Watched a lot of tv. Need to get moving again before I stiffen up too much.

Found this on FB when I got out of my chair:
<Church Musician> foiled again..... Went to sneak some jujubes, to find 7/8ths of the bag empty!! Grrrrr...... darn kids and probably husband as the ringleader. Although the little one is quite shifty.

<Anglican Minister (whose church will be across the street from CM's new house)> Maybe at your new place you'll have to hide them at the church across the road

<Our Minister> I'd be happy to keep them in the office and dole out a supply each Sunday. Sorta like your allowance for the week. Anything I can do to help!

<Our Minister>Don't trust Anglican Minister. The jujubes may walk. Just sayin.
In case you think our minister is being too hard on the Anglican minister, he might have inside knowledge since they worked together here in the city.

Now, to get moving and to try and not think about candy!

Aw, Nancy, sometimes plans don't work out.

Pretty gnarly day here. I had to make 2 trips out to jobsite, and DH is working out in horse country so a long-ish ride, after a stop at my least favorite place: HD - where just the sight of a woman causes all sales people to disappear. If I had a nickle for every time I asked where the correct lumber is only to be pointed in that direction and then have the guy disappear, leaving me to haul boards off tall racks all by myself and struggle to load...

Got a few things done around here, but I wasn't feeling very energetic, maybe because I stayed so busy yesterday. Tonight DH came home and told me his truck overheated again. This is the one we've changed every hose, fitting, thermostat, water pump. He doesn't know what the problem is. We just did all that work about 6 months ago.

And this week arrived a power brake bleeder to use because he can no longer bleed his brake the way he used to because he can't get his arms up in that position. And those brakes/master cylinder we fixed recently only partially fixed the problem.

Personal car has a very bad tire on front passenger side and needs changed badly. I reminded him we have a little trip to make the beginning of next month and wouldn't be able to do it on this tire, so he said he'll have to buy 2 new ones.

I just got so depressed thinking about all the mechanical stuff we have to do. And his big truck has leaking gasket around the big window which is his windshield, and side window which he's replacing still needs done and new one is sitting in a box in the garage. sigh...the hazards of having all old vehicles. DH takes it all in stride, says he's glad we're not making car/truck payments and haven't gone under... and he's not depressed about having to do all this work, but I'm just - well, sigh...you can imagine.

Spent an hour clearing out my pantry cupboard. Disappointed at how much expired stuff was in there. I moved a lot of things that were close to their expiry date, thinking I'd use them up at Christmas and then didn't.

(((Nancy))) I don't have diabetes but even I have to eat often long before dh is ready.

(((Harmony))) Thankfully dh doesn't have that attitude towards fixing everything himself. My dad did and I do a little bit but am not mechanically minded so save the important small things for dh to do and let professionals take care of the big stuff. In our case, though, the big stuff isn't what helps us make our livelihood as it is for you. Your dh, like mine, doesn't have the worry gene. That drives me nuts.

I'm very tired. Dson is home safely! Dinner tonight was good; dh cooked trout with a recipe he created - lots of fresh garlic and ginger and some soy sauce. I made rice and asparagus to go with it; dfriend R flavored the asparagus with rice vinegar, soy sauce, and a bit of sesame oil. I jogged 2.5 miles this afternoon. It only took me about 2 minutes longer than my standard jog. I think for a weekly long run, it will need to be more like 2.75 or 3 miles. . . Class was OK this afternoon, but not super; I think everyone was tired and antsy for the long weekend. We didn't even get to one of the activities I'd wanted to do. But we did get questions made for our guest speaker on Tuesday. Some students did very well on the quiz but some did quite poorly. I don't like a T-Th class; it's just not enough time, and it feels like we can't get much done.

Not too much on the homefront happened. I did fold and put away all the laundry that was clean, brought up the bins still at the curb from garbage and recycling pick up yesterday, tidied our hot spot, tidied horizontal surfaces in the living room, stopped by WF for fixings for tonight, cleaned the kitchen twice.

I also taxied people around a bit: picked up my mentee after work and brought her home for dinner, took mentee home, dropped off dd19 and a friend on campus, and went to the airport w/ dh to pick up ds.

Ds is becoming quite the big city resident. He takes the T (subway) all around Cambridge and Boston and he did uber for a ride to the airport. He likes Boston a lot and was comparing its restaurants with those of our little city. It sounds like he's eating at a lot of sushi restaurants, which are generally better than those here. His opinion.

Internship ramblings: Interestingly, I've noticed that in most of the pictures of the interns on fb, ds has been the only "white guy." He has said there are actually 4 white guys in this program (he could be off by a couple; he's not always the most accurate about this sort of thing), out of 40 interns. About 50% are women and a very large percentage are Asian, with a few Indians as well. He has also said there are a number of interns from the University of Toronto! I thought Kathryn and Ken would like to know that. Though schools from across the US are represented, including 1 student from Stanford and 1 from Harvey Mudd, a lot of them seem to come from east coast Ivies and privates, which makes sense since they are more local, some of them being in the neighborhood - quite literally. Students on the west side of the country would be more likely to get shuttled to programs in Seattle. There are 3 students from our MI Univ. in this program. He knows of several other MI students, including 2 of his good buddies/roommates, who went to the Seattle site. He mentioned at least one student from GA Tech, I believe.

OK, I'm obviously tired because I'm just rambling. I'm off to bed.

Have stayed cuop but don't seem to have time to post.

Dd2s dfil passed away last week, the funeral was today.

A dfriends dm has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and at 87, they won't do anything. They said 6 months but I think she has given up, not eating or drinking, etc.

Dh and I are leaving by 7 in the morning to head to a family reunion. My dm, her 2 sisters and 1 brother will be there. Only 1 of my cousins will be there. I really enjoy her. This will give me some time with dm, since I can't visit her at her house.

Have a safe 4th of July.
