Re: Garden Trowel Tuesday
It’s still too early to plant most things, Trissie. I am doing winter clean up…. The first round of weed pulling, shrub pruning and stuff like that. I didn’t get the daffodil blooms I usually get so I need to divide a couple of those. It is too early to do that but I want to figure out where to plant them once I divide them.

Kittykatt - i'm picturing you enjoying your garden while I'm shivering here...
Dogged - you could sure use something warm! Is there a Tim Horton's near you?
LAnn enjoy the garden! How are the birds?
Bama women seem to be the target of all these customs... in the name of fertility. What about male fertility?
What birds do you get these days, helia?
I hope you get a better sleep tonight, trissie !
I'm on lol #5 -
must keep going... Lots more to go. Bedding will wait till tomorrow...

Re: Garden Trowel Tuesday
Hello, everyone!
Helia, I'm glad you were able to see Baby I at your family call last night.
KitKat, you're putting your new washing machine to very good use!
L.Ann, I hope you enjoyed breakfast with your friends.
Trissie, at least you remembered the meds in time, even if it was a rush!
Dogged, you sound very well prepared for today. What time to they expect to have the power restored?
Bama, on the topic of Easter customs I discovered an old English one that I have never come across before - the Easter custom known as “lifting” or “heaving”
On Easter Monday, men would gently lift women into the air. On Easter Tuesday, the women returned the favour. The ritual dates back to at least the 13th century. In 1290, even King Edward I was lifted by the ladies of his court.
The custom symbolised the Resurrection, the rising of Christ, and the shared renewal of the whole community after Lent. But, like many older traditions, it has disappeared.
Today I enjoyed a lovely walk, I had some time in my garden,.and I cleaned downstairs, so it no longer resembles a pig sty. Everyone has been fed and are snoring!

Re: Garden Trowel Tuesday
Hi, all. The sun has come out and is shining into my apartment so I'm toasty warm, and my power is back on so I am enjoying a warmed-up cup of coffee. I did enjoy my fresh bread, but now I'm looking forward to heating up my pork and vegetables. Germane had a feed from her slow cooker with added rice, which she enjoyed and is now sleeping off.
I hope that Dlittle is not too bad and recovers quickly, kitkat.
Hi, L.Ann. I hope that your long walk was a nice one.
The building wasn't heated, trissie, but it wasn't a problem. It's an apartment building, so every apartment has only one exterior wall. All of the rest are facing other apartments or the corridor, so not losing heat. Add to that that the walls hold heat and lose it slowly, and it would have taken more than eight hours to freeze us, even with the weather below freezing and blowing snow. It's clear now, and gloriously warm with the sun streaming into my apartment.
I didn't have a way to heat things while the power was out, but I brewed a pot of coffee just before they turned it off, so I had a few cups in the morning.
LOL, there is a Tim Horton's in the shopping centre across the street from me, kitkat, but the issue is the elevators. They might all be down due to the work that they are doing. Under normal power outages, one elevator would be functioning for evacuation, but it won't take you back up to your floor. But it's all worked out fine.
LOL, I can picture everyone envying me my excuse to lounge around and listen to the radio and watch TV on my phone. And to its credit, my phone still had 15% battery available after its day of heavy use.
I love this, Bama. I'm going to start paying men 68% of their invoices and leaving my laundry on their floors to pick up, in support of your efforts.
Thanks, Kittykatt. They were scheduled to have it off between nine and five, but they had restored the power by four. I waited a bit to see if they were going to shut it off again before I started plugging everything in again.
That sounds like a funny tradition, of men and women lifting one another.
I can't imagine that your house has ever resembled a pigsty, but now it is all fresh and sparkly.
