Kathryn ~ Check out shapewear at
http://catherines.lanebryant.com

The site claims they will ship to Canada -- although I'm not sure the style you're looking for will come in a size small enough for you if you're looking for only 1 X. The stores tend to focus more on the larger sizes 3X to 6X.

Hi again! I have fielded a question from my boss for a meeting this afternoon. He is doing a demo that will include some of my reports. I have also consolidated my lists into one for tonight and one for pending. I called about a potentially lost reimbursement check. The bank doesn't show a deposit in the relevant time period and I don't remember getting it. However, it is possible that I combined that check with another deposit that has not cleared yet. However, I have not made a paper check deposit in a while.

I'd rather look old than wear a thong. For that matter, I would rather look old and overweight than wear shapewear. Hades will freeze before I sacrifice comfort. I don't even like the feel of makeup.

Clothing - I'm the type with the tummy, more than the hips, so I fancy that tunic length is not so bad for me. Not Maude-length tunic - hip-length tunic, maybe 30 inches. I also fancy that the waist height of the bottoms, whether jeans or slacks, is not common knowledge. These fancies may be flights, or a jump to conclusions, but I hope they are grounded.

Comfort - I had one experience with shapewear that ended my brief relationship with it. An early September invitation turned out to be a lawn event rather than indoors as expected, and the day's temps got hotter than expected as well, without a cloud. I began to feel, for the first time in my life, a multi-drip of sweat down my mid-back following the channel of my backbone. I don't think the expression on my face was very pretty that day, so if my waist was slimmer it was still not a win. When I also developed some digestive distress later, I blamed that (right or wrong) on the experience of having a rain-forest boa constrictor inside my dress.

thank you d lucy... yes dd younger is very positive. She tries to move forward, not at first - maybe the first couple hours frustrate her but then she turns it around to see what she can do next. I love her energy

LOVE Harriet's description of shape wear! I have never tried any of it myself, although I could certainly use some slimming and shaping. Tummy. Hips, thighs... All too much. Always wear my tops untucked also, just normal length, but I also figure if the waistband doesn't show, then who cares if I am wearing "mom jeans"?
Skinny jeans? I cannot imagine myself EVER wanting to wear skinny jeans. Nope, no way.

This certainly seems to be a long drive. No fussing or anything -- just quiet.

I had a successful out, well within my budget.

First stop was Sears for shapewear (they had a buy 2 get 30% off.) I suspect women the world over would pay money to watch a magician escape from shapewear while suspended upside down over a shark tank (much more difficult than getting out of a straight jacket) but once I was in it, it was comfortable. I brought a flimsy dress of mine to wear over it and walked around the store floor a bit before deciding for sure. Not convinced it drops me a size so I'll try it tonight with my sari and my other formal dress.

Then it was 3 bras (have gone from 36B to 38C or 40C depending on the brand) and am looking forward to wearing those. I have on my 36B convertible bra today and there's no getting around it, it is not comfortable. Another things about dressing thinner was to make sure the girls were in the right position and the new bras will help greatly with that. I had an excellent clerk helping me with that.

Finally, I tried on bathing suits and picked up two separates. Will shop for more tops at a cheaper store but in the meantime, I have a pretty bathing suit that fits well.

Walked around the whole mall, next and found nothing until the last store. Hit pay dirt. A nice blazer, a nice top and two pairs of shaper trousers. They are ordered in especially, so will be here in a week or so. Bought navy and black. They fit fabulously. The ladies in the store were my size and wore their store merchandise so you could see how it looked on real people. I'll be back to buy more once I figure out what more I need.
