So tired.

Did a house blessing. Dusting (except office) was done on Monday but I still had to vacuum everywhere, wash the salt boot prints off the hardwood floor and wash the kitchen and bathroom floors. Also did a load of laundry.

Once that was all done, dh and I walked over to the men's wear store across from the grocery store to get him shoes. They didn't have what he wanted so we walked to the other end of the main street and got some really nice shoes there. He says they are really comfortable and I find they look sexy on him. Have thought that way about a shoe on a man before. Must be hormones.

Bought the shoes, and I nearly bought a wallet and purse but dh got me out of there in time. (The wallet has a music keyboard and treble clef pattern.)

We went to the grocery store and got my lunch fixings for tomorrow, a card for his sister's birthday, our meds for the trip and some potato chips (I was starving.)

We are home now and the detour means I'm over my 10K for the day. I'm also exhausted but can rest in the evening without worrying about still having 1 - 2K steps left to do (which, had the first store had nice shoes, would have happened.)

Dinner is heating in the microwave and the tv is set up for the next episode of House of Cards.

Happy birthday, Mr. Lilac!

I finally s2s but did not color hair.
Talked to dmom on phone; decided to put off her bday dinner again.
Went to Wmart. NOTHING open here in Tiny Town except Pizza Hut, Wmart. Two gas stations, and an all-night diner that dh and I never eat at.
We didn't have any scary episodes on the highway but dh drove about 25 mph. Lots of ice out there.

Happy Birthday to Lilac DH!

Home from town and multiple stops -
** Western store to pick up DH boots (ordered last week)
** Filled up Navigator and looked for something to wash the windows off. The splatters from melting ice mixed with sand made the windows so dirty they are hard to see through. Needless to say MPB is busy - dirty cars are stacked up in lines that are over an hour wait.
** LO to counselor
** pharmacy to pick up DH meds
** Sam's for list buying
** back to pharmacy to pick up DMom's meds
** Dominos pizza (drive through)
** DMom's home to take her meds & supper
** MPB to take DH supper
** Home to unload the vehicle and EAT. I was starving.

((blessed))

The tissue box idea was BookSaver's, explained in A,C and N if anyone else is intrigued.

Dee I am so sorry to hear about dd's eye troubles now. I certainly hope this is temporary.

lucylee and Twins Mom seem to be taking the brunt of this recent weather and we will only have some potential ice in the a.m. So far, no one is very impressed with the severity and we have no warnings/alerts.

My day was so social that I crashed on the couch for a long nap. Socialed OUT. I drove two dcousins around today during the 100 percent rain, first to a meeting and then to a lunch meeting just for us. We encountered drizzles all day - there were downpours but we were not in them, thank goodness. First meeting went long and I ended up taking some responsibility that I wish I could have avoided.

I've been feeling "formal" all day. :P We ate in a restaurant that hides its prices over to the left hand side in small print with no dollar signs or cents. Pretentious. I nearly ran the gas out in my car and it was so cold and rainy that I just didn't get gas but came home and used the truck through the afternoon to pick dd up from engineering, since HRH was home from his 3 meetings today. (Ugh. We were both ready for at-home alone time.)

Coffee - Spent decades not drinking it because of PMS breast pain, which it would aggravate. Lately have edged into it, especially with the advent of natural no-cal sweetener packets (stevia). I knew I would never brew or buy an actual machine - that would cross my too-much-trouble barrier. If you couldn't spoon it into the cup that second, it probably wasn't going to happen. Hated taste of several (one generic store brand was especially awful). Found that "Mountain Blend" said the magic words "extra smooth" so tried it and it has stuck. I drink coffee like my grandmother did - plenty of (real) cream.

Btw - "Non-Fat Half and Half" has been a source of amusement for one of the cousins I saw today, although she has not purchased any. (She and I are both daughters of dairy farmers, though reared several hours apart.) I guessed to her that it was probably the addition of another ingredient besides milk/cream, that made such a joke-sounding product have a mouth-feel like half-and-half. I looked it up and the ingredients list has these additional items: " Corn syrup, Carrageenan, Sodium Citrate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Mono and Diglycerides, Vitamin A Palmitate, Color Added"

I see the boards are up. Kathryn, I totally don't understand anything you're doing, but thank you for it all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. LILAC!

We had quite a day here. I got up super early because I heard DH in the living room when he should have been out the door to a dr. appointment. He said, oh I didn't know, though we had talked about it yesterday. So off he went and a few minutes later calls to say there's a 3-car pileup on the road, but he was ok (thank goodness). Waited a long while in waiting room to find out they had neglected to put him on the schedule...once back home he called them about another appointment he had scheduled (this one in writing) and they didn't have that one logged either. This is a dermatologist office. The growth he had removed is now bumpy again and he wants it checked. Sigh..wait another 2 weeks...

And I went with him to 2nd dr. appointment (bone dr.) where they checked both hips this time. Replacement is fine and other one has pretty severe arthritis and he's going down the replacement road with this one also. I asked dr. how far along he thought DH is and he said 75%..sigh... and I asked if he possibly wore it out waiting to get the first one fixed and he shook his head yes... so that's what we're facing someday...I certainly hope he can wait till he retires.

We went from there to SS office, which had moved and there was no address in phone book, so he called the veterans office who helped us go to right place. Wait there was 35 min. which is wonderful because it can be hours...and lady was nice...and I felt great to get that done. Strategy I asked about she wasn't familiar with, so she asked a back office person and found out I was right... but once home there was a message she'd given us the wrong information and we must start over again to figure it out... (hang up call again, Kathryn, LOL) ... and these are supposed to be the officials...

Next stop County office where we discovered another batch of problems and man was supposed to call but he came back then put a message on his answering machine that he was leaving for 5 days; yeah big help that was.

Came home absolutely bushed. Heated up leftovers then this evening did a search for SS answers on the net and found yet another thing to question...

So that was my day. It was nice to be out and about for a change, and of course we didn't have to worry about ice and snow on our travels, just a big clog of traffic here since they've closed a major artery for road work that's going on for 2 years

I'm sure bed will feel wonderful tonight.

Ew, Harriet, I will never buy that fat-free stuff again. :o

BookSaver thanks so much for sharing the tissue box idea toddlerN's expression was priceless when I whipped a bag out of the tissue box today I wish you could have seen it! She was impressed, I bag up the used diapers and take them out as soon as were done with em.

I made up biscuits to go with a can or sausage gravy for dinner for hubby tonight.
