I don't know if I told y'all (not for the squeamish...)


I had a kitchen accident last week. I was draining the spaghetti and the water splashed back and I got burned on the left breast right beside the nipple and on the right hand where the base of the thumb is. I was only wearing a thin white cotton nightie, which I removed really quickly, as I was screaming in shock and pain. I applied aloe vera immediately. Nothing blistered, but both spots were very red. Fast forward to my shower on Sunday... there must have been an invisible blister on my breast because the skin became very red and tingly after the shower... fast forward to last night when it began to throb and a red line appeared going from the burned area to points south. Throbbed all night, woke me up a couple times to the point of crying. Made an appointment this morning with my regular doctor, she saw me just before 6 and I had the antibiotic in my hands mere moments before 6 at the pharmacy across the hall from her office. They close at 6, so they filled it really quickly. I've had my first dose and I have to stay up until 10 to have my next dose. Now I have to keep the breast completely dry until the teeny tiny scab goes away. I think either the facecloth or the towel pulled a very small, almost invisible blister that I didn't know was there. I've also been told to put something cold over the tender area until it's no longer throbbing.

d cathy that happened to me but on my right breast and hand! The skin hurt for a long time but it healed and no more pain. praying you heal fast! mine was pulling hot water out of a pot and I still don't get how it happened. I had to go braless for quite awhile. cool helped a lot. feel better!!!

hello dear ones..and thank you!

picked up mom and we ran a couple errands, came back and d mom cut up the ham, and helped with cutting up veggies for pea soup which is cooking now. I thought I could be home and work but I am just taking the moments in. it's a shock that she is loving my animals. She is sitting on the couch right now with dd younger and 2 dogs on the couch next to her and one dog on the floor near her. (2 female labs on the couch and one malinois on the floor).

I put the fire place on even though it's warm for me.

tomorrow is my yearly dr. appointment so exciting!

Surgeon says everything went great. I was able to buy ddil her supper in cafeteria and give her someone to talk to. That's more than I could have expected to help, really. So I'm glad for that.

Just before dark I went home since there will be plenty of pro help to get him into car. Still not hearing that he must stay over, so I assume they'll be coming home shortly. HRH wanted them to keep him one night but I imagine he will want to be home if they give him a chance.

Nancy, dd25 is in your state somewhere around a lake called lake Chelan. She says everywhere she's been there is very pretty- thinks you have a lovely state.

My meeting just ended. I'm going to go to bed I think as I am having trouble keeping my eyes open. Tomorrow is another, busy, day.

BTW: dinner turned out fine so now I have to add the homemade cream 'soup' addition to the recipe. It will extend the length of time to prep the meal but it will also reduce the cost. I'm pretty sure the tinned soup is more expensive than the homemade option but it uses butter so maybe not. Dh seems to prefer it this way. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The taste was slightly different but I don't like casseroles and I hate cream soup, so I think my only dislike came from how tense I was at everything that went wrong in the process plus trying to eat quickly to be able to get my computer on in time for the meeting.

During the first 'cooking' time I had cleaned up the kitchen and had used so many dishes in the prep of the casserole that I ended up running the dishwasher as well as washing up the hand items. That meant that dh had an easy time with cleanup after supper.

Harriet that is great news! I agree with your dh about staying over the night but understand why ds might be anxious to get home. (((Hugs to all of you))). LET THE HEALING BEGIN!

I'm not a fan of DS15 new phase of teenagerhood. The apron strings are breaking for sure. He and 17 yr old friend went to the city to pick up construction supplies and then eat at a steak house. I am trying to appreciate his desire for independence while I am trying to ignore all the things that could go wrong. They are both good kids with common sense and levelheaded. But they are small town teenagers in the city, and they don't always make good decisions. It seems to be a hard line to balance - turning them loose to grow up while also keeping them safe until they are wise enough to survive their foolishness.

Happy to hear that he is out of surgery. Plus you had time with your DDIL, Harriet!

If I can make it through listening to another 30 minutes of that Gold rush show, then I hope I can sit through an hour of Wahlburgers. I've seen a lot of the Wahlburgers episodes, so if they aren't too predictable, it should be okay. I just need to stay awake until at least 10, but 11 will be better.

Harriet so glad for the good news.
I am on the other side of the state by Oregon & Idaho sage brush and dry here more arid not as pretty. in the region and
not forested here either.

I wrote a letter that helped me to feel focused.
Got bread put in the freezer and put away other stuff washed my dish.

Dson & I were talking about how people in parks these days can be sketchy because so many more are homeless.
I sort of miss walking in them after doing some pics buy the river today on my way home.

I stopped by the waiting room and did a quick pupa in there. There wasn't much to do, y'all are a tidy bunch. Harriet, thanks for letting us know. I'm glad the news was good and I hope he has a pain free night and total recovery. I'm assuming they sent him home with some pain killers. I'm not a big fan of hospitals sending patients home without Rx's when it's too late to get some filled at pharmacy. I've had that happen. Tomorrow might be a little rocky for him, as that is the pattern after surgery.

Blessed, I missed about your DKitty. That's hard. And it's got to be a bit stressful for you with your DMom there too. It's interesting to see the difference in her personality with the animals.

Kathryn, I've had cooking experiences like that. I like a sauce made with a roue. A little bit of work, though.

(cathy) so sorry for your injury. Burns hurt so badly and especially in such a delicate area. We can compare: my rash goes all the way from my clavicle (base of neck) down to my navel. So I am pretty miserable. Different pain than a burn, though, I think a burn is worse.

I really didn't do much of anything today. Napped, sat around, just a slug, sore and uncomfortable and itchy. You'd think I rolled around in a poison ivy patch...which I didn't.... and rash is different than that, more like a heat rash but bumpier and places so bad that the red bumps run all together and make solid red patches. I tried something different today and that didn't help at all.

I think my stress doesn't help my body heal. Tomorrow is DH's very last dentist appointment for a while. I know that means that his knee will be the next thing and I am so dreading it, especially with me feeling so awful. Lord give me strength!
