:D Good Evening, Ladies! :D

I wrote 3 letters, put away LOL, set my dawn simulator, and am on my way to get out a. m. clothes. Did my afternoon routine, need to hang up a cardigan, and want to read my e-book on balancing the work - life balance. It sounded like a good book.

It's near 90* here. I need to plan out tomorrow's to do items, and get ready for dgs's visit on Sunday, 9-3-14 through Saturday, 9-9-14. It'll be our last grandson visit this summer. :( It's gone so fast. It's so surprising tomorrow's the first day of August already. It's nearly Labor Day and then time for Autumn fires in the insert. :!: Maybe we'll get an Indian Summer this year. :?: That would be so nice. It seems like Autumn arrived early last year.

Need to do my SHE-Fly cards yet. I have the a.m. routine, the p.m. routine and a conga chore list done. I've got the writer's routine cards done, but need to change a lot of 4 x 6" index card pages in my little folder. I have it full of so many inspirational items. I want to add Dr. numbers, phone #'s, a few addresses, emergency #'s, etc... Am highly considering, too, about taking the white index cards, writing down chores, per zone/area, to keep on track with, too. I'll continue to keep my "lay-low" card, which is a prompt of baby-stepping my day through a high pain day or day of illness. I need that card to stay in there. It sure helps when everything around me seems to be falling apart because I'M falling apart physically. :!: I'll go by Flylady's site and CEO's SHE site, to combine the 2 together. I like the idea of cards, but also like the idea of the Control Journal and by my having my routines- both SHE AND Fly- in the same control journal folder, I feel like I've got the best of both worlds. :P I can put the folder inside my purse, whereas you cannot do that with a larger binder or box of 3 x 5 cards. :( It's fun to be getting organized and to put both programs together. I found my recipe box, on the tippy-top shelf of my kitchen cabinet, high above supplements and medications. Now that I know where it is, I'll keep browsing through it, finding good old recipes I used to make, especially ones passed down my Dmil and given to me by pen pals or Dsis. It was a joy to find it. I'm so excited.

I don't understand why I feel so relaxed this evening. :?: I guess that's a good thing. The day's run smoothly for me/us. It was so nice to get a new shorter bob, then go to Joann's for yarn and buy a new tote, too. :D And letter-writing's been going smoothly, the house is cool inside, DH has been watching baseball and when it's on, it's always relaxing to hear the announcer and play-by-play man talking back and forth to each other/to viewers. I hope we'll win tonight; last night we lost. :( :( It's time to run and plan dinner, get out a.m. clothes, plan the weekend out, and think up fun things for Dgs to do with his Dgpa. I told DH I think our dgs would love going to the high-tech garbage dump. (I don't think DH wants to do the work to GO.) He said, "I'm not so SURE about that." :!: I hope they'll be able to remove things/clutter from the garage to take. It really needs to be done, we've been procrastinating on "some" things, since fall of 2004, when we moved in with a LOT of Dmil's stuff, as she passed away in 2002. It would only be a dent, but since only about 3-feet on one side of the garage, houses these items, it'll be a big dent. The other side has the generator, desk, shelves, the tractor-mower, the trailer to it, etc... It's just that..... oh, how do I SAY this???? DH is coming close to hitting something, when he backs out and drives into the garage. I felt with fewer things on that side, it'd eliminate the possibility of running into something, plus it'll be tidier, too. But you know men: If you ask them to do something a 2nd time- you're 'nagging'. Why are men that way? I can't figure it out. Then, when they say, "But I already told you that, this morning." :?:  He speaks softly.

No time to really post or cuop right now... but I did post in J&C that things are going well w/the Smothers Brothers here... ;) (Aren't they the ones that had a running thing about "mom always liked you best"?)

All is well so far -- no decisions made today, just info from the antique lady.

Now to type this up in some organized fashion...

A wild day.

We lost water and as of now, HRH has temporarily fixed it so that we do have water back. The repairman comes tomorrow.

Had to drive such a long while to pick dd up. She and friend nagged and we ended up taking friend for tonight.

Happy mini-party for my green-eyed-boy now 3 years old! Enjoyed a long conversation with ddil, but noticed that it was only about the most positive things. That's okay - at least she does enjoy talking with me. Dd's friend had also brought a gift so that was nice. They stayed a couple hours and it was lots of fun.

And then... ... a very brave teen boy came to call on dd. One of those unreal moments when you wonder if gravity works anymore, since the laws of the universe must be off-kilter. The meeting between HRH and the young man in the middle of the LR was electrically, Wild-Kingdom-like tense. Whoa. However, everyone is still alive. We allowed him to stay to supper. He's got nerve, I'll give him that.

lucylee, giving a gift of one of CEO's books is a possibility. Houseworks and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Organized. I'd be so tempted to give Sidetracked Home Executives, though.

I'm pooped too!
We spent 4 hours at dmil's house w/the antique lady... then it took me approx. 2 hours to type it all up, believe it or not. Of course, I was interrupted several times to look at dinosaurs and various other things... but mostly, I left dgs to his own devices and typed and typed and typed. Using Excel was so neat though! First time I've ever actually used it to do the math -- and it was wonderful. I have a 6 page list w/room by room items, listed in order of most expensive to least expensive, w/subtotals for each room.
I have NOT done ANY of the dishes, silverware, or cookware. Antique lady told me to go through and count place settings, etc. and get back to her.
Also, there are probably LOTS of little knick-knacks that were not accounted for, but at least she gave us a general idea of so many things that we can now manage to "price" the rest of the stuff.
So glad to get at least this much done.

Cleaning out that house is going to be unreal... but we all agreed we just have to take it room by room, maybe one room a day, till we get it done. We only have two Saturdays when I know we're all going to be available, and dbil is VERY concerned that no one does ANYTHING w/out EVERYONE present -- I mean, he wouldn't care if one of the grandchildren had to miss, b/c his most likely will miss every time -- but he is "by the book" about him and dh being present for all decisions... NOTHING will be thrown out or carried out without everyone knowing. He's not saying this in a pointed way at dh -- I think he's trying to stress to all of us that HE isn't starting anything on his own. He said he's seen too many family fights over this with his work.

There are two really major sets of furniture -- a dining room set that is over 70 years old, and a bedroom set that is over 100 years old, and both have been in dh's family all this time. I think it will work out well for us to get one or the other -- but either way, since dbil has no place to put his choice, I think ds/ddil will have the use of it until dniece has a home of her own. After those items, I don't think dbil will put up a huge fight for anything. He may surprise me, but nothing else is extremely valuable in itself. DH would probably prefer the bedroom set b/c it belonged to his great-grandfather. Hmmm... looking at the price list... that bedroom set is worth about twice as much as the dining room... and I think ddil wants the dining room set -- but I hope ds lobbies for the bedroom. ;)

I need to go to bed. I have rewarded myself for all this hard work w/waaay too much food tonight.
