Re: Mistle Thrush Monday
Helia, a walk and a jog, you go girl. How are my routines … pretty much non existent lol.
Gma, my daunt lived in her parents’ house until she couldn’t anymore and I stayed with her one summer… picture a house built in the early 1900s, no running water, no air conditioning, gas furnaces for heat… we had to go to the pump house and fill wash bins with water to wash and rinse dishes, there was a full bathroom in there too but it was a little walk from the house and no outside lights. It was fun but it took a week or so for me to get used to the heat as much as a city girl could and by then it was time to go home. My in laws also were old school, no AC, no bathroom indoors, they did have a kitchen sink, dh tells of taking baths in a bucket in the kitchen growing up and this was in the 60s and 70s, relatively not that long ago. They definitely lived in another world. I learned a lot from them all but love my modern technology.
Laura, meds can be so useful but it can be hard to know when they do more harm than good.
Dogged, lol at the sibling rivalry and the victory of being right!
Trissie, I’m just amazed you find time to post amidst all the tadas. Care to share the spaghetti recipe? It’s on my menu this week and I’m up for new things. If you’re too busy, no worries, enjoy it for me!
I forgot dh has a dr appt today (podiatrist) and he came home early so I made him a snack and chilled. I’ve got a couple hours before he gets back so let’s get ready to rumble aka get my dailies done.

Re: Mistle Thrush Monday
Morning Harriet. It was nice this morning before the rain but now the sun is out and it is super humid. Hi Peaches and Bama. Walks with friends are the best helian. My grandfather’s dementia totally cleared up when they took him off all of his medications, Laura, medication side effects can be difficult to manage. Hope the shot works well, GMA. Lots of vacationing happening, Trissie! Hi Dogged and kittykatt.
Probably my only post today. DD32 is hanging in there. We went to the doctor and go more meds and bloodwork so I know how concerned to be when we are away. Then I had to go to the funeral home to pick up the death certificates. I stubbed my little toe last night in the middle of the night and it still hurts.

Re: Mistle Thrush Monday
Hello everyone!
Trissie, I'm glad DD's tooth was sorted out today - that sounded very painful!
How nice to "see" you, Harriet, even if it did mean a very early start for you. The tap is just dripping a bit, nothing serious, but slightly mysterious, as it drips less or even stops when the weather is hot!
Bama, it was very interesting to hear about your DAunt's house. I don't remember any of my relatives not having indoor plumbing but one of DH's aunts didn't have an indoor bathroom until the 1970s.
Laura, I hope everything goes well for you. Taking it easy sounds a very good idea.
Helian, so glad DH's party was a great success.
LOL about the flowers in supermarkets, Dogged!
I hope it's good news for DD32, L.Ann.
Gma, I think my list of things to do before DH retires is probably rather aspirational! And, of course, a lot of it depends on him doing things like actually arranging to bring the new desk home!
Edited to add: DH has just announced he has arranged for a "man and van" to pick up the desk and cabinets / cupboards , and deliver them to our garage. ( Not sure how we'll do the swap over, but DH will need someone strong to help him.)
The fridge seems to be working properly again, so I'm hoping it will keep going until the bank holiday sales at the end of August. (I have a fridge thermometer so I can check the temperature inside is safe).
Hi, Peaches!
I had a very long walk this morning, through the valley park, along the stream, through the wooded area and back down the hill through the estate. Then, I had some garden time and watered the geraniums. And I've cleaned upstairs today, so taking some time to relax now, with Matilda on my lap.

Re: Mistle Thrush Monday
That is hopeful news that your dmother might be recovering some of her health, Lauralind. Wise to let your dfather know what's coming up and set some boundaries.
Sorry about the painful injection, Gma. I can understand why you have the Donwannas after that!
That's nice to have another walking friend, helia.
Hi, Peaches
Those are wonderful memories to have, Bama. Even better to have modern conveniences now, LOL.
We'll keep our fingers crossed for DD32, L.Ann. So far, so good. Ouch on the toe. You didn't need that!
That sounds like a lovely walk, Kittykatt.
