I only slept a couple hours last night, so napped this afternoon. Not sure why that happened. We did go to church, shared the car but as usual I sat out there 45 minutes waiting for DH. I swear I'm not doing that again.

Actually, it was communion Sunday and he stayed behind to help clean up the church. Last month I had offered because there were only 2 ladies doing all the work. But the one I spoke to said "oh, you are a dear to offer, no please you've done your time, go on home we can manage". I offered twice... then I thought ok, if that's the way it is then you handle it all by yourself. I think if anyone else had been there they'd have been glad for the help. I told DH he doesn't have to stay and help any more.

House is not in bad shape. I did work at my desk last evening and just finished up with that, so a good start to the week. Last DA tonight and that's my only plan for the rest of the night.

DH went to a small group meeting, but I don't know these people and nobody spoke to me to invite me...though it's a couple's meeting. I don't know if I'll join in or not. I was actually happy to take a break from groups for a while.

Oops this sat here for a while.

Early morning was relatively efficient. Church was fine, but with the usual nervousness when I have to sing. Dd begged for a Tarjay run after church as she was out of some things. While there she took a photo of me and spontaneously sent to ds29, who showed it to my green-eyed boy3, who insisted on coming to see Grandma. So barely got lunch, did not change clothes and they were here.

Enjoying visit with them - lots to talk about - when HRH's friend arrived (pouty face) . So this signals several evenings of hours at a time visits. I'd only just heard that he was coming back. Even ds commented, "wasn't he just here?" We're supposed to be happy because he brings things, but it's all tech stuff, nothing anyone but HRH understands.

A little more visiting and it was time for dd's youth group. So ds and dgs took her there as they left. I felt sad about them all leaving at the same time when we'd had such a short visit. Somehow completely forgot I could have headed back to the church for our meal and study. Sigh. Oh well, we could drop back by after her youth group. One person asked at church if I was going to be there - he was supposed to give me something and had forgotten.

I suppose I was being anti-social. Came in the office and got the art, craft and needlework thread up. Anyway, HRH popped in and said they were going out. So at least I got out into my house and got the dailies done!

My cousin arrives mid-week for some meetings I'm supposed to attend as well. I got a letter-sized plastic file folder prepared with the paperwork for which I might be asked.

That means I need my house spiffed. I'd like to visit my colorist - maybe Monday or Tuesday evening.

Heard rumors at church that the lady who was going to co-teach Tuesday might be absent with noro-virus so I must make time to look over her section she was going to cover as well.

lucylee, IF (and of course a big if) the project was not so personal, but mostly the adjectives (I think?) that you were planning, tell us about making it in arts, crafts and needlework thread, and if a photo is okay, we'd love to see.

Dd called early and I picked her up and got back in time for... ... the most unpleasant study ever. Not so much boring as made long by differing opinions that were just tedious. It got into politics, even and I was rolling my eyes (I was sitting on a stairstep at the rear corner of the hall - I didn't offend).

There was food there, and HRH brought food back here, and the day was social enough that I ate too much.

Hope your legs feel better, Kathryn. Is it just pure muscle soreness? Oh, Never mind - I read the answer to that.

I remembered a third calendar item this week is the high school women's get-together. Eh. I struggle to keep up interest in that. At one point they mentioned a murder mystery night (like a mini-drama) which would be somewhat interesting, but we wouldn't know which get-together it would be. I guess I can just be the one who doesn't show up and gets talked about. So what.

Good for your dh for trying to keep a computer sabbath, Kathryn. Dh here theoretically tries to take a Sabbath from the computer from Saturday night until Sunday at 5 pm. In reality, it is very hard for him to do. He sometimes succeeds at Sunday afternoon sabbaths. Today was not one of those days. He also works while on vacation, even making phone calls and checking email while in line at Disney World last year.
I love the goal setting you're doing with LO, LadyM. I should do that with myself.
((Dee)) You do seem to be working diligently. Does dd know yet?
Congratulations to dgd13, Sunny! The bagpipes - now that is an unusual instrument! I bet it is expensive too.

Thanks for the kind words for dd16. They did do well at the music festival! I really love going to their concerts, and I will surely miss them when dd16 graduates. . . But the music they played was the most spectacular part. They played pieces that are typically played by University ensembles, like Lincolnshire Posy - and I can't remember the other pieces. And they did a really nice job playing them. I've now heard this is the best symphony band this school has had for maybe 20 years. So nice dd16 can be a part of it! Some of their star performers are graduating this year, but there are still a lot of strong musicians who are Jrs. We'll see if the band will be as strong next year.

Dh is off to a church meeting this evening. We ate at S and R's tonight, and we ate early since dh's meeting started at 7 pm. I did call my parents this afternoon. I guess they just got 8 inches of snow. I now need to buckle down and get to work preparing for class tomorrow, posting my weekly grades, and editing 2 writing samples from my tutee R for our tutoring session tomorrow a.m. I'm also working on laundry so everyone here has clean clothes to wear tomorrow. I'm woefully behind; laundry didn't end up happening yesterday. Dfriend R and his dmil, who is here to help with baby J while S is in Guyana with the students, ate at our house yesterday evening, so I didn't end up with much of an evening for working.

I have a pretty full week coming up, a meeting every morning and payroll every afternoon. My Hebrew class is cancelled due to the big U's spring break this week. "Spring" break. . . ha ha!! And this is an off week for my mentee meetings, so that helps too.

A cold sabbath snow day with two young children means I didn't get much accomplished. I stayed busy but even the simplest of things takes longer with my helpers.

The snow has turned to mush and is not good to play in. I took LO & DGD3 to BK about 10 miles away so they could run some energy off in the indoor playground.

While watching the kids play, I had an interesting visit with a parent (S) that had brought her child to play. S's daughter & DGD3 are almost the same age (just a couple months difference). S is a teacher at LO school but we never visited one-on-one with each other. Tonight S shared about how they adopted their 3 year old and it was am amazing to hear. Short version - S saw a young girl with a baby walking on the side of the road and picked them up. The girl was arrested and left her baby with S.. S became the baby's foster parent while the Mother was given chance after chance to get her act together. Fast forward 2 years....the state was preparing to remove parental rights from the mother when she asked S if she would do an open adoption. S agreed to it and so the mother signed away her parental rights. The biological mother sees the girl 4 times a year now. Small world - this child that was adopted by S is the biological niece of our pastor. The same pastor who is raising 5 adopted children. Life is full of surprises.

The kids are freshly bathed and in their PJ's. I gave them a few extra minutes to play before bed, but now it is past time to do final bedtime routine.

Helia: you misunderstood. It is John Bell that takes a computer Sabbath (and also doesn't own a cell phone, camera, or car!) Dh never takes a Sabbath.

Lately his excuse is that in NZ, Sunday at 3 is Monday morning and his emails start pinging moments after 3. Before we left the retirement home at 3:20, he checked his email so he could ponder while driving any problems that were raised.

I decided not to walk at all but give my legs a full rest. I iced and elevated my knees after dinner. Then watched a movie all evening so ended up not doing anything except cleaning up the kitchen and starting the dishwasher.

Off to bed now, tomorrow is another day.

I did decline dd's suggestion that I take her up to the ski hill this week. No time for that.

(((Harmony))), your church troubles sound somewhat like ds & ddil's... people not inviting you to join their group or including you in things. That is sooo much ds/ddil's complaint. I fear our church has just become too "clique-ish" -- especially in that age group, b/c so many are so involved in the contemporary service, that the few who are not are just kinda on the outside looking in.

(((Harriet))) for the unexpected guest. Bless your heart! I can certainly understand your aggravation.

Oh -- btw -- I gave a very detailed description of the rock project in the creative thread. * WOW * Me -- crafty/creative?
I also have questions re: using scarves, for my next project.

Went out to eat tonight w/ds & dgs -- ddil was feeling kinda puny, so we got carry-out for her.

Time to watch tonight's Downton Abbey. I cannot believe it's already the end of the season. And next year will be the FINAL season. I can't believe how attached I got to that program, after not even watching it for the first couple of seasons. However, I dread tonight's episode, b/c I expect a cliff-hanger that is going to leave me very anxious re: Anna's situation and it is going to be a long long time till next January!

lucylee, I started watching Downton Abbey at the beginning of season 4 (2014) and quickly became hooked. When the season was over I watched the first 3 seasons on my then new Kindle Fire HD. It seems like a short season to have only 9 episodes. I was happy that they didn't really leave a big cliff hanger this season and I agree, it is a long time until season 6.

Ooohhh -- it ended good! So happy. But so sad the season is so short!
