldn't put in a fireplace and added a door between the foyer and laundry room) so dh is adding those now by hand and I'll make a copy for the real estate agent tomorrow.

I've made up a list of when we had the floors put in, the roof put on, new furnace and generator.

I'm also dealing with papers one at a time trying to tidy up the kitchen. I'd do a stash and dash but the basement is just one big disaster area so really, there will be no hiding things and I don't want anything to get lost. We are coming into Fiscal year-end for the business and tax season for us.

((Kathryn))

Waving to Harmony.

Sadie you should have gotten a card!!!!!

Will write more... just back from hospita

Something just told me to go to hospital at the 5:00 visiting hour. Long trip, so interesting that I decided to jump in and do it. Dd and I had had to stop and take a test drive to satisfy her Daddy (sigh - salepeople, my goodness). And then he called us while we were there to say tax folks called and I MUST go by their office. Seems the income taxes for a deceased person can no longer be filed by e-filing? I suppose Twins' Mom knows about this - actually they did not, as they have done it that way many times in the past. But this time it was rejected. So I signed and it will all be fine.

Subway sandwiches and just told dd I couldn't stand it and would she go with me to hospital. So we started a 45 min drive at that point. As we arrived, Joe was being moved to the Post ICU, so yay, a step forward. Back home and call, call, call to let family know, round and round. So tired. Throat hurts from talking.

Hello, I came home earlier than I usually do. DH was sore and hurting and wanting to sleep. I knew if I left he would turn off TV and go to sleep easier. New roommate tonight and all that will be going on in the room will no doubt keep him up. Not the best timing.

Nancy, did you get caught up with your cards? I saw your remark the other night.

Kathryn, posting my happenings is as much for me as for you all! It is a good way to process the day and relax. It's too bad you have to go through selling your house when you thought you had that all covered. But the extra money will make it worthwhile, don't you think?

Harriet, have you seen the store (somewhere I don't remember where, but it was on the news) selling nothing but outdated foods. I didn't understand how they could really do that legally. Hmmm, probiotics, would acidophiles work? I already have some of that. Glad Joe is making a little positive progress.

Sadie, I'm sorry you had that experience with the cards. I felt sorta self-centered even posting about that. My friend and I were talking about how many cards we send out, etc., and our leader gives us names of people to send to, and sometimes they aren't even nearby or people we know. Our ministry is supposed to be a support to our church family; the outreach things we do in our community is done by other groups. Recently, we've been doing more outside our church group than inside. I'm not sure I understand what's going on.

One lady from our small group came today to visit, one fellow from our group called and texted, and one couple from our group sent a card. So that was very nice. It's just the committee I'm involved with that I don't understand. I'm going to keep my mouth shut about it.

There is much I should be doing around here. My ankles and feet swelled a bit from all the sitting with my feet down and even sleeping overnight they didn't get better like they usually do. So, I probably should just chill with my feet up!
