I thought the Broncos were playing today but I missed their game somehow -- or maybe I missed when they were supposed to be playing. I like their QB because he's an Auburn man, even if he did finish his career at Oregon (I think!)
I'm thinking about your opening, blessed... how to KNOW when we over-schedule or over-goal ourselves...
I definitely need to stay off electronics -- including the television! -- in the morning. And obviously the phone takes away from my day.
I don't think I think I need to keep the world spinning, LOL. I do worry about my dmom and DS/family... but I don't really feel "responsible" for them -- do I? Maybe I do, even though I can't really DO anything about them.
"The evening can be a time of severe self judgement."
"What we think we can do in the morning seems overwhelming at night. We never could have done it at all" We could work all night, but still all the things you think you should do can't be done in a 24 hour day or a week.
"framing the evening win love rather than your own expectations. "Take your hands off the world and rest"
"the evening brings me the reality of my limited life. There is so much we wanted to do or should have done: that's about self.
About self? Hmmm...
praying a minute or what ever in morning , afternoon, evening. to reframe our day in love. always remember that it is not about us. it's about putting love in our day. being grateful
Definitely believe gratitude is an important thing, and I try to keep a gratitude journal in my planner. I often miss days -- partly because I'm going to bed so late that I don't take time to check my planner. I think the SHE sisters suggested doing this in the morning, when you had a chance to gain some perspective on the previous day. That might be wise for me.
BUT so far as over-goaling... there are few things that I honestly HAVE TO do.
-- I want to have a WHB routine because I know if I skip it too often, something will happen and I'll be in the midst of panic cleaning.
-- I want to have a laundry routine because I know if I let it pile up, it will be a huge, overwhelming mess.
-- I want to exercise regularly (at least 4x weekly)
-- I want to make time for Bible study daily
Otherwise... my responsibilities are very few:
On a monthly basis,
-- I try to attend my teacher group meeting and as secretary, I need to type up the minutes for this meeting and email members, as well as sending email and text reminders.
Weekly,
-- I have church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights (but I will not be teaching at least until after New Year's)
-- and I have the chair yoga class on Wednesday mornings.
-- dgrands do expect to spend Friday and Saturday night with me, and -- on an irregular schedule --
-- DS/ddil expect me to be available for school pick-up, etc, when they can't do it. (For example, they are doing music at the nursing home tomorrow, and they asked me if I could pick up dgd after school.)
-- Dmom likes for me to take her to her doctor visits when they are in Next Town, and I do feel I am needed for this sort of thing. I worry about dmom's driving but I am NOT ready to take her keys away.
-- I want to attend all dgrands' activities, but after Friday night, this will be greatly reduced. Neither of them will be playing sports until DGD starts softball next spring. (That is her plan at the moment anyway; she says she does not want to play basketball this year. DGS says he is not playing anything except football from now on.)
-- I try to help out with church activities such as last night -- giving out water bottles at the city-wide "Scare on the Square" -- a trunk-or-treat thing we have every year.
I guess that looks like a lot, but it still leaves me a LOT of time to account for, LOL. People are always asking me, "What do you do during the day?" because they think without dh, I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs, I guess.
I have other goals too -- random things that are not on any timeline --
-- set up the NokBox
-- organize photos and scrapbook misc
-- get back into a routine of zone cleaning and decluttering
-- keep up with household repairs and maintenance
So...I don't know how much I can realistically do in a day. I think I will "observe" myself this week, and see how this goes. Concentrating on no electronics in the morning. That seemed to make a difference in the day last week.
This week is filling up quickly:
Monday -- pick up dgd
Tuesday -- take dmom to the doctor -- will have to leave here around 8:30/8:45. Ugh.
Wednesday -- chair yoga (10:00 a.m.) and Trunk or Treat, supper, and music at nearby church (5:00 pm)
Friday -- final game of football season, DGD spend the night
Saturday -- DGS spend the night
OTOH -- I must tell y'all, there is not much better than waking up to a 9 year old DGD saying, "Hi. Nana, you are so pretty. You don't have to put on your makeup; you are so pretty without it."
Y'all, I am NOT... but it is amazing to me that she tells me this. This is one for the gratitude journal.
