Hello Dear Ladies,

Cold here. The roads are clear at least, although they keep forecasting more snow and ice for us.

Checked off half of my things I had planned to do.

It seems hard to get out of bed on these cold mornings and then it is hard to move around too so I'm a bit slow.

Kathryn, don't know if you still have the fungus problem on your foot but soaking in corn meal and warm water for 15 minutes a day will clear up fungus. Dmom did this and then I told a co-worker about it and it worked for her too.

Worked on DH's papers for awhile too for taxes. Tis the season.

Going to read for awhile and then head out to work.

great day to all!

((Elizabeth)) Do you think stress has caused weight loss and migraines? I hope you feel better.

((Twins' Mom)) I hope your headache eases today.

Sadie and Kathryn, noticing Sadie's suggestion, I found The People's Pharmacy discussion on that remedy. How 'bout that.

Our road was worse than expected. Fine at that moment in which the temperature was allowing melting, but as we freeze again now, it will be right back to hazardous. No matter what the school system decides, I'm sure we won't try our road again until the weekend, and I'm a little worried about the 8:30 a.m. practice Sunday.

Generally main roads are pretty good but a big wreck just one intersection away from one of our stops was very sobering, as we waited on a bunch of emergency vehicles. We managed the most important errands, then just picked up the closest substitutes for our grocery needs in the pharmacy's aisles and headed home to get back in our road before freezing. We can live with odd brand names for a few days.

We did manage to get the mail after a few amusing attempts. I'm glad, too, because HRH was paid for some work he'd done three weeks ago. Now he will be in a better mood for the next few shut-in days, able to put that in the "finished" column in his mind, without wondering.

Went to the bagel shop with dh and we hit the grocery store on the way home. It was so cold on the way there (actually, it was just that we saw 14*F and didn't dress warmly enough because that was so much better than -14*F) we decided to hit the more expensive store, which had my cereal on at my US$ price point, a price seldom seen here in Canada. So I bought up all but 2 boxes (it is a small store so they only had 7 boxes.) Dh forgot the extra bag so getting things home was a bit awkward but we managed.

Now I'm listening to my new CD - Karajan's Beethoven recordings. Currently I'm playing the 5th. Dh says it is too fast and it is faster than a lot of recordings but apparently Karajan approaches Beethoven with much energy. My only problem with it is the piece is over too soon.

Waving to Kathryn. Hope the weather is more settled by the time you get down here. I know - west coast is where you are headed, but looking at this thing moving there is a lot of weather happening from the cat 4 cyclone in the north, Our smaller one coming down to affect Qld, and wild weather right across the south and inland.

I have memories of an easter cyclone coming all the way down to NE - NSW in the early 70s. It wasn't that vicious, but these things have no promises of behavour.

I have not slept last night. Perhaps I need try breakfast and try to sleep again.

:D Good Afternoon, Ladies! :D

Dee , Your trip sounds A-W-E-S-O-M-E! :!: 8-) :P Good luck, on your preparations, before you head out, too.

 I'm having right hip problems today, I have a story to log, I'm doing it in baby steps and oh, my. :x The program didn't care for my DD's name, I tried to change it, by hitting "Ignore," so I could retain my DD's name. But the program wouldn't accept it. I clicked on a name, which was cute, and they offered it, among the choices. I have accidentally written my original name twice, and finally had to write her NEW NAME in 1-inch letters on a post-it note, beside my laptop! :!:   This has never happened to me before, in the 10 years I've been writing.

Also, I turned on a different local radio station. It was a poetry reading. I found myself listening to this wonderful descriptive poetry, as I'm keying in my story, which is "challenging." After she stopped reading poetry, they went to some sort of slow music, which is sort of like a cross between jazz and New Age stuff. Different. But I'm about to get my George Winston cassette tape out, of "December," with my cool head phones, to listen to his wonderful piano music at my laptop.

I'll CUOP quickly and then go walk for 10 minutes again. I did stretching, and yesterday I walked 6 times x 10 minutes to = 1 hour. I certainly sleep sound! :)

It's cooler here today, grey, and the house was cold when we got up. I cannot seem to warm up. I'm about ready to get my bulky knit cardigan and leg warmers on. If I still can't warm up, I've got some wrist warmers I made. It was a dishcloth pattern, but I crocheted it in off-white acrylic yarn, fitted it to my wrists, sewed them closed, with a cuff. They're the pretties things! Very useful, too. (I'm glad I'm NOT in Boston today!)

Have a great afternoon, Everyone! :D
TTFN.... ;)

Well weird weather must be everywhere, but my complaint is different from y'all. Our day time temps are running 10-15 degrees above normal stealing what little winter that I get. We have had several days of 85* weather and the plants and snakes are terribly confused. My grass in the back yard is green and growing so fast Sweetie has had to mow it. Both of us have commented that we've never seen that happen this early in the year.

My plants and trees are flowering .. Very unusual as this doesn't usually happen until mid-March.

I have been sick with the stomach flu since Sat but think I'm on the mend. Been told by friends that it's going around.. It's a nasty bug. Could only eat saltines and toasted bread for four days and only drank "real" coke. Usually with stomach issues I can drink hot tea, but for some reason that didn't work. Think I drank more real coke in four days than I have in the past three years combined. Think I had around 8. Thankfully I had them in my pantry from my party from last year.

Lucylee... When I'm working I clean starting on my left side as I stand in the doorway and work from left to right around the room. Learned to do that from the P&P sisters.

Off to catch up on some laundry. Just got back from Wally world cause my pantry was pretty bare. Waving to y'all. Stay warm and safe.

Lynlee I'm flying in from Dubai so won't be affected by any east coast storms. Should be fine. I'm a little worried I haven't left enough time if we get hit with a storm here. I have 2 days extra to get to the ship so should be ok but if Emirates lets me down for whatever reason, we lose half the cruise (we are at sea for 8 days and I don't think there's a commercial airport at our first landfall, so we wouldn't catch up until Madagascar, half way into the cruise.

Hopefully March won't come in like a lion. Normally a tough February means an easy March but last year no 'normally' patterns held so I'm not hoping for this year. I keep thinking about the fact that I wore my winter coat into May last year and wonder how bad it will be when I get home in April this year!

My new binoculars arrived yesterday and are double vision. I've contacted the manufacturer and they asked for my receipt and address. I'd rather just return them to Amazon Canada (it would be quicker) than deal with them being shipped to me from the US (customs get involved.) But I don't know what they plan to do. I contacted them in the first place because I wondered if there was an adjustment we were missing, not because I wanted warranty service.

Back from payroll. Checked emails. Didn't get everything done before I left. . . I'm eating some popcorn for a snack.

RR, it's really interesting to hear about your weather and plants. I've seen maps of the USA with areas with below average temps and above average temps marked (for last year it was, I think), and I remember seeing your area being above. I think dh's family in Europe is having a mild winter. Last winter was also really mild for them. It is encouraging to know not everybody is experiencing this Arctic blast.

((Lynlee)) for a cyclone. Stay safe!!
Your trip sounds fabulous, Kathryn!

I don't know whether to scream or laugh uncontrollably. Remember how dh flew out right before we got that big snowstorm that dumped about 14" of snow Jan. 31/Feb. 1? Well, we're about to repeat that scenario. Dh is flying out Saturday afternoon, and we're forecast to get 6 - 11" Saturday evening - Sunday morning.

Next:
- update laundry
- finish unloading the dw; top rack is done
- go buy small gift for R

Kathryn - I'm glad you aren't 'cruising' in. The wet season has just begun here, last year was much dryer.
Mind you - I'm not that familiar with WA /perth weather, though I'd have expected winter wet seasons. They were in drought for many years, but that changed in recent years. I think you need to just hope the weather settles down world wide, as it seems connected all around. The butterfly in the Amazon and all that. Here's hoping the N America and the Indian Ocean weather calms down for you so you can have a clear journey to meet the cruise and plain sailing then.

Dog has been out, picked persimmons and a mango I could reach.
I need think of a simple breakfast.
