My goodness,,, I am trying to donate some costume jewelry. There is so much! Too much!! UGH! I have found a lot of sterling silver that I just don't wear any more. It's stamped .925 STER or variations of that. I will stop by a local jewelry store later this week to get rid of the silver. Some of the stuff I have had since the 70s or 80s. I haven't worn it in years.

Other than that, I washed a couple of frying pans.

I can honestly say I am truly trying but am not seeing much progress

Store was not that busy and had everything except dh's unsweet vanilla almond milk. I got regular unsweet almond milk - I don't know how low he is on it. I took care of the other two errands - deposit at HOA bank and drop off at FedEx for dh. As soon as I unloaded groceries I walked ddog two laps. While out I also ate a Wendy's single cheese burger. (oops) The walking hopefully helps counteract the blood sugar rush from the bun anyway.

Perishables are put away.

I have 8600 steps, may get to 9K today. That's okay, it will be colder this week and walking might get harder. Temp now is 36 feels like 29. I know that's not cold for a lot of you, but for me, it's cold!

picked up moms meds
took mom to get a quick sandwich from little trendy coffee shop. really good. picked up scones
stopped by butcher but they didn't have any smoked butt again.
picked up cleaning - still in the car - it was 20Deg. most of the day and I don't feel like grabbing it.
home again - I put tv on for mom

have to call my brother - he didn't sound happy - dd older said he sounded unhappy this morning to her too.
trying to figure out if I did something. praying that is simple. might as well just call bc I will imagine all kinds of bad and it won't fix anything.

Harriet…I just finished two very hardy wasa crackers with cream cheese. And I am going to eat a chicken salad sandwich for dinner. I bought good yogurt and cottage cheese to eat with some fruit and is appealing to me.

We had a very Frank discussion with Sweeties PT. He really likes her because she’s kind to him and answers all his questions. It was so hard to watch and listen to Sweetie try and do the memory test. Couldn’t begin to draw a clock, couldn’t spell the word world let alone spell it backwards . Couldn’t remember the five words even on the fist dry and couldn’t tell her the month, day or year. Sweetie tried so hard to do all those things and it was very difficult for me to watch him struggle.

I bluntly asked what we could expect inthe coming year. Sweetie is still able to do our finances which amazed his PT, and is quite capable of doing things around the house like taking care of the pool and maintaining our yard. Yesterday he worked in our attic and insisted I look at what he did. It looked like Martha Stewart Hana’s been up there. All the boxes were organized by their labels and the suit cases look like they belonged in a department store display.

What she told us is she expects Sweetie to loose more of his vocabulary and his ability to follow conversations. Also he mostlikely be able to understand and do things that I ask him to do.

Blessed….i asked Sweeties PT why he can remember much of his past… long term memory… and she said this is very common with people like Sweetie. She told us things like familiar music and remembering special people from his past brings people like Sweetie joy. It’s the present that frustrates them as they don’t have the ability to understand what is happening to them in the here and now.

So I’m thinking playing all your moms music from her past is a great comfort to here.

I have spent much of the day trying to digest all that I have learned. I am not surprised at any of it, but to be honest it makes me extremely sad to watch this happen to Sweetie and the hardest part is knowing Sweetie understands what is happening to him and there is little we can do to stop it.

So many of us are, or have been in, caregiver roles. As we get older our loved ones do as well. Thinking of those with caregiver duties - RR, bw2, Kathryn and Lucylee.

-straighten up bedroom and bath
-filled meds containers and checked on refills (I need to email doc about one)
-started process to refill Zepbound." So I get in line again.
-cleared the kitchen island and put away rest of groceries.
-Scanned a document dh gave me to "save" so I could turn loose of it, and got rid of several pieces of paper no longer needed
-received email from insurance person with current policies. Downloaded and saved. Dh receives these emails and claims he forwards to me but I don't have 'em.

Ddog may have forgotten that we walked earlier. I'm not walking again.

I am having another couch day. Ds and I took the Tahoe to get brakes fixed, and we ate lunch together. But mostly, I’ve done nothing.

i Have finished a dish cloth.
I am go glad I went out to do a few laps around the back yard and pick up after ddoggo.
It's brisk out 40* ish.
Got the living room vacuumed.
Folded and put away a load that was in the dryer.
So glad for some progress today.
I did listen to another rather long podcast.
The lovely sun gave way to clouds again now.

I have spent several hours away from laptop so haven't captured what I have been doing. Remembering some...
** Made a pot of soup for me. This cold weather makes me crave warm, hearty, and comforting soup.
** Temporary patch to interior dog yard gate so the 2 big dogs can go outside without Tomas taking off for an adventure. DS16 and his best friend that lives next door will do permanent gate repairs tonight. Since we share fence/gate with neighbor we want to make sure they approve of repairs.
** Went for a drive with DH including getting drinks.
** DD13 home from school with news they are cancelling 8th grade Thursday field trip to the city. Weather people are saying we will get ice/snow on Thursday so school attendance is iffy.
** branches and leaves gathered into the fire pit. I will burn it next time the wind is slow.
** Ordered a shirt and bid on 3 online auction items to support DFriend. She was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and started getting chemo last Sunday in a big city hospital. Our small community is showing our support by providing finances for her and family. Just 3 days into this effort and have already raised over $50k. I find that amazing for such a small community. DFriend is truly loved and treasured by all.
